Better news JVB.
Hope those booked in for hospital get there safely and all goes well.
Lovely morning here though not looking quite so good for our Sunday street party!
Local beacons being lit tonight as they no doubt were in Roman and Iron age times on the hillforts round here so will climb the hill behind us later today to watch several being lit.

Hope your street party goes well brue and where are the beacon fires going to be lit.
Weather is not looking good for the weekend here we are going to our friends for a jubilee lunch on Saturday so maybe inside, shame as other friends they invited are not coming now due to other and other things happening.
Well the concreting of the pool base going well but hard work got shovel shoulders now and a aching back, 2 have gone off for more sand and gravel mix and hopefully that will be enough and shall be glad when finished as it looks like we may get a storm later today what fun!!!!

www.queensjubileebeacons.com for all the details RedKite, look out for one on the Worcester Beacon if you can see it on line later. Ham Hill will be the big one near here but we have another one even closer and several more.

PS Hope you enjoy the pool after all your labours, our friends did the same at their French home....even more visitors after that!

Hope progress continues JV. Hope the cycle came with a helmet.
Hoping to catch up and see some beacons, even if online. Living history, love things like this. Sis is looking after us re Jubilee Party. Picnic lunch, including “that” trifle being delivered for us.
Gorgeous here, so pooch walking and gardening today hopefully.

We’re gong to a Beacon lighting tonight (if we stay awake - it’s after our normal bed time).
It”s at Westmorland Showground. Last year the Westmorland Agricultural Society was awarded the Queens Award For Voluntary Service, and the actual medal was presented by princess Anne at the Show last year.
Tonight there’s a Celebration (involving food and drink I believe), for volunteers and Life Members, followed by the Beacon do.

Moving day today as we moved about 100 miles south. Easy drive on the motorways for most of the way.
We have noticed that the Motorway, "A" & "B" roads over here in the Netherlands do not seem to have a single pothole, well not one that we've found yet. Why on earth can't we do it?

The site is going to be full this weekend for Pentecost. We'll be out on the bikes tomorrow as the forecast isn't too bad.
Enjoy yourself folks whatever you are doing.
Glad things moving in the right direction JVB.

Fine day here until this evening when it clouded up and it is now raining, which may well spoil you beacon lighting Goldie.
Got the caravan washed this morning before lunch after our long dog walk. Flyte was off the lead for a while on the grassland but he seems happier when he's on the extending lead.
Glad that those that have moved site have had no problems en route to your new destinations.

We left home late yesterday afternoon and made the short tow to Strathclyde Park CC for the night. Made the easy hour and a half hour tow over here today although we had a bit of an issue with the Volvo when we arrived but managed to get a temporary repair done so hopefully that holds out until we get home it’s going in for its service next week anyway so will get it fixed properly then.Weather lovely here today so we got our van all decorated for the jubilee weekend SWMBO has done a great job site is very busy and there are lots of vans decorated. Son DIl and grandsons are visiting us on Saturday for a jubilee BBQ so looking forward to that.
Hope everyone else has a nice jubilee weekend

Beacon watch tonight, have to say our local one was very good and we could see others around us. Lovely end to the day.

Good photos brue and glad you were able to take photos. The only light we had late last night was lightening and then thunder and even more forecast for today and tomorrow, glad all concreting finished and dry as we only had 2mm of rain overnight and round two of pool next week 9/10/11 and still looking warm but not such hard work poor OH was really drained last night not good with extreme heat but feeling better this morning and I have ended up with a large insect bite back of left ankle not nice and now got two on my forehead oh the joys of summer. A quiet day just tidying up and resting.
Have recorded jubilee celebrations so will watch that later.
Have a good weekend folks and stay safe.

Had a very frustrating couple of days!! We are due to go away for three weeks on Sunday so I thought I'd get the Tomtom out of the car and download the routes to the two sites we are staying at that I'd prepared on 'MyDrive'. After 7 years of reliable service, it's decided it doesn't want to play. I have tried everything - and I mean everything - to get it to work but it seems to have developed a mind of its own. I don't think leaving it in the glove-box for months at a time has done it a lot of good

So - off to Halfords 12 miles away - they don't have a single TT device in the store and weren't very helpful at all. I'm now relying on Curry's to get one here by 1200 tomorrow to give me time to set it up. That's another big dollop of expense I could have done without

And before anyone says anything, there's a very good reason why I don't rely on someone else to read a map!!

Another day, another party.
Last year a friend's daughter got married - but because of the restrictions in place did not have a proper party. But tonight we're invited to a celebration in a Marquee. We have been promised a band, a bar and pies! And best of all we can get there by driving across our fields!
Meanwhile, with less than a week to go my OH is starting to get the caravan ready for our long awaited holiday. Well, he has mentioned cutting the grass in the Paddock so we can get the caravan out, checked if we have enough toilet chemicals, and put his leg-winder-upper onto charge. And I have ordered another bottle of Gin. It was a special offer it would have been rude to refuse.

Smart phone? We just put our destination in, and take a look and it tells us where to go. Admittedly it doesn’t know we are in our MH, but we overrule it if we know better, or route looks dodgy.

We had a BBQ at our son's last night and were very lucky with the weather as we were able to sit outside until 8.00pm. I started the day at the Cathedral and I attach some photos of our decorations. I also attach a photo of the Cathedral illuminated at the same time as all the beacons were lit. I think we did Her Majesty proud. Later this afternoon we went to a Jubilee garden party at the parents of our SIL (also good friends). So lovely to see so many of our family and friends there. Once again we were so lucky with the weather. It was dry and sunny all afternoon. All in all a lovely couple of days.

Francis's post reminded me of the Diamond Jubilee 10 years ago when we were in France. We decorated our caravan with lots of flags as did the other Brits on site and we all sat outside drinking tea and eating cake somewhat to the amusement of some of the other nationalities!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
I hope you work out where you want to go R&R. How about google maps? Even I have worked out how to use it!

Looks very nice Millie.
We did see some "bunting" out over here in the Netherlands but not for ERII, yet still for the UK. This time including the Maple leaf of Canada. We were cycling back through a small town, Otterlo, about 10-15 miles north of Arnhem and came across a war memorial dedicated to the fallen in the battle that raged around and in this town 75 years ago. There is a war cemetery just behind it and a plaque with the names of the fallen on it which includes a mix of forces from the UK and Canada. On street posts are photographs with the names of those brave soldiers who fell with an appropriate Union Jack or Maple leaf. This to commemorate the 75th.year of liberation. Very touching, especially as it came to us unannounced.
Nothing else that happened today was as significant as that.

"I hope you work out where you want to go R&R. How about google maps? Even I have worked out how to use it!"
I tend to be very cautious when I'm going somewhere new, millie. I plan the route on Google maps on my computer - using Street View to 'drive' any potentially dodgy bits and modify the route as necessary. When I'm happy with it, I replicate that route on an app called Tomtom MyDrive - save it as a route in my TT account and then download it to the satnav. That way, I can be 100% sure that the satnav will take me where I have decided to go and not attempt to take any stupid shortcuts. I've used this system for the last six or seven years or so and it's been brilliant but something's gone wrong with the present satnav and it just won't download the routes - plus it keeps switching itself off at random.

The only light we had late last night was lightening and then thunder and even more forecast for today
Plenty of banging and crashing here ( just east of Cahors) last night and very heavy rain for a couple of hours. This morning I stuck my head out of one of the small lights that opens wide enough, and the roof is covered in debris off the trees. Just as well we don’t need the solar at the moment.😂 I think we might be leaving a bit of a trail when we move on today, as it drys off.

Yes SteveL not sure how far from us you were we are about 10km south of St Cirq la Popie and it did crash and bang but not as windy as forecast but tonight looks worse stronger wind gusts and heavy hailstorms not what we need on leisure vehicles really but will track during the day, OH says the storms are coming from Portugal area will wait and see.
Just got to put a few things away from out workout with pool, should be a bit cooler for a few days thankfully at least I do not need to water the garden.
Hoping to get away for a few days the week after next but only locally to home.

Not that far away, the site was at Vers. Very pleasant, good facilities including an MH discharge point. Nice pool and excellent facilities. Quite a few cabins, mostly not in use and 20 touring pitches. We moved on to Millau today, according to my French weather App we should be clear of the thunder storms.🤞Hopefully it won’t be as bad as forecast, particularly the hail. My sister and BInL had a pool installed a few years ago. It came as a large preformed unit, that was craned over the house and then installed into the ground. The pictures of it hanging above the house looked a bit alarming.

Vers not far from us and know the site well also the local hotel La Truite Doree is where we had our 50th Anniversary lunch last year, gosh time flies by, enjoy your trip and hopefully you will miss the worst of the storm SteveL we are getting the worst of it about 8pm to 10pm so batten down the hatches again.
All quiet at the moment with sun out and about 26C a bit cooler but it feels very sultry hence the storm later.

We have just had a storm pass through, we were warned for 1 last night but it didn't happen. Made up for it today, we were out on the bikes not long gone when all of a sudden we heard a rumble. Looked behind us and saw the sky blackening 😲 turned round and headed back to the site. Got back just in time. Lots of thunder, no lightening or rain for awhile then the rain started, got really heavy towards the end then just stopped dead. More to come as the skies are getting darker and a breeze has picked up a bit, coming from the South so must be what Steve and Red kite had.
We are in Blois, or should I say on the banks of the Loire near to Blois.
Staying for the weekend, then heading back up to the Normandy Coast. Our friends doing the same but taking a bit longer as they still have a few places along the Loire they want to see. We've done it a few times so have elected to visit a few places we haven't done.
Wow, had to break off this post as another storm came through, this one much worse than last. Seemed to be passing just to the side of us when all of a sudden it changed direction and came straight at us. No time to get canopy away before it hit. We are on sandy ground, one of the tie down pegs worked lose so OH had to go outside and hold down the canopy until it passed over us.
Everything now all dry again, jumbo peg now in for tie down. But canopy going in overnight, not going through that again.
Having hardly seen any Dutch on our travels we are now surround by them. Some only staying the night while others here for much longer. Quite a few Germans here as well, strangely not so many French vans, though a fair few in tents having cycled here.
Hope all those back home are having a good weekend and enjoying the celebrations, we are following it on TV.

I took Mum out this morning while Sis made the Jubilee Trifle from scratch. You need an army of servants to do the various aspects, so it took a long time, but does look delicious. Our portion will be delivered tomorrow, along with a picnic lunch, so looking forward to that. Otherwise, it’s been a quiet day, bit of gardening again for me, then watched dismal England game.
Our weather has been quite kind this BH. Thursday and Friday were lovely, sunny and warm. Cloudy and cool today, but no rain. We do expect some tomorrow though, but hopefully nothing like the storms elsewhere.0 -
OH is now settled in at the rehab hospital ,with it seems very attentive staff and nice inpatients in her ward ,although very old biuldings but it is on the very edge of of the village so mostly agricultural fields next door, and great that I have unrestricted visiting times we have been siting in the gardens with other patients listening to the birds and watching the kites which fly very low overhead

Physio expect her to need two weeks before discharge to home?

The electric. cycle lasted two days before it failed with several faults so took it back and got refund,

The hospital is less than two miles from home so am using OHs electric scooter to and from hospital

Funnily enough Tammy we are surrounded by Dutch campers as well.

Your storms sound horrendous but typical of France. Good luck with rest of the trip.
We (I) had an interrupted sleep last night and after lying awake for several hours in the early morning fell asleep listening to the dawn chorus only to wake up gone 9.30!!
Put paid to our intended cycle as we were both pooped when we eventually made it into the day. We decided on a walk from site and managed about 5-6 miles which cleared the head.Loads of people out on holiday enjoying themselves in some gorgeous weather. Site full but we're on the edge so quite content. Heard from MiL that they're expecting thunderstorms in Wales tomorrow. She'll not venture out.
Enjoy the rest of the festivities at home folks.
