We have just had a weekend at Haycraft near Swanage in Purbeck. The weather was dismal but there were some dry patches so we had long walks along the beach at Studland and ordered a pint of real ale outside at the Bankes Arms, I persevered with this on line order, against my better judgement, trying to see my phone in the bright light! I guess this will be the state of things to come, what happened to trying a couple of real ales before you decide!! We only live in Bournemouth so we were only 25 miles from home, bit it really felt like a good weekend break away. Club Wifi was good, the site is always a pleasure, despite strong winds and rain, the only thing I could not test was our new air awning- too difficult in the wind and rain!

We had the same problem, TJT, last year in September when ordering from a pub. Had to download an app and then place your order and pay for it. It too was sunny and Mrs WN had to find a tree to block it out.
Finished packing the caravan for the most part today. Overnight stuff, toiletries and breakfast food to go in tomorrow. We can't set off until just after lunch as we are waiting in, "for a man to call" (no rude comments please
)Then off to Angelsey for a week.
Any Hi-Fi geeks amongst us? The new CD player is flirting with the Sky remote control. The Hi-Fi people say that it's probably something to do with the I.R.frequency and suggest I update my Sky Box to "Q" from HD+. Bit reluctant to spend more money with Sky. So any alternative solutions?

Hi Millie. So sorry to read this. I'm sure you will miss it, but no doubt it will open up other opportunities too. We're up to Lewis/ Harris to see out eldest daughter and son-in-law at the end of August and have decided to hire a cottage instead of taking the caravan - just not really cost effective for a week with the extra fuel, ferry cost, and site fees - and we don't really know what to expect with the sites up there - there are mixed reports!! We've decided to take my sister and brother-in-law, and our youngest daughter and boyfriend. We wouldn't have been able to do this had we have taken the caravan. It will be a different sort of a week, but we're looking forward to it.

I don't know how many of you use Chrome as your default browser on a PC or Laptop? A few weeks ago I suddenly couldn't get any sound on the BBC iPlayer. No problem with other browsers so it wasn't the PC. I have search and searched on Google for an answer without success as most mention settings which I just don't have in Chrome. I started looking at online YouTube tutorials without much success and suddenly found the one video that solved my problem with a very simple solution. Users of Chrome will probably know that Chrome does not like the http protocol and often flags this up as insecure. It would much prefer us to us websites with the https prefix. For some reason the BBC website uses http, so no s on the end and this is what has prevent the sound from playing. The very simple solution I discovered was to right click on the little padlock symbol in from of the web address which gives you a drop down menu where you can change the sound settings. Having used computers for what must be 25 years I am always amazed when I learn something new, especially when its so simple.

I remember that incident well, was it only last year? Funny how my memory works since Covid arrived!!!
It was well worth the wait, though!Hope you have a safe journey to Anglesey, and have a good time there.
Fine but windy day after a dubious start. Had a couple of walks, one along an old canal/railway line and a second to Arthur's Stone/Maen Ceri burial chamber on the Cefn Bryn ridge.

OH had an emergency trip to the dentist today . Started with a slight pain yesterday, much worse this morning so rang at 11.30 and was given a 1 pm appointment, which I thought was impressive service.
Turns out there was decay setting in under an old filling, so it seems it will be either root canal treatment or extraction. Tooth has been cleaned out and a dressing applied to see if it settles down. Still a bit painful so she has taken more painkillers and has been sleeping most of the evening .

Brue - Millie - TDA
This was our second visit to this site, first one a couple of years ago. We decided to return as we hadn’t realised Tarr Steps was only a short drive away. Yes, Dulverton is a very nice (small) town, in a lovely setting. We were only there for a few days, due to family commitments (returned today), so that coupled with less than great weather (rain) meant that we didn’t get to do much. Had a nice drive out yesterday (Sunday) to Porlock via Dunkery Beacon, a spectacular spot for viewing the surrounding area. Our next trip out will be our (seemingly) annual visit to Cirencester.

Freddy, Dunkery is beautiful, sometimes I stagger up to the top if the weather is good but the drive itself is worth the effort.
I'm a fan of the area, I love Selworthy too...and the local tea rooms.
DK we inadvertently switched to Chrome recently but it limited so much of our normal on line usage that we stopped it. If there are better ways to use it they seem obscure, maybe just me?!
We'll be off soon, our long trip north via six sites, this is less relaxing packing etc than our quick trip to the SW. But it will be great to see the family mid way.
Hope all the trips are going well for everyone.
Food delivery for us and the neighbours expected any minute!

OH has just cancelled our Caravan Club membership so I might disappear from CT for a while. I need to find out how to register on here as a non member. Can anyone help? How long does it take?
I hope you have a lovely trip up north brue. It is going to be very special to see your family after so long.

Millie - I don't think you need to reregister. The "member" will just disappear from your avatar. At least I think that was what happened when we left the club. I might have emailed Rowena as well to let her know. It's good that non members are still allowed on the forum, lots of experience at hand and sites to recommend.

I don't think you need to register again Millie. It's my understanding that Milliehull remains registered on CT but the Member banner will vanish once your membership expires. You might get caught up in the pre-approval rigmarole as a non-member but Ro can sort that out.
Whoops. Cross posted with M.🙂

I don’t think you will disappear Millie😁 As M says, you just lose the “Member” banner under your photo. It’s what happened to us last year for a while.
Have a lovely tour Brue, we are just researching Sites for OH’s solo drive up to Scotland with MH. I am following on with Jeep later in week up to cottage.

My lockdown nightmare K. I suffered with abscess after abscess and the pain is off the scale. I hope your OH gets sorted ASAP.

Gulp .... I have an appointment in a couple of weeks time to have a couple of broken teeth removed (or as Mrs M would have it, any remaining vestiges of wisdom removed
). Because I have a very strong gag reflex it's got to be done under "conscious sedation" at the dental hospital in Devizes.Looking forward to it I am not, as Yoda would doubtless say.

Milliehull I agree with moulsey and takethedogalong no need to do anything. I seem to recall I carried on posting for a bit, then my posts didn't appear for a bit, then they did. As with this forum a bit of a mystery 😂. Heard nothing one day just reappeared minus the member banner.
Good to hear of swift dental service KjellNN. Moulsey good luck with your appointment, my OH suffers in the same way although in the 30 years we've been with this dentist it is much improved and he manages with local anesthesia certainly wasn't always the case, but trust and sympathetic understanding has a lot to do with it.
Have good times those already away and those preparing for going.
Day of sunshine and heavy showers here.

I used to grind my teeth in my sleep (work related stress). It set off all sorts of issues for me. I hate visiting the dentists, but go to every check up etc.....
I had to take my Dad to dental unit in our hospital for his last few teeth out in his late 80’s. Hospital were brilliant with him M, it didn’t bother him at all. Hope things go well for you👍

Much improved today thankfully, she was feeling pretty rough last night with the residual pain up to her eyes and round to her ears, but did manage to sleep for a bit.
The culprit tooth is fine now, but the pain elsewhere is lingering a little.
Hope your op goes well M. I remember many years back OH had one wisdom tooth left, a huge one, and it needed to be removed, so they sent her to the hospital as they thought it would be a big job.
Afterwards the surgeon came to check on her and said it took hardly any effort to remove it as it only had a small root, OH said he sounded very disappointed!

Best of luck moulesy. I can understand how you feel but I am sure it will be fine. Best to get rid of them. Good to hear that hospitals are getting back to routine work. I hope KjNn's OH's recovery continues and she gets a good night's sleep tonight. Toothache is so miserable.
Happy birthday DSB. 🎂
What 'interesting' weather at the moment. One minute bright sunshine, the next torrential rain with thunder and lightening. Washing out, wsshing in washing out again. One minute enjoying gardening in the sunshine, the next dashing for cover in the greenhouse. At least the plants seem to appreciate it as things are beginning to bloom at last. We cleaned our caravan thoroughly before taking to sell but by time we had towed it to the dealer it was spattered with mud all over the front 😫. The sale went fine. They offered slightly more than the price quoted on the phone as they were pleased with it's condition which was a bonus. Sad to drive away and leave it there though. However I am sure we have made the right decision.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments
