Price increase for the sites without toilet blocks
The Caravan club are pricing themselves out of the market. How can they justify the increase of £1.50 a night for the sites such as Much Wenlock.

It is a lovely site, make the most of it! It is closing for good at the end of this season. Not the only site under threat of closure either sadly. The price without a toilet block is actually quite reasonable if you compare it with a lot of CLs. Most of
the pitches are hard standing, and it does have Wardens on site, plus quite a few other amenities such as MH service point and firefighting equipment. There are a good few CLs that don't provide as much for a similar price. Such a shame it is going though.

Not sure how things are going regards Bromyard Downs as well, another no facility block site in the same area. We signed a petition regarding keeping this open as well last year. I think it is to do with the land lease. Another basic but very nice site in
a good location. We are using Club Sites less and less nowadays, usually stick to these basic sites in Summer months, and use others in Winter when prices are good. Having said that, we have just returned from Ferry Meadows, not our usual sort of place at
all, but we had a lovely time!0 -
It's such a shame that the club is losing these sites, we really need more like them not less. The increase of £1.50 per night is a bit more than past increases but they are still good value especially in the summer months.

You are not forced to go to these sites, if you think that such an increase is too much and/or if you can find a cheaper alternative then go elsewhere. My own view is that the sites will still be as popular as ever and that £1.50 a night in insignificant
compared to the cost of a carvan/MH, petrol...0 -
Irene - you are absolutely correct, the increases to site fees this year (both with and without facilities sites) are particularly high and much more than can be justified.
Simply expecting members to go elsewhere if they don't like it displays a level of arrogance within the CC management.....something that they will live to regret as the exodus to other sites grows year on year.

What exodus is that, they still seem fairly difficult to get into at the peak (most expensive) times of the year.
+1 there Steve, year on year it is getting more difficult to book, year on year you end up having to book earlier and earlier to get the sites you want.

If you really think an increase of £1.50 a night will stop people booking days away , its still value for my money any day of the week

However, it would be interesting to know its cost in peak season. They don't seem to want to tell you on the web site, you have to ring up. Also arrivals not before 2pm
and leave by 11am, plus 2 night minimum stay (3 in school hols) might not suit all. The point I am make is, that more does not necessarily equate with better, at least in ours and quite a few others eyes.0 -

I have just booked 2 weeks from the 15th April to the Haven Site Greenacres nr Porthmadog which we have stayed on many times, cost £184 50p super pitch with all the facilities swimming pool entertainment etc. Compare this with the New Forest Centennary Site
same time cost £310.80.Brian.

I've booked three sites this year and only one, a specualtive booking, is with the Club. The other two are with the C&CC and both were cheaper than the nearest Club sites. I have booked a Euro Tunnel crossing using Tescos vouchers and will roam freely (no bookings) on my Continental travels for 6 weeks. Haven't made my mind up who I will insure with yet but if I can get the deal I think I can, it won't be RP. Club sites are verging on the uncompetitive in my view especially when you take into account your subscription.

Hi All,
We are at Sandringham at the moment and the Site is almost full. Next door at the Camping and Caravan club site they have 30 to35 vans on site so The Caravan Club must be doing something right.

Hmm... Porthmadog and New Forest - hardly in the same parish are they? I'm not going to defend the CC pricing policy for a minute, but out of interest, is that Haven deal a special deal for the fortnight? How much would it be on a single night basis? The
club could certainly learn from other providers about special deals, but if you're going to compare surely you have to don't like for like?0 -

Penrhos (CC Anglesey) - 16 April £17.60 per night for 2 adults + 2 dogs.
Now I know Penrhos doesn't have all those fancy facilities that Haven offer (and frankly I'd be happy to pay more to do without them anyway), but it does show that you have to be careful when you quote examples of how "bad value" CC sites are!

These sites always look very good as special offers, if it is what you like. However, take 7 nights starting 23rd July. The Haven site at Porthmadog cost £408.80 for a service pitch with two adults, although it does not cost any more with two children. The
nearest CC type site, like for like, is the affiliated Riverside site at Betws-y-coed, where 7 nights for two adults is £213.50 plus £35 if you have two children. Brecon CC site, which is one of two CC sites in Wales with service pitches, would charge £224.70
plus £14 for the children. I leave everyone to make there own choice which they would pick in July.0
