Good to read that every one seems to have enjoyed the jubilee long weekend,

The staff at the rehab hospital made a great effort of decorating the sitting out areas especially the day room with a big television ,not that many seemed to want to watch the proceedings ,

How do they make the pictures in the sky?surprised

I did not realise how much the daily commute and visits to OH so tiring ,just knew I was sleeping more ,until yesterday when one of our neighbours asked if I was alright as she noted I was looking tiredundecided

Have managed to cut hedges and grass at homecry

Noted that the oak sapling's that have grown from acorns planted last year  are not very well as leaves going yellow on some?

JVB glad to hear things are improved with your OH.

They used 700 drones for the display very clever with computing and my OH said would have to be very good batteries and super wifi.

A drier day here today although we had some mist this morning and thought we had gone into September rather than June, just planted some marigolds and some dead heading not so much this year as with us being away decided not to plant to much will do more next year as we will be putting up a small greenhouse in the Autumn at present it is sitting in its box inside our outbuilding.

Just spoken to our friend as she had her plaster off last Friday and now got a brace on it and will be going for physio in two weeks and feels better now and able to do more things but no driving yet.

The last few days have been hectic with all the Jubilee celebrations and both our village and my wife's home village have been making up for the missed community events of the last two years-May Day celebrations, Carnivals etc.

The weather has been very kind with two fabulous days to start and then yesterday allowing our neighborhood party just enough time before the rain cam and then clearing again for the final live music event.

However, today is rather special-but why?

Well, today will see the ceremonial cleaning of the van, a ritual that takes place before every trip abroad-so that will be three years ago then-and yes, it has been cleaned in between!!

Pace yourself JV, don’t try and do too much or you will drop poorly. Daily visiting can be very tiring. Is there not a relative who might be able to give you a day off every now and then? Don’t beat yourself up about not doing daily visits, you need to be well for when she does come home👍

The oak tree issue might be chlorosis, it’s to do with the minerals in the growing soil. Don’t know a great deal about it, but you could Google to find out more. Perhaps replace most of current growing medium with something dug from local woodland where oaks do well?

One for me to catch up on as well. My abiding memory of a primary school trip to London was visiting the Tower.

A quiet day for us today, well, by recent standards anyway. Took our canopy awning down this morning after having survived the heavy overnight rain, then had a short stroll. There is a road nearby and we were strolling down this and I was fascinated by the array of quirkiness seen in quite a few front gardens, of rather nice largish detached  houses. A 6'  Plastic Toothbrush and a plastic planter in the shape of a Molar?? 3 Black Metal chickens looking like they are feeding off the grass?? How about a model railway, complete with bridge and canal with cantilever bridge?? or a Large scale model of a Mouflon?? It doesn't just happen in this area but does seem to be a sort of national trait of expressing ones own individuality.

A 4 mile walk this afternoon. Site now half empty. Off to our last site tomorrow. About 60 miles away.

    Raining as I write.

Moved on again today, we are now between Laval and Rennes on  CCP aire for the night working our way to the coast.

Weather cooler today more bearable at around 20c.

WN, I'm not surprised your site is quiet now, they are all down in the Loire 🤣 having seen very little Dutch over the last 5 weeks, this weekend the site was full of them, dozens arrived every night and then left the next morning. Where once they were in caravans now its MHs, we have seen very few caravans of any nation.

AD, on every other site we've been on its been the French that have out numbered all other nations until the last site. Maybe they don't like Blois. undecided

Glad folk had a good weekend even if the weather tried to spoil it.

Strange you mention % of M/HS in your post Tammy because the site prior to this had about 80 units on it, some seasonal, but there wasn't a Motorhome amongst them until the last day when 2 arrived. Took me a while to work out what the abnormality was.

Not a single foreign unit either apart from yours truly. We were quite the spectacle with our water connected up etc.😁 Nice and friendly though and inquisitive.

Another dry day although mainly cloudy. I didn't do a lot the morning apart from cleaning out the caravan fridge then the cassette, now recharged for our next trip, and of course our normal walk with Flyte. Then this afternoon Ithaca short walk down to the hospital for my minor op. I left the house at 2:15 and was back home by 3:15, job done. Now have to wait a week for the stitches to be removed, then we can get away again. I can, just now, feel where the surgeon removed the BCC, so it will have to be a paracetamol at bedtime. Won't get the results of the biopsy for quite a while, so we will just get on with what we normally do...touring....so have about 7 days to sort out some sites for about 6 weeks away.

Good to hear things went well Nellie👍 Planning can be enjoyable, especially if your choices then work out well and give you what you want.

We shared our Scottish tour with mainly Brits, but a good few Swiss visitors as well, and a nice French couple. It’s nice to have a mix of nations on a site.

Quiet day for us. Dog walk, stock up at Tesco for me. Too wet to garden, but should be nice tomorrow hopefully.

I think our new heating system is now complete, but still has to be put to the test.  Certainly the CH side is fine, but less sure about the HW as we are not using any of the downstairs bathrooms at present.  OH said there was HW in the utility room, so that is a good sign, but we only ran the boiler for about 20 minutes.  There may be some air in the system still.

The plumber will be back from his holidays before we are, so will be available if necessary.

The new HW cylinder is a very nice shade of blue, a change from the previous beige one.  It is insulated, but we may consider fitting an extra "jacket" We will take the old copper cylinder to the scrap yard, bound to be worth something!  I have some lead to dispose of too.

Tomorrow OH gets her new glasses, then we are going out for brunch with DD to celebrate her birthday.

Managed to get the caravan all cleaned, inside, this afternoon, so should be OK now for loading up on Thursday.

Looks like you are ready to enjoy your holiday now Kj, hope you can relax! We haven't got our house "jobs"done as intended this year but we're having to concentrate getting our garden sorted for the local open gardens session which is looming large! We don't have manicured gardens but we're trying to make them look their best. Also looking after a neighbours greenhouse this week. After that we hope to have a couple of short breaks. I like reading about other's long breaks but I don't think we've ever managed or wanted to leave home for more than three weeks at most.

Hope the Nellie's enjoy their break, my sister has just had the same op.

Our daughter and partner have chosen their new rescue  terrier so no doubt we'll be having two visiting dogs soon! Always something to keep us on our toes!!🐕🐶

A bit cold and wet here yesterday at Sutton-on-Sea.  Went to visit Bolingbroke Castle and then on to Horncastle.  Very quiet at Horncastle - perhaps folk are still in 'bank holiday mood'?  Managed to find a cafe open for the obligatory hot drink, and we also had some 'plum bread'.  Today is still looking a little dull, but hopefully we'll get chance for, at least, a little walk on the beach.....

Our holiday is getting ever closer, and I'm amazed how much stuff is already piled high in the hall, waiting to be loaded. Drinks, mixers, biscuits, snacks, books. Fresh and frozen food to be added along with all the techie stuff, and new television.

We will have to watch out for stowaways - one of the farm cats made himself at home on the front seat while OH primed and flushed out the water system last night.

But first, the ever present paperwork, dinners to cook and then check that anything that needs to be charged is charged and the chargers are on the pile in the hall.

Oops! And don't forget some clothes!

We have been without Internet all last week but, hurrah! , yesterday the "men at work" were ... er .... back "at work" and normal service has been resumed. Thank goodness we have a solid 4g signal, so I've been able to read what folks are posting but just not bothering to try to type on my small phone screen.

Glad everyone who's away seem to be having a good time in spite of the various storms (some great photos, thanks for those) and glad everyone enjoyed the jubilee celebrations. We still have to catch up on the pageant, we were having our own little celebration in the close, so it'll be small doses at a time on iPlayer.

Nellie - glad your little op went OK,  by complete coincidence Mrs M had the same thing done just last week, a little mole removed which we hadn't thought anything about but the dentist of all people said she should get checked out. All fine now.

JVB, things seem to be moving in the right direction for you and OH too which must be a relief.

Sorry if I've missed anyone out - will have to try to get back to daily reading now! laughing

OH’s op is delayed, should have been tomorrow. He has a slight cold, nothing more sinister, but the risks have been deemed too great, so it’s on hold. Anaesthetist had a good long chat with him, it will be planned asap once he is absolutely 100%. Sun is shining here, so we shall enjoy the day.

David, a question on the best route into Sutton on Sea, the directions on CAMC are a little vague. I am coming down the A16 and bypassing Louth, what route did you take please.

Frustrating really. Two years of avoiding COVID, and then along comes a mild cold, just at the worst possible time. But it will be rescheduled, and from what he’s been told, it’s not something you want doing if you are less than 100%. Thanks though.🙂

Oh Ttda. So sorry to hear about the setback. I suppose it's better being just a cold rather the dreaded other.

We had an easy drive over to our last stop at Dordrecht. It's a bit strange being on the edge of a city but it's quite "French" like and seems fine. It's been a beautiful day weather wise and sitting out in the awning later on we were able to watch a Sea Eagle gilding around on the thermals in the sky for about 10 minutes.

Looks like the weather is changing for tomorrow though so we may take a trip into the centre of the city as it's supposed to be lovely and as well as being the oldest city in the Netherlands it's also the place where independence was declared back in the 16th.Century so it has some history.

Good to hear of Nellie's op going well. He must be itching to get away.winklaughing

After a very nice quiet overnight on the CCP aire last night, it used to be a Municipal site but has been rescued by the CCP organization. They are doing this all over France. Its a win win for the little villages as they retain the visitors without having the costs of running a site. Lovely little village.

Today we arrived at Pontsoron to visit the Mont St Michel. Our friends arrived a few hours after us as they had a longer drive. Probably stop here until the weekend, it's a nice site with good big pitches surrounded by hedges. Ours backs onto the canal that we cycle along to get to the Mont. Nice outdoor pool, all we need is for the clouds to clear and the wet stuff to go away laughing

Lots of Dutch here, a few Brits, a few French and even 1 German lady in her VW camper. As always on this trip the MHs out number the caravans.

Only a week left until we catch the ferry frown5 weeks has its flown by, lots of jobs at home waiting for us over the summer but still hoping to get away in the caravan at some point.

Thanks, millie, and everyone else too. We have not yet finalised where we will be going but it looks as if Wales is on the cards, or possibly Yorkshire. It will be a relatively short trip for us, about 6weeks all being well, as we have to be back home for dental appointments and the biopsy result before the end of July.

Glad to read that Mrs M's OP went well, and your sister's too, brue. Fingers crossed that the results are clear for all.

Sorry to hear that your OH has had to have his OP postponed, tda. Hopefully he will soon be 100% fit again and that the delay is a short one.  Best wishes to him for when it goes ahead.

Itching is the operative word, WN, following the application of the cream that I had to put on for 4 weeks, and that has taken half my skin away.

Had a phone call this morning informing me that a district nurse will come to our house next Monday to remove the stitches, and then we can get away.

Looks like you're coming from the North, Metheven.  Come down the A16 until you get to the roundabout at Ulceby Cross (the junction with the A1104/ A1028).  Take the A1104 towards Alford.  Just as you have driven through Alford, take the A1111 towards Sutton-on-Sea.  Stay on the A1111 until you get to Sutton-on-Sea.... When you get to Sutton-on-Sea, at the roundabout  go down the A52 towards Skegness (Station Road).  As you come out of Sutton-on-Sea, you will need to turn right into Crabtree Lane.  (Unusually, there are no signposts to say there is a CAMC site) - you will need to follow the white local sign to Sutton Ings.  As you turn into Crabtree Lane, there is a blue sign that says 'Unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles'.... don't let this put you off. Drive down the road, past the houses (+the parked cars).  As you come out into the 'countryside', you will pass Jasmine Camping just before the CAMC site on the left.  The road past the houses does narrow a bit...

If you follow a SatNav, it may well tell you to turn right, from the A1111 before you get to Sutton-on-Sea.  AVOID/ ignore this...it will take you on a single track road and should you meet a vehicle coming the other way, it may well be a problem if you are towing.  Follow the directions in my first paragraph....

Although we didn't come down the A16 from Louth, we did travel on the A1104 through Alford, and A1111 into Sutton.  The roads aren't brilliant, but are OK...

    Hope this helps...

    David

Very helpful David, I wasn't sure whether to turn off at Ulceby Cross at route recommended by you, or to travel further south and come up the A52.

    Thanks again.

It's one of those places where the site isn't quite in the named place, so the actual turning is at Sandilands (nice access to the very long traffic free promenade there, great for cycling.) On our trip there we arrived via Alford and DSBs directions. smile

I think the A52 from Skeggy is actually quite a windy road and its a but of a longer way around.  We were fine with the A1111 way...  Hope it works out OK..
