Felbrigg looks lovely Millie, that walled garden is one of my NT favourites. Always enjoy North Norfolk. Hope you have got this tremendous weather.
Sweltering here today, just as it was X years ago for our Wedding. Yep, it’s our Anniversary. Not bothered with anything special today, might get away next week instead🤞

Happy Anniversary Ttda.🍾
We've moved on today to a bit more than half way home. It's an independent site, details of which I'll put up on that thread when we get home. Nice place, a bit different.
Got caught up in a 30 minute delay on the A14 today. Typical as we left early to avoid the hot weather later on. Nevertheless we were able to have lunch at the site when we arrived not long before 1pm. Had to buy ourselves an ice cream though.

Had a lovely last day yesterday. Went for a morning stroll around Wicken Fen, lazed in the afternoon (well actually I nodded off!) then went out to meet friends for a meal. Saw a Barn Owl on the way back to the CL. Last true day of the holiday really.
A wonderful 6 weeks away. Thoroughly enjoyed it but the driving to and from Harwich is a bit of a nightmare at the moment for us.
Millie, glad to see you are having a super time in one of our favourite places.

WN Wicken Fen is one of our favourite places, although we havent been there recently. We must try and get there before too long.
Happy Anniversary to the TDAs.
Wells next the Sea (again!) today. Absolutely beautiful weather for it. So sad to see that they are demolishing the little railway that used to run down to the beach though.

Back home again after our 6 weeks in France. We had a good time as did our friends.
Arrived home at lunchtime after a lovely time yesterday at Englethwaite Hall, the site was almost full, just 2 pitches not occupied. Lovely weather and a nice quiet night. We found the Fairy Glenn which we have never seen before, what a lovely place the wardens have created.
Our garden is a jungle, the grass was the longest I've ever seen it, all cut and strimmed now. Lots of bushes needing pruned back now they have finished flowering. A couple are going to need a serious cut back.
Food shopping tomorrow morning, it's forecast to rain so may as well get it done then as it should clear by lunchtime.
Had to put the heating on tonight the house is cold, it's warmer outside.
Safe drive home WN.

My word it is hot already ,I cut the grass at 0815 (should have been a site manager)

Even if many flights are being cancelled,, this area the sun is still being filtered by contrails from aircraft as they spread out when they have passed over, , it was great during the main covid restrictions with clear sky's
We are on the flight path of several busy airports plus many long haul that overfly this area

My word it is hot already
We are just over a thousand feet up on the slopes of mount Ventoux but it’s already 32 and forecast 39 later. We were thinking of making a break for the Atlantic coast when we heard about this heatwave, which is exceptional for this time of year, However, glad we didn’t, they are predicting 40 today and up to 44 tomorrow. Sister and BinL will be over soon and we are off for a picnic a bit higher up where it should be cooler. After that I think it will be a visit to the very nice pool to cool off.🥵 They don’t insist on budgie smugglers which is a plus.😂

Perhaps you would consider writing something in the Story Section about your trip and adding a few photographs?

Agree with you SteveL it is hot here in the Lot 36.8C up our weather pole at present and the top temp forecast is 41C just too hot to do anything, did have a dip in our little pool before 10am and that was warm but lovely before it got to hot and pool temp was 32C so hope next week it will be cooler.
Our friends who run a B&B for walkers doing the Compostella route said folks are arriving shattered and did not think it would be this hot and some of the route has very little shade would not do for me as I like it cooler for walking, they are getting a newer motorhome next month but trying to get the dealer to give them a date is proving hard even though they have been to them twice and as they have guests most evenings although a lot less in July/August they cannot just go any day as where they are getting it from is about 60/70 miles away, they seem to do things here different and slower heyho.
Take care in this heat folks, was out watering this morning before 8am.

We have hit 31c in the shade here, and that’s bad enough🥵 Pooch is keeping cool indoors on tiled kitchen floor, I am sat in shade reading in between a few pottering jobs. OH? He’s chosen to pound the roads and TPT on his bike. Barking if you ask me, but I do know he is consuming ice cream along the route🤣
If you can, put some water out for birds, they will be really grateful. Our semi tame blackbirds are sat in shade, wings out and gaping here. All my watering spots are busy.

31 here in MK. There has been quite a breeze today which has probably prevented it getting even warmer. The problem is that it will not be until after midnight before it dips below 20 degrees which could make it difficult to sleep!

Very hot here at the coast. We are keeping cool in the shade and the breeze is helping. I think the forecast says rain tomorrow.

Got to 38.8C phew just too hot and could be warmer tomorrow even with the wind is not enough as it is a very warm wind, friends sent us message earlier to say just across from them other side of a hill there has been a wildfire but all now under control thankfully, our worries are the locals who still smoke throw the cigarette butt through the window.
No rain here until Tuesday/Wednesday of next week and a much cooler week thankfully.

It got to 39 here, but the ride to our picnic at higher altitude was air conditioned and we headed straight for the pool on our return. Thankfully that is supposed to be the peak here, only 36 tomorrow then reducing to more normal temps by a couple of degrees a day. Currently the nights are a bit sticky, even with every orifice open (although protected by fly blinds) it’s not until the early hours it has been getting comfortable.

Got up a bit earlier today so arrived home by 9.45 am and managed to unpack before the sun actually came out. Food shopping before lunch then a relaxation for the afternoon (on orders).
DK - I might do a precis if I get the time over the next fortnight before we hit the road again to cottages to give MiL a holiday.
If InaD looking in then I've now done a review of the Dordrecht site. Had to get the site installed first so review should appear any day now.
I noticed that a woman died in Wrexham hospital after being given a gluten rich breakfast (Weetabix, there's a hint in the title) when she was a Coeliac. Her notes did say as much but they weren't displayed prominently for those supplying the care. This happened in November just gone. I, who am not a Coeliac, but do have a problem had to explain to the staff there when I was in for a week in 2019 about gluten. One of the nurses had to go out to Sainsbury and buy some GF breakfast cereal herself for me. Doesn't look like anything has improved. I relied on Mrs WN bringing food in for me.
Found out that one of our near neighbours died whilst we were away. His wife then passed away on the day of his funeral. How things change so quickly.
Jealous of SteveL as we were talking the other day about our stay in the area, at Malaucenne, a few years back. Not jealous of the weather though. A nice 25º here today.
Sad to hear that news about the railway Millie. It was used quite a bit.

No heatwave up here, raining this morning. Stopped at lunchtime and it's been a nice 18-20c this afternoon with a good breeze.
Shopping this morning, then the afternoon in the garden + 4 loads of washing done.
OH been sorting out all the admin, 1 car needing insurance and taxing, MH going in for mot then tax and insure. House insurance due and an ISA has matured.
Our camping TV went on the blink while away, luckily we had a free sat box with us and it worked fine using that. It is the TV satellite tuner that is not working. Tried when we got home and that confirms it, it doesn't work here either unless it's through a free sat box. Got in touch with the company as its still under warrenty, now waiting for a reply.
Have a good weekend one and all.

W - we were in France about a month ago for our long overdue river cruise. It was the first week that compulsory mask wearing had been dropped and I can't remember seeing a single mask wearer the whole time we were there. And at no point were we asked to show our vaccine certificates. So unless new variants rear their head I'm pretty sure there won't be any reintroduction of restrictions.

Ta folks. It's as I anticipated. Not a problem as we found roughly the same in the Netherlands. There was more people in Tesco today wearing masks than we saw in 6 weeks abroad.
Last time I spoke to my brother in France it was a different story so thought it best to get the news straight from horses mouth (so to speak!)

We have been wearing masks for about two years but this Thursday, which is our normal Waitrose shopping day, we left them off for the first time. There were still people wearing masks but the number decreases every time we go.

Belated happy anniversary to you both, tda. Hope you had a lovely day.
Good to read that those heading home arrived safely.
We are now down on our first site of our current trip after a slowing journey here yesterday due to road works. It was a little bit cooler today than when we arrived due to a breeze this morning and clouding up this afternoon. Had a pleasant walk along by the Lancaster canal before lunch and then our daughter came over and, as well as the usual delivery of chocs from around Europe, took us out for a meal this evening. 😁 We have even had an odd spot of rain to lower the temperature. I must say that we are both glad that it hasn't reached the high temperatures that those "over there" are having.

We're still wearing masks - particularly in supermarkets although it is noticeable that here in Dorset, hardly anyone is wearing one - even in crowded areas.
Some time ago, I switched from the usual cloth masks to 'proper' FFP3 ones on the basis that there was no point protecting others (which is all that 'normal' masks achieve) since they were not wearing masks - to making sure we were protected. I've actually found them more comfortable and they have the benefit that your specs don't steam up.
I note from this morning local on-line paper that there has been a 75% increase in the number of cases of the new Omicron variant in East Yorkshire in the last week, so we will continue to be careful when we get back home.

We are still wearing masks when shopping and do still see more of the older age group wearing them and we will continue to wear masks with cases going up here although not a lot is mentioned in the news, agree with you richardandros re proper mask as OH wears glasses all the time.
Did a bit of shopping a couple of days ago at a new small Proxi/Carrefour opposite St Cirq la Popie and we were the only ones wearing masks, did take the opportunity to wash my car as it was filthy and then tried to find somewhere quiet and in the shade for a picnic away from the tourists found a spot at top of a hill with shade and views thankfully.
Just put my hand in the pool ugh just like a very warm bath and now in sun so will get even warmer, will be glad of cooler air, TG our cooler weather sounds great my OH prefers cooler than hot weather, will wait for next weeks cooler weather for outside chores but have a small inside chore to do today and not much else.
Enjoy your weekend folks.

Haven’t really noticed the really hot weather, except for being able to wear a summer dress. Wednesday there was high cloud here, so not too hot at all. Thursday we went to RHS Rosemoor, where we did choose to have a cuppa indoors rather than sit in the sun, but still easily able to walk around and view all the lovely roses. Yesterday we spent almost two hours in a car dealers, where all the double doors were open, so quite cool, then on to Tesco, cool in there. Today it’s very cloudy and much cooler. Either it is cooler in North Devon or its just our house which, backing onto a wood, gets lots of shade, which is a pain in the autumn months. We didn’t even feel the need to open the patio doors in the living room. So glad that we weren’t at our caravan though, which basically is a tin box in a field, with no shade at all, and unbearable if it’s really hot. We usually have to find a shady spot by the river to sit in that sort of heat and it always seems to feel warmer inland.
