OH BRUE  cry, you are very very ever so cruel to us elderly diabetics  sniffle sniffle.

ABM was supposed to be at Astle Park Steam Rally today, with Super Bright Fire Work Display to round it all off this evening, but the old bleep bleep  chickened out to stay where he could better regulate his temperature

And there is a rather nice moon out there tonight --  could tease that owl of yours, young lady !!.

Looks like sponge cake for afters Brue.  The BBC weather says 32 here today but at the moment it’s much cooler than of late. Managed to sleep til 7am then took visiting dog out for a run, much more pleasant than of late. Breakfast in the garden felt quite cool. They have moved the rain forecast back until Tuesday now.  Drove dog to the woods yesterday late afternoon, just around the corner but wanted to keep walking on pavement to a minimum, although shady still surprisingly very warm, even there. The stream has dried up, just pools of dirty stagnant water, don’t know how the deer are managing. However, one silly woman sat there on her phone while her dogs played in it and drunk from it, green algae on the top really don’t think it would be good for them.

Lovely line up of Jags Corners. Is that a C type on the right? Not keen on the colour, but love the car. Should be a nice day at Newby, if a tad hot. It’s good to see the car meets going ahead again, we haven’t been to one for ages. Have a great time👍

So sad. People just wouldn’t stay away from it. What I don’t understand is they said they couldn’t move it due to concerns about her welfare. We’ll surely moving it was better than killing it! Really don’t think that would have been allowed to happen here, but the again?

As you say DEBSC killing it should have been the last resort. The people who ignored the warning should be ashamed of themselves. Nice to know though that "Stupidity" travels well.

Had an early morning walk today, not having had one for a while. Back after a couple of hours which quite frankly was enough. Our new Freesat boxes arrived yesterday so we decided to set one of them up. I wish things went as well as the instruction manuals always indicate! yell Seems fine now though and just needs a bit of getting used to before we change MiL's box. The slight delay before acknowledging a command will be a problem for her!smile

We've lost our landline telephone connection again. MiL phoned us when we were in Netherlands in May on her mobile to warn us that parts of the village had an outage. That one lasted for 3 days with some parts of the village being off for  week. Will have to get in touch with BT and ask for some answers. No good having a landline for her if it's not reliable. I'd prefer not to have one but needs must at the moment. They're sending an engineer next week some time.

Thanks for all the comments a hot but great day. I'm ashamed to say I don't know which model is which embarassed

I've taken hundreds of pics but here are a few.

For any one interested our Jag is a 1996 X300 V6 4 litre sovereign. It was my late father in law's pride and joy and after he passed away my mother in law wouldn't let touch it and hence it lived in the garage for 10 years. It has only done 22000 miles.

We finally bit the bullet and changed the car yesterday - lots of problems starting to appear with the Peugeot which has been a good reliable car towing or solo over the years. Difficult to find a suitable model - we need the space in the back for the dogs, but not the power we needed when we were towing. Eventually settled on a 3 year old Volvo V60 (we have a dealership just round the corner). Lovely car, very comfortable drive but, OMG, you need a degree in rocket science (or a tame 12 year old) to work out all the functions on the infotainment screen! surprised

So, we can drive it, know how to fill it, use the radio and sat nav but the rest we'll have to pick up as we go along.

Talk about a small world, first thing the salesman said when we walked in was "didn't you use to teach at xxxxxxx school?" Well yes, I did, and I remember him well, so hopefully won't feel too stupid when we go back to ask the most basic of questions! laughing

    TtDA, DEBSC, WN,

ABM is 100% with you wrt the most unnecessary killing of a beautiful wild creature like " Freya "  ==  great shame they did not use a few cattle-prods on the  bleep, bleep,  onlookers first !! I think they would have been more effective on silly onlookers than some of the fancy repellent items the British Police carry on belts round their rather large bellies . yell

Yes I like that one. Primrose yellow I think. OH, who adores Jags, says the green one is a C Type. He learned to drive in his brother’s V12 Daimler. That and and Austin Champ, for the variety. Looks a well supported meet, lovely venue as well.

Poor Freya. She picked the wrong country to play in. The Norwegians still hunt whales. Meanwhile, in Turkey, not a country I would associate with animal welfare, some kind people took a drunken bear cub to the vets, rather than leave it. It had partaken of too much hallucinogenic nectar and was staggering around all over. Dried out (literally cold Turkey🤣) and returned to the wild. Life can be a lottery for some poor creatures.

We've had steady rain now for a couple of hours and I swear I can hear the grass sigh.

Shopping for food this morning, not very exciting. Also having withdrawal symptoms so took 3 full black bins to the tip. Shouldn't need to go again as most heavy work done and brown bins should cope.

We did have 2.2mm of rain yesterday but going upto our friends late afternoon it was very different there they had enough rain to fill 2 x 1000litre cuves and a half one wow and a horrendous thunderstorm with it and our friend does not do storms like that so hid away whilst it was going on, only thing the rain has helped them but when you look across their view a lot of trees are very brown soit looked more like Autumn than summer, we are now back home and managed two loads of washing and all dry as another stormy day for Tuesday with very strong winds forecast lets hope we get more rain.

DEBSC,     With respect to your comment about the pup being walked round the supermarket area getting very hot paws -- There was a report on BBC Local news about three ladies taking a a dog for a walk up Ben Nevis on Saturday.  When they decided to return to sea level the dog sat down & refused to take another step  !!  Sadly the dog, a Turkish Akbash  was a tad too heavy for them to carry at 35 KG { !! } so  out came the Lochaber mountain rescue team to do the obvious.  It took them till one am on Sunday to get down to Fort Bill  !!

Brian hopes that they received a substantial donation to Mountain Rescue Funds !!

Sensible dog ABM! A near 8 hour return walk for a Pooch couldn't have been much fun.

I did admire the 82 year old who has just done all the Munros for Alzheimers research, but even he had back up. If it was me I'd need a fold up stretcher...wink

Getting ready to take pooch out for her second walk, and she knew it, how do they know, when I heard distant rumbling. Strangely this went on for 30min, finally black clouds and then Rain! To be honest within a few minutes it just seems like normal Devon weather. The dried leaves from the trees in the woods all came floating down at once, so it looks like autumn. Glad I didn’t take dog, apart from the rain, she doesn’t like the , now heavy, thunder, and would hate her to bolt in fright. Now an unhappy dog, but happy plants. It’s seriously pouring.

Brue,  apparently Lochaber M R had already been out three times when the ladies squeek for help arrived.  Reports say that the Team insisted on turning out again, although it is outside their normal remit. Almost makes one proud to be 'Human'  don't it  innocent

Pale grey cloudy sky over Crewe and No its not smoke from the trains tongue-out,  temps dropping very slowly and no storm noises so I can hear this old keyboard creaking in protest at heavy one-fingered typists thumping away  wink  But I do want to hear the gentle pitter patter of a cloud burst or six, honest  !!

We have had rain since last night, started just before bedtime with lightening and very distant thunder. We don't often get thunder and lightening here. Storms are usually in winter or spring and heavy rain and gale force winds.

Its rained all day today mostly just steady rain not heavy so the ground is soaking it up nicely. Still fairly warm out but not that sticky way that you sometimes get after a storm.

Popped to shops for fresh milk this afternoon and they were heaving, seems everyone must have decided that as its raining and they can't do anything else they would shop.

This morning it was housework and ironing, I need a rainy day every now and then just to catch up with the boring jobs.laughing

More printing and packaging of the 3D printed brackets, next 5 ready to go. so far we have done 68 sets, only 14 more left to do so just another week then provided no one else asks for them we should be done. I hope so its taken up a lot of OHs time this summer.

Its time we thought about going away again for a week to 10 days. However eldest son and his family are on their way up from Wiltshire.

The Gkids are due back at school next week and the parents need to start getting their house back in order as its been empty for years.  Our son is due to finish with the army next year so has a lot to think about, job being one of them and where they are going to live long term, their house isn't big enough for them. It will do short term but they need to put it right and then sell it. Been telling them this for years but do they listen yell

Hope all those without rain get some soon, I think our gardens have enjoyed it but the rivers will still be low, we are fortunate that in our area we have dams, the biggest river in Scotland and lots of Lochs. The sky is looking brighter, not so dark grey more near white and the rain is just mizzle now.  Time to think about dinner.

Apologies....  I'm a bit behind with the latest post, at the moment.  Waiting for Internet connection here in Ipplepen, Newton Abbot, is a bit like waiting for paint to dry.  We've had a lovely trio over to Stover Park this afternoon, and managed to fill up with diesel for £1.779 a litre, ready for our journey tomorrow..... off to Hunter's Moon CAMC Site at Wareham for a few nights, just before a two night break at home... and before our cottage rental on Harris..

Hope all are well... haven't been able to see the pictures  some have mentioned...  Hopefully the Internet is better at Wareham...

It's been a little cooler today - just a little rain rain this morning before breakfast  - otherwise the temperature has been very pleasant today...

Oh dear brue.  I have just caught up with your post about spending time in your hot kitchen baking only for the event to be cancelled. I do hope you enjoyed the cake smile

I envy those of you who have rain. It has been another hot day here but also very humid. We definitely need rain. I met up with old work colleagues for our monthly coffee get together this morning so we had a very pleasant morning sitting outside in the shade at a local garden centre. There was also a nice breeze.  No breeze now - it is very hot and still. The weather forecasters can't make up their minds whether we are going to get rain in this area or not.

I went to see my oldest and best friend on Saturday.  Her husband has been desperately ill with cancer for some months. He had a huge op in Addenbrooks just after Easter and they have been back and forth for appointments not a pleasant journey from here but luckily their daughter has helped out a lot. Appointments have now all stopped and Macmillan have taken over with palliative care. Also their local GP is being marvellous and popping in on a regular basis. He looks dreadful. I had a chat with him but he gets tired quickly so my friend and I sat in the shade in the garden and had a long chat and a few tears.  She has been told that he possibly only has weeks to live. I have known him since he was 15 and my friend and I were 13 as we were all at school together.  He is our eldest son's godfather but I don't want to tell him just how soon it could be as he is on holiday. It is all so desperately sad.

Cooler here today, a mere 27c🤣 supposed to start raining at 3pm. It was late, started at 3.10pm. Lasted, a few drops, barely enough to wet car windscreen. By 3.15pm, that was it. So just spent a happy hour and a half using watering cans to start emptying pool onto garden. I think we might get more tomorrow 🤞

Nice afternoon out with Mum and Sis, called into a new farm shop cafe that has opened near us, very nice. Scenic drive round, and then back home for the watering.
