OH now a "guest" ( doctors words)at the hospital .as although to be discharged to a rehabilitation centre there are not any beds available yet,, ,problem being she is not getting physio to help ,her to get going again ,as ward always short staffed nearly always Bank or Agency staff on the ward,,, and it takes two to get her out of bed and mobile ,it has been me and a clinical ward assistant or student when available
They even on one day did not have a housekeeper to supply drinks or the meals ,it was a hospital volunteer and me at lunchtime plus the ward staff
If it was not for the unpaid students two or three per, day one at weekends, the problem would be far worse
,With being there every day you tend to notice how stressful it is for the staff and also those who are people persons and those who it is just a job , ,

Glad you are enjoying yourselves TG and yes it can be cool in the Auvergne we stayed in a gite a few years ago end of May and the surrounding hills had snow on them but we did not have any but went very much cooler. Enjoy your trip around the Chateaux, the sites on the way and back from Roscoff were about 20-23 euros a night would be cheaper with ASCI card.
Going warmer here and by Wednesday could be 33C and we have friends coming on Tuesday to help with the concrete base for our small above ground pool that will be interesting so early starts I think and OH not good with that, the area is in shade until about 11am so that should help and they are staying in our caravan which s in full sun and they do not like fans on as they both do not like noise at night heyho they will roast although will have to keep windows open.
Will see what the weather is like after 12th June as we would like to go to a local site for about 5 nights as easy to get back for plant watering.

I do not mind helping ,but as one "jobs worth" staff nurse has said I am not insured or trained? to assist anyone

She has not come near since I pointed out the page in the brochure issued by the local health authority, .that seems to disagree with her comments when official carers are on the ward visiting relatives, I gave her a copy

The winds have abated somewhat and so we went for a bike ride. Not to where we wanted to go, namely to the Wadden Sea coast as they haven't relented that much, but around the local lake and over the motorway. A decent enough 20 miles but certainly dressed for the colder climate. Enjoyed it mind you.
Camp site almost deserted after the holiday finished for the time being. From full to about 6 units on. We're off tomorrow but not far down the road just for the 3 nights. Hope to get to see some Hunebedden (Dolmens to you and me).

Gosh this site is SO SLOW today! Our youngest son has arrived from NI today so we have had the rest of the family round to see him. We are all set for our trip up to Co Durham tomorrow for the 2 funerals back home mid week. Behave yourselves while I am away 😁

Talking of ‘What are you all up to’ some of us have been contributors on CT since it’s inception. Anyone else remember those early days and the trailblazers who frequented this forum, the champions and the star system. I know CT has had high and low moments but all in all it’s been an informative and enjoyable place to post, a place for sharing and learning. A place which has helped our ever changing pastime move with the times. Don’t you think?
1 -
I do indeed remember, Micky. Some of those early posters have sadly passed on, some of us are still here soldiering on and would be pleased to see more newcomers posting.
Do you remember the mess CT was in the early days with everything jumbled in together?
1 -
I do, I remember the ‘mess’ although much of it was down to us not knowing or understanding where to post topics under the then embryonic headings. We have seen a name change amongst many changes. That ‘Caravaner of the Year’ reality TV show which saw our President taking the rear out of his caravan whilst ‘rallying’! Good times and bad it’s been a learning curve and I’m pleased to have been part of it. But yes, I agree, we need new young blood to move it ever onwards and into the future.
However, the stalwart who has seen us through, the first in my memory to reach Purple, is David. Well done to him for keeping the spirit going throughout!1 -
Ah, memories , memories, memories !
As you say, TW, I was thinking of one of the earlier posters who supported Nottingham Forest until she moved to Burton then became something of a 'split personality' -- Pauline where are you now ?? I bet you were hopping up and down over the result this week-end !!
Then there was another lady who oft times responded to my less than humorous posts with just one word ~~ " Sigh " Wotsername where are you now ??
Just one good point about the forum now-a-days, at least we don't need to speed type !!

COTY, who could forget it🥺. I reckon it set caravanning back 20 years. Thank goodness they didn't repeat it.
David (DSB) was the first to purple but was pipped at the post for first to gold and what a cheap brassy looking gold it was😆.
I've made some good friends on this forum and am grateful for that. I've come to appreciate the wisdom of some folk and the tolerance of others. I've learned things and hope I might have passed on a few tips as well.
Gee, this is getting mushy but you've made me think, Micky.

I’m sure I saw Pauline’s name a short while ago🤔. Wotser?-I sometimes wondered if she was an ex school headmistress. . .She sometimes frightened me for sure🤷🏻♂️. Even appy ippy returns now & then for the odd post, he uses a different name nowadays but his posts come up as ‘appy ippy’ on the feed I get🙂
Very different vibe these days🤷🏻♂️

It’s all this talk of jubilees and celebrations that got me thinking about things. Of the early folk I remember his lordship and Richie amongst many others? One was thought provoking to put it mildly, the other a calming influence. As for COTY I quiet enjoyed it, at least we could laugh at ‘ourselves’ if we climbed off that high horse that a few rode and accepted that we are all caravaners, motorised of otherwise and have warts and all. 🤣

The classic clip that will go into tha annals of caravanning history🤣🤣

I was a latecomer😁 CT was 6 months old when I joined. But it’s the friends and help we have made that stand out😉 Still to meet a few in the flesh, but they are there, still helping, and we are grateful.
Being mild mannered, and a shrinking violet, I never got involved in any arguments…..😎🤞

Our wedding went well, bride and groom looked radiant, the venue and food very nice, and all had a good time. So strange being dressed up and amongst others, but the sun mostly shone, so plenty of outdoor time.
Bike ride for us today hopefully, and saying goodbye to family members scattered far and wide.2 -
TW. I liked the very early days of CT when Rowena asked us what we'd like to chat about and new headings and funny comments appeared. Yes ABM, I remember Miss Whiplash with fondness!!.
I think Rowena has been the stalwart on here and the mods too, it was a step into the unknown. It was fun too. Good to see some of us have survived the ups and downs (just about...) And now I'll be getting my OH to get the box of bunting out today as we're starting to decorate our street, he's got a bad back so it will be me doing the rest! He's been asked to judge the fancy dress competition because he won it last time. It will probably be a James Herriot moment if he "misjudges" anyone's child or sartorial efforts., the neighbours might not speak to him again. 😕

I see him often at the beginning of your thread(this one) & remember the fun👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

You misremember greatly🙄, you are way more domesticated than you ever were back in the day😂😂

We did a fairly long journey on the M5 yesterday. We decided to travel on a Sunday in the hope of avoiding many lorries. However, we did encounter many caravans travelling. At one point I was driving in the middle lane at 70 when a towed caravan suddenly pulled out, without any warning, fortunately there was nothing in the outside lane and I managed to pull out. I then eventually pulled back into the inside lane, still doing around 70 and the same caravan came speeding past me. Some people really need a towing course and get others a bad name.I sometimes wonder if this type of driver is new to towing or has been doing it for some time and gets over confident. Wouldn’t want to be travelling north on this motorway next weekend, with the number of caravans and holidaymakers in Devon at the moment who will be travelling home.

We joined really late on CT. Very enjoyable, mostly, and we have had some brilliant tips and information, thanks to all. Although it can get a bit silly at times too! I joined when MM (delivered pizzas, Brighton etc) was in full flow, so many ‘head in hands’ moments there!!! 😩😂

😎 Me, domesticated? 🤣

I have had to roust up my soigneur this morning. He had changed my cycle handgrips and not done a good job. I’d sack him instantly, but I might need him later to call an ambulance, so will hang on for another day…….😉

TDA I hope you had some admiring comments about your artistic efforts for the wedding (the pretty tiara for the bride etc.)
Debsc you were lucky on the motorway to reach 70mph it was crawling when we returned with early holiday makers. On Saturday there were 40 mile queues from Gloucs through Bristol..presume everyone finally reached their destination!?
Dug out all of our bunting after a long search because it wasn't in the shed it was in the greenhouse (of course it was...
) Some of it has Diamond Jubilee printed on it, will anyone notice..
