    Well done David. Thank you

Previous page(s) not available because you have to be on the page to go back another page. Shame you can't choose the page number as you can on other sites.

Maybe it's because the thread has so many posts??

Bakers2 you might be onto something there as this thread now has 6000 pages!!!!! Although I suppose if there were a limit we would have hit it by now? Hopefully we will be able to get back onto the stuck page tomorrow. Someone was asking about buses near Rookesbury Park which I provided some details about but it can't be seen now.

Just tried to look at the previous page internal error again.

A warm day yesterday 32.4C and today upto 33C looks like summer has arrived although some thunderstorms in the forecast fro next couple of days but still very warm, will have to leave the gardening for awhile but did a skip run yesterday and saw a friend of ours so a quick chat and then to local small Carrefour and met another pair of friends and she is not looking very well had her 2nd Chemo last week and feeling a lot worse this time another dose next week then a scan in July to see how things are then hopefully a operation and she has lost most of her hair so wearing a pretty little cap also she cannot cope with the heat and has to stay out of the sun whilst having the treatment.

Off to have our next Covid jab tomorrow it is a walk in at a local Pharmacie.

    Take care folks.

I’m glad the notorious ‘server error’ error wasn’t just my iPad as OH insisted it was!!!  Still can’t get previous pages though.  I’m sure IT will sort it out soon??  🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

I did manage to read your reply about Rookesbury Park before it disappeared into, I know not where!

Thanks for the reply and the suggestions.

vbfg, read your post but then it vanished, sorry cannot be of any great help re Rooksbury Park to Lee on The Solent except to say it is not a good cycle route have only done it one way Rooksbury to LOS, busy narrow roads, no cycle path etc and quite hilly in places

Re bus route, i think as David says you will have to walk into Wickham, Wickham has a very nice market square and is well worth a visit, and then probably catch the bus into Fareham, from Fareham there should be 2 routes ,

Fareham - Gosport via Stubbington, LOS then onto Gosport, this will be quite a long ride as the bus does tend to go round the houses.

Fareham - Gosport direct this is via a dedicated bus lane and is much quicker then catch another bus Gosport - Fareham via LOS, Stubbington this is the first bus in reverse.

not sure of the frequency, i think the round the houses bus is the X5 and maybe every hour

sorry i cant be of any further help as locally i cycle as we have very good cycle tracks into Fareham and Gosport

these are a some photies of LOS, Cowes and Southampton  etc taken this last weekend fathers day, enjoy your stay

Having been without an i pad for several weeks, due to her original one dying, OH is now set up with a brand new one, AND a new phone.  Son was in the U S on business and brought them back for her. Her old phone was very old, so we decided to invest in one new one for our holiday, I am very envious!

Operating this i pad is a little different as there is no “home” button,  but she is getting used to it.

We went down to son’s house on Sunday to pick up the new items, plus some stuff for DD, calling first at DD’s for lunch and tomato plant pick up, so DIL now has 6 tomato plants to re-home.  They are not coming to Norway due to caring responsibilities, so will be there to look after tomato plants, unlike DD who needs to recruit a budgie and tomato plant sitter for the 2 weeks they will be in Norway.

We are working through what needs to be done before we travel,  checking documents and finances, and now organising clothes.  We have not been abroad since 2017 so are out of touch with all this, and have not travelled by plane since 2015, so well out of touch with the rules there.

    Hi Rufs

Thanks for that info.  I had a feeliing that the cycling route would be far too busy traffic wise. As I am a single tourer, it is cheaper to stay at Rookesbury, rather than the CL at the garden center, which is nearer to Lee and Rookesbury looks really nice as well.

I will take David's and your advice and walk into Wickham if the weather is fine and catch the bus.  It must be around 50 years since I have actually been into Fareham itself and the town then was little more than just a high street then. How times change!

    Cheers Val

I am pretty sure they will be information on the walking route in the site information hut. From memory the  path at the back of the toilet block is fairly rough but after a short while you reach a humped back bridge which is over the old railway which has been converted to cycle/walking path with a metalled surface.

Val, did you ever check out the Kingfisher site which is between LOS & stokes bay, never used it but sometimes cycle round just to be nosey, i think they have just refurbed the facilities block and created some new hardstandings, they also have a bar/resturant, never going to be club standard but it is well situated with a bus stop for going into LOS or to Gosport, very convenient for the ferry to Portsmouth and Southsea, one down side could be traffic noise but there are pitches well away from the perimeter

Strange old journey to Wales yesterday left home in bright sunshine and 18C, got to Brum and it threw it down and the temperature had dropped to 10C.  Without exception every road I travelled on had roadworks so about 45 minutes added to the journey.  Been having trouble with tyre pressure on the rear of the car so had the tyres/valves checked, the result was screws in the shoulders so no repair possible.  I think it’s down to vandalism.

Went up Cad East of the Max Loop today saw a variety of low flying planed

Thank you for sorting out the server error DavidK. As we are away in Norfolk with a patchy WiFi signal I thought it was my lack of signal.

We had a very easy journey here on Saturday in grey drizzle. There wasn't much traffic at all, probably due to the weather and then there was a cracking thunderstorm about an hour after we arrived followed by a wonderful rainbow. The weather has picked up now though. We caught the bus into Cromer yesterday and had a walk along the sea front followed by a nice crab sandwich. There was a lovely sunset last night which promised a good day today which it certainly was so we have had a very enjoyable day at Felbrigg Hall in glorious sunshine. I will try and attach some photos. The one of the beach and pier is the view from our veranda.

Lovely photo Helen. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in E. Yorks.

It has been fine for most of the day and quite warm too. We went to Levens Hall this morning  and had a walk through the estate before lunch and then around the gardens in the afternoon. We didn't bother going into the house  as we have visited  on a few occasions. We have just had a heavy rainstorm, which is a pity as the ground was drying out nicely. Our last night away of this 10 week trip, home in the morning.

Photos of the flowers are from The Creighton at Dumfries and the others from Levens Hall.

Where are you staying millie? We're at Sandringham at the moment and the 4g signal - and therefore my internet connection, is diabolical.  I'm only getting 1Mbps download which is the same as the free Club offering - but at least I know mine's secure. I think of all the places we have been to in the country, this connection (on EE) is by far the worst.

I was going to post some pics of our visit to King's Lynn but I won't bother because I doubt they will upload.  First time we've been there and was very pleasantly surprised. Lovely old buildings around the Minster - notably the Guildhall which was re-built in 1422! Had a lazy-ish day yesterday and just went to the visitor centre for a walk and a coffee - although progress was slow because it seemed everyone wanted to come and stroke Megsmile She was in her element!!

Weather has been far better than forecast and we have managed 4 BBQs so far - let's hope it continues which the latest forecast suggests it will.

As it is quite a large site, so I envisage that you are right and they will have info on the walking route into Wickham.

I have stayed there in a tent many years ago with my 3 children, when visiting my ex mother and father in law, who lived in Lee. Unfortunately, as a single tourer, like most private sites, I consider that it is too expensive, just for one person.  Rookesbury Park is far cheaper and looks very attractive as well.

We are near Cromer R&R. It seems OK today. We always found the internet connection at Sandringham dreadful. A lot of it seemed to depend whereabouts on the site you were and also how busy the site was. We love the old part of Kings Lynn. Did you look at the old fisherman's cottages on Trues Yard? One up and one down which according to the census records had very large families living in them. St Nicholas Chapel is also well worth a look. It is very big for a chapel. If one of the guides are on duty they can tell you the history.
