Lovely day in East Kent,slight Northerly breeze,sunny with broken clouds.Worked out a pulley system for a gangplank access onto a pontoon ,involving a length of rope attached to a 56Lb weight ,,,works a treat !! As the pontoon comes up with the tide ,,so the weight keeps the rope taught as a handhold !!Arcimedies ?? ??

A double treat for us today - we drove down to see Glendurgan Gardens and then on to Trebah. Both are looking magnificent at the moment with carpets of bluebells under the rhododendrons at Glendurgan and at Trebah the gunera ( giant rhubarb!) is just beginning to flex its muscles. Had to take it in turns at Geldurgan as dogs are not allowed in - no great hardship though to spend an hour reading under the trees inthe car park! Trebah, on the other hand does allow dogs - and they get a treat from the friendly ladies at the reception! (Also 2 for 1 with the Gardeners World card).
Doesn't get much better than this!

Trebah is our favourite Cornish Garden now that Trevarno is no longer open. Lovely out of busy times with that nice little beach at the bottom. We haven't been round Glendurgan, would spoil it not being able to go around together, and usually far too warm to leave dogs. Trust annoys us with this one!
We have enjoyed Lanhydrock gardens as well.

Great flight down to Turweston in Buckinghamshire today.
We need a new radio for the aircraft and went to look at them in a store on the airfield.
Fabulous airfield with a lot going on there.
On the drive home I saw dozens of caravans and motorhomes heading east on the A64, presumably heading for York, North Yorkshire and the East coast.

Spent the day at Dumfries House, a Palladian country house in East Ayrshire that was saved for the nation in 2007 following the intervention by Prince Charles when the house and it's contents were going to be sold of willi nilly. Walked round the estate in the morning and then had a House tour in the afternoon. Very interesting day out, even though we had to abandon the tour early when OH felt unwell.

I wouldn't qualify for pension credit, Ian because with earnings from Pizza Hut plus the state pension and other income, I would be well over the £245.25 threshold for a married couple, so I would get nowt!

So far this year not had any flies splatting on the car windscreen. Then, yesterday travelling from Old Hartley to Berwick Seaview we were about 7 miles short of Berwick-upon-Tweed when over a one mile stretch it sounded as if we were driving through rain as they splattered over the screen.

I will be walking along Gorleston beach to the cliffs (such as they are
) to see if I can get any decent shots of the sand martins at the nest site.Might even watch qualifying for the Russian GP

Back home after few days away. Both are still poorly so not explored much 😕 a walk into the village on our last day! Beautiful sunny morning here, some rain whilst we were away filled the waterbutts up slightly, from about a quarter to three quarters so not much! About to peg out washing and will have to get some supplies very soon. I wish this dizziness/vertigo would disappear. Had it since Monday affecting only right side ear, vision slightly and a sore throat 😕 hubby has an actual cold now with achiness. Enjoy your bank holiday weekend folks.

Yes, fairly busy.
Today will be a busy day too. It's our moving day. So we're in the process of packing the caravan ready for departure for our two nights away at the Findon site.
I'm also working tonight from 6 to 10.

Well moving sites is a non-related work activity I think!
The plan is to hitch up the Shogun to the caravan, sign out at reception and then travel to Charmill Cottage CS via Long Furlong. Then we need to bring the Shogun back here and swap it over for the Smart car.

Know Turweston well Ian, used to live in Brackley, we kept our ponies in Turweston and would ride round the airfield, mind you no planes back then 😉 it's changed a lot now. What it will be like when HS2 goes through the village I don't know, but it won't improve it I'am sure.😕

Hopefully, none for the Shogun but we did have to pay the site owner here £26 for the two nights with EHU. Anyhow, it makes a change to stay on a different site and the weather has been kind today. Findon cricket club is in the next field and there's a match going on as I type this.

Lovely sunny afternoon here in Findon. We had lunch in the caravan and we've got the picnic table and relaxer set up outside. Now we're having a cup of tea. I've still got three hours left before starting work.

Sunny periods here much warmer today ,Just got back from a walk through our local ancient woods , smothered in bluebells really heady aroma, and the open grasslands huge carpets of cowslips ,the trees a wonderful colour range of young fresh green leaves,two munjac deer on edge of woods ,which we would not have seen if we still had our collie, as she would have seen them first, as usual had left camera at home,
now kettle on time for tiffin

Very cold wind this morning but brightened up nicely this afternoon. So of to the bakery at St Agnes for a couple of their giant pasties (I know further down the coast Phipp's are supposed to be the best, but around parts the bakery ones take some beating!). Drove to St Agnes Head to eat them looking out over the views to Godrevy and St Ives. Then to shed a few of the calories (and a bit of the guilt!) we walked along to Chapel Porth, resisted an ice cream, and came back over the Beacon. Looking down at the club site, it appeared fairly busy but maybe not full, surprising for a Bank Holiday weekend.

Didn't know about HS2 going through there, H&T. What a shame if it affects the airfield, because the owner has clearly spent a load of money there, including a 3-storey glass fronted building facing the runway. Control tower at the top and a very nice cafe on the second floor - recommended!
That HS2 is more trouble than it's worth!
