Some photos for you Brue. I will be doing a full review of CL when we get home.
Views towards Avebury area, our hour in the shade pitch, (with our closest neighbours in the distance) which is a bit of hardstanding way down close to the canal levee. We were only 25 metres from this canal bridge, it is a footpath, and quite well used by bargees and other walkers. They were a very friendly bunch though, just touring in a different way!

We'll be heading that way on Sunday Ttda, staying near to the canal but on an EHU CL site, but a bit further east than you were.  Will be taking in a nice walk we have planned around Avebury, amongst others.

Oops, got my bottoms mixed up.😱 Definitely Scratchy! It was a nice shortish walk for us today over that way. Far too many people doing the tourist trip to Durdle Door but hardly anyone off the beaten track. We had lunch sitting looking at the famous piece of rock but couldn't spot Tammy anywhere.🤣 Seems she's skipped abroad. Hope you are enjoying the trip TG.

Weather was most kind again today.

This afternoon we returned to Athelhampton as the Tea Room beckoned. I had a wander over to the church as promised Bakers and it is indeed Greek Orthodox so your sanity is safe for the moment. Unfortunately it was locked, probably just as well if they have Icons in there, but the staff at the House confirmed the nature of the church. Most unusual place to have one, deep in Dorset countryside.

    When do you move Nellie?

Hope the Arts festival goes well for you and your daughter Brue. Shame we couldn't't be in Somerset for it.

We enjoyed Avebury. Arrived nice and early, so missed the crowds. And it does get busy, at least close to the village. You have to dodge the diviner’s as well. It’s a place where folks get up to some mysterious doings. All the more interesting for it. There’s a good NT second hand bookshop👍

Got to decide what to do for our last travel day home. Might be Charlecote🤔 Or Hidcote. Not sure OH is up to another garden, and MH is starting to resemble a mobile botanical garden🤣

Great to read everyone who is away is having a good time.

We left home late yesterday afternoon and made the short trip up to Strathclyde Park club site for the night then made the easy 2 hour tow across to Berwick today. Site here is busy but when we arrived the weather was dull but warm. Went in to the town for a couple of hours SWMBO went to a few shops while I went for a pint of ale. Got a pitch with a nice view so sitting cooking burgers on the Cadac with a beer in hand admiring our surroundings. Plan tomorrow is a cycle in the morning then maybe a visit to Lindisfarne i think.

Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

    Well, that's a nuisance.

Just had a nice crispy Pizza and I think it was a bit too crispy as I've taken a chunk off one of my molars. I think it's being held together by amalgam at the moment. There's no pain but I'm out for a meal tomorrow with my brother and clan so hoping it stays that way.

We do have a dental appointment for a check up booked for the Monday after we get home but that's a fortnight away. I have Denplan so if the worst comes to the worst I'll ring them. Why does it always happen on a weekend?

Take extra care with those burgers Francis, don't overdo them.smile

Wow pleased memory recall is OK, sadly it's the short term that worries me more 😉🤣

We visited on a Sunday I believe, and I'm a great explorer of churches. OH stayed outside, as usual, when I opened the door I couldn't believe my eyes. There was a chap there and we had a good chat. I'm sure I recall it because

    a) it was so very surprising to find it wasn't CofE

    b) it is so deep in the countryside and if there wasn't enough CofE worshippers to keep it going it seemed unlikely they would be enough Greek Orthodox worshippers, clearly I was wrong as it must been 7 or more years ago.

But certainly worth a look if you're in the area.

Sorry about your tooth, fingers crossed it will last. Buy some sensitive toothpaste and apply it neat if you get a twinge. Recommended by my dentist.

Both of us at the dentist today, me check up and clean, my sensitive teeth still OK thankfully . OH this afternoon, to remove the root of his front tooth which broke off several weeks ago, he has a plate with one on temporarily 😱, dentist reckons his teeth suffered along with his body when he had his episode. Luckily it came out without too much hassle, dentist had feared it would need an incision to remove it but waiting several weeks seems to have paid off. 5 injections ensured it was pain-free

Have a great weekend folks wherever and however you spend it.

Thanks Bakers. Mrs WN uses Sensitive toothpaste all of the time so I'll just pinch some of hers.

The staff at the House said that they used to have keys for the church but that stopped a few years ago. Pity really. Quite like a look around a church. Some interesting history usually tied up with it.

We saw quite a few Russian Orthodox ones when we were in Nice last. Ornate doesn't begin to describe them. A lot of Russian exiles found a new home in Nice after the revolution. Always find walking around a city so much more informative than anything else.

I am expecting (hoping🤞🤞🤞) to find a letter at home about having a wisdom tooth out at our local hospital. Dentist cannot do it. It’s cracked, only the odd slight twinge, dentist thinks root is dying , so we agreed removing the little blighter would be best long term. Not looking forward to it at all. Anything is better than toothache though

Brue, we are in Grau d'Agde southern France.

Lovely day here, blue skies and 27c. Did the shopping for the weekend this morning, 4 panier bags full of goodies smile

This afternoon we took a cycle to the beach and had a couple of hours there, even managed a swim in the sea. It was way warmer than the swimming pool, think we might have to do it again laughing

Change of plans, we've decided not to go down to Spain from here but to cross over to the west coast of France via the Pyrennes then go and explore a bit of north west Spain. That's if the good weather holds up.

WN,  glad you had a nice day, even if you couldn't find me laughinglaughinglaughing hope the tooth holds up.

Francis, have a good trip. It must be about a year ago we met at Berwick.

    When do you move Nellie?

We head down to The Barton on Sunday, same day as you move on. Where next?wink.     See what I did.😁

Tda, I think you did right not cycling along the towpath, the way things have gone for you lately.laughing Safe journey home.

Brue, We say posters for the Somerset Arts Week yesterday as we headed towards Glastonbury.

Bakers, there are quite a few Orthodox churches about in the strangest of places. There's a Russian one at Wallsingham, and a Coptic one at Arthington near Harewood House, that we've seen on our travels.

Francis, enjoy your time at Berwick. Hope the burgers turned out well cooked, but not too well done.

Walked from Priddy today, over fields dodging the cattle, to Crooks Field NR, through Deerleap AL and around the top of Ebbor Gorge. Weather stayed fine and the sun came out during the afternoon, so we were able to get another round of washing done and dried when we got back.

Hope the tooth holds out until you get home WN. What bad luck. Hope it doesnt spoil the rest of your holiday.

We had a surprise visit from our daughter and our 21 month old great grandson this afternoon.(she looks after him on Fridays) It was so lovely to see them both. It would be our daughter Lucy Kate's 47th birthday tomorrow (she sadly died aged 3 months) so extra special. Our son in NI also rang to say he and our grand-daughter are coming over for a few days during half term at the end of next month. 😊

Hi TG, how lovely!  Last time we were in Grau d'Agde was September 2019, we were staying in Marseillan Plage and cycled to there (and back!).  Are you staying at one of the campsites there, Pepiniere, Les Romarins or Neptune?  We are still wondering whether to go in October, but sites are closing then, and the weather not as good, so probably won't.  Other commitments mean we couln't have gone in September.

But there is always next year and we're both looking forward to returning to the part of France where you are at the moment.  Enjoy!

Hi Ina, we are on La Pepiniere this time. We were here in May 2019, its more open for the satellite than either Neptune or Romarins.

We do like Romarins though but its all closed up. The big trees have been cut back a lot they did that in 2019 but it doesn't look as if its been open at all this year. Todays not as hot only 25c laughing we were at the beach earlier but the clouds started to build so we came back to the van.

We had thought about the Marseillan plage as some sites are open for longer there but changed our minds at the last minute, we've done a lot of that this trip. Was thinking of going from here to the bay of Roses but decided we've had enough of beaches so going back to the mountains. Heading west from here.

Everything is fine over here, enough folk out and about to make it feel normal. Not a lot of brits about and we seem to be missing your country folk in this area. Lots of French on this site.

Had a nice long lunch with my brother, SiL, Nephew and his fiancee today.

They chose a Full on Gluten Free pub to eat in, advertising itself as the first in the country to go GF. Must admit we enjoyed the meal even if the portions were rather large for us. Couldn't fault it. Made a nice change not having to worry about anything like cross contamination or whether the chef really understands your requirements or not. The tooth seems to be standing up fine. I can see a fee for a Cap coming on.

It was nice to meet the "kids" as well. Not met the fiancee before. The drive to get there was a bit of a pain but as we weren't doing anything else today it somehow didn't matter too much.

Off tomorrow but we're stuck on the CL until 11.15+ due to an "Ironman" competition closing local roads so hopefully a relaxing pack up.

We are just waiting for our chinese takeaway and then 11 year old grand-daughter and I will be watching Strictly. 14 year old grandson will not be watching Strictly 😁. He will be 'gaming' with his friends on his laptop. Not sure what OH will be doing 😏

Glad your tooth held up WN and glad you had a nice family get together.

Glad that your tooth held up ok during your meal, WN. Hope it does not get any worse before you get home. Safe trip tomorrow.

We had another walk from Priddy today, this time around to North Hill and Priddy Nine Burrows. Had another encounter with a herd of cows, this time they followed us rather too closely for a while.😲😲 It was a sunny, warm morning with a refreshing breeze, but clouded up in the afternoon and we had a few spots of rain too. Our last night here before we move further south and over towards the coast.

We are back home😁 What a glorious day as well. We left M-in-M this morning, just as the mist had burnt off, in lovely hot sunshine.Drove up Fosse Way, across to Ashby de la Zouch, and that’s where our plans went slightly astray. Carnival weekend, so no parking for Castle. But, plan B worked out well, and we had a lovely afternoon at Calke Abbey instead. Very hot, we did a bit of a walk, needed hats, suntan cream and water bottles. Continued back across to Loughborough, picked up A46, and home via the A roads. So nice ignoring the motorways. The M1 looked very busy, and we know there are roadworks on M69, so glad we avoided.

Garden is like a jungle. Plenty to get stuck into before our next off.👍

Hi TG, we've never stayed at Pepiniere.  Come to think about it, when we cycled to Grau d'Agde in September 2019, I now remember that Les Romarins looked closed then, and the trees had been cut back.  We put the closure down to it being late-ish in the year at the time.  friends have stayed at Pepiniere in the past and liked it.

Suppose the French are having staycations too, hence more of them in France presumably wink There used to be a lot of Brits and Dutch in that area whenever we've been.

Glad you're having a good time, enjoy the mountains when you get there TG.

Catching up with all the travel news and visits on here. So glad you had a nice visit and stay with the family Millie, filling up new memories, what did you think of the Strictly start?

Interesting to hear where our intrepid foreign travellers are.

A GF pub WN, that was a find.

Our daughter's open studios got off to a good start yesterday...we get Monday off! Must go and sweep the paths in a minute, the Rowan berries have decided to fall on the walk in bit. It's a big tree we grew from a seedling found by the Spey in Aviemore. Local radio will be visiting at some point in the days ahead. We weren't expecting that! A lovely visitor brought a cake late in the day so that was a treat.

I think we have a reasonable day ahead weatherwise. The sun is shining. Hope you all have a good day too.smile
