I think people need to start a separate post on all things cost related , this thread started as general opinion on sites without toilet blocks & a slight increase in pitch price .

What ever the increase , still seems reasonable to me .

Since the Club have stated that  increased utility costs are among the things contributing to the inflation busting price rises on all their sites, the discussion of the price and use of electricity is very relevant.

New vans , 5 sockets it's pretty clear £1.50 increase a night won't be to much of a hardship for some members , it's just something else to debate I guess & waffle about

I totally agree, in instances like this its easy to jump to superficial conclusions, the power of discussion is that it allows us to explore other possibilities, some of which you may not have considered And possibly see the bigger picture. There are those
I have come across in life mind that just seem to stick with their own first thoughts and fly in the face of what is developing in front of them.

The van we have on order has 5 internal mains sockets ,1 outside mains socket and 1 electric hotplate,so it seems the industry are responding to the what the market is expecting, then mains fridge/mains water heater and space heater, so consumption is expected
to increase,so it would never be viable for any of the clubs or cls to spend large amounts of money in an attempt to reduce peoples need for EHU

I think there is often a big difference between what one NEEDS to use, and what one will actually use if one is not actually paying directly for that use.

I would think 99% of us try to limit how much electricity  we use at home, but do not bother much when on holiday.

I must be part of the 1% then. I use whatever electricity and gas I need to enjoy my home and hobbies and keep warm. I really cannot remember (if I ever did) when I decided not to use an electric (or gas) appliance thinking 'that will cost too much'.

Do you really do this? Can you offer some examples of what you do? You actually
limit the amount of electricity you use at home?  if so I suggest you sell your outfit and start living within your means

Thank you for your concern, but I can assure you that we are not in any danger of being cold in our own home, or of living beyond our means.

Anything saved on fuel costs means we can make even better use of our outfit.

And the 25% + that we are saving by switching supplier twice in 6 months should pay for a few extra weeks site fees too.

Well I was concerned for a few moments, you hear so many stories of older people (not saying you're old of course) not being warm, you know those who waste their winter heating allowance on drink or McDonalds...

    Point taken, no offense meant!

None taken Corners,  but wouldn't want you to be worrying about we old folk......yes we are getting on a bit.

After a quick calculation, and deducting our winter fuel allowance  Innocent ,  I reckon we too spend about 4% of our "take home pay" on
    gas and electricity.

We too have the same issue. They obviously don't trust us enough to accept that we know what we are doing.

..us too, but it's not trust I suspect, it's a computer looking at uncharacteristic/expected patterns of use and data. I know some canabis farms have been identified using such techniques!Wink

We have a smart meter that sends in it's readings using an in built SIM card, but they still check periodically to see if we have by-passed it.

We had to get a new meter when we got solar panels on the roof, the old one was going backwards!!

Having panels also plays havoc with any estimates they decide to make, as does spending 3-4 months away in one go.

Mods - this thread has drifted way off the original subject of huge price increases on CC sites.

You are usually very attentive to this......why not here?

Well KJ did mention further falling fuel prices in all this (probably too late when the CC were setting prices.) I checked ours and they had dropped this month and I've changed our tarriff yet again, so thanks KJ! Let's hope this will show up in next years
round of CC prices....what, you don't believe me?WinkHappy

Well I doubt they can absorb the costs, they haven't been able to this year so I think we can see annual increases in keeping with the rises in the NLW. I gather that will be over 5 years the target being £9 per hour.
