Where to visit Part 1: Caen - Perpignan - Our Maiden Tour
Hi All, we are doing our first ever European Tour in the Spring, Caen to Perpignan then onwards to Seville via Barcelona. Any recommendations for where to visit and/or stay (in France) for the first part of our tour?
TIA.

You can also use such web sites and Apps of Search4Sites and ACSI to check opening times and read the reviews of sites you may wish to stop over at. Going in the Spring you may well find it is worth while buying the ACSI discount card.
It is a long time since I stayed in the Perpignan area, I generally prefer to go just across the boarder into Spain but when I have the last site I used was Camping Le Brasilia right on the beach. Just across the boarder there are plenty of sites in the Bay of Roses, I can recommend is Camping Las Dunas. Further down the coast near Estartit is Camping El Delfin Verde, a top class site with all facilities and again on the beach. I used to love this site but it has gone very up market and can be very busy at weekends and at peak times and is not cheap. In early season it may well be fine.
Enjoy your first trip.

Whatever floats your boat. Historic towns or countryside, gardens, chateaux, seaside, bike hire, canoe hire, big cities, village markets, lakes or mountains? I think a good guide book might help you. Enjoy your planning.

From Perpignan Canet-en-Roussillon and the coast a lovely place - plenty of free parking down by the harbour. Stayed last April for 2 weeks at Saint Nazaire near there at Les Flamingoes.
En route down from Dieppe we stayed at Briare the first night and ended up there for 4 nights. Lovely village/canals including the Pont Canal de Briare (canal over the Loire)
Route Dieppe-Rouen-Evreux-Chartres-Orleans-Briare away from toll roads used by lorries a lot.
Millau off the A75 worth a visit and up the river Tarn valley (most people will speed past and miss this lovely area). Plenty of sites in Millau and surrounding areas. We stayed at camping Saint Martin at 15 euros a night ASCI No 1833.
Have a great time
