The blackbirds are having a great time in our garden eating the windfall apples we have left on the ground. It’s not unusual to have 6 all eating in relative harmony, rather than squabbling over territory as is the norm. Also a few thrushes on occasions. They get through an apple in next to no time, just leaving some skin and the core. Fortunately there are plenty more for them to go at.

Blackbirds do like apples you are lucky to have windfall apples as we have no fruit trees here but still a lot of Blackbirds and Thrushes as they have had all the berries off some of our shrubs.
Whilst going to see friends the other day perched on the cables was a male Stonechat which was a surprise as they have usually gone south by now perhaps with a very mild November they have stayed on longer also still got Redstarts in our garden.

We still have Stonechat at Burton Mere RK.
We saw a Little Stint resting on some rocks at high tide today with other waders when we were having a walk along the front at Moreton in North Wirral.
About 300 Pink Feet Geese flew over the van on their way to roost on Southport Sands as dusk was dropping.

Had a walk from the site at Southport up the coast path to the RSPB reserve at Marshside. The path overlooks the Marsh and exposed sands so it kept us entertained, mostly with grazing Pink Footed Geese. On reaching the ponds there were loads of ducks, Geese, Lapwing and Godwits.
A Peregrine flew over and scattered the lot including a zig-zig-zagging Snipe. Plenty of Pintail duck around. A long walk there and back but worth it.

I had a late afternoon walk along by the canal which runs close to the site. Not a lot to see on the outward leg, apart from lots of Mallard Ducks, however on the walk back there were a Tiding, or Conventicle, of 11 Magpies which seemed to follow me along the path for a short while, and then a Kingfisher flew past, so well worth going down there.

Lit's .....Lots of different wildlife around the C&CC 's Winchcombe site, with the usual Mallards and Moorhens seeking food around the units, a couple of Cormorants fishing in the pool, flocks of Redwings and Fieldfairs over the adjoining fields, Red Kites and Buzzards overhead with a Kestral watching what was going on from a tree by the site entrance. However the highlights were a Kingfisher flying across in front of our caravan, a Stoat exploring the vegetation along the pool edge, and the near constant visits from a cheeky Robin who when we first arrived tried to access the van by way of an open side locker, and has left its mark on numerous places!😁

I forgot to mention that there are also Green Woodpeckers present around the site, and today, with an improvement in the weather, lots of tits and other small birds too.

I was very surprised to see both primroses and especially snowdrops fully out already. Just goes to show how mild it has been this month, I guess.

I know what you mean @nelliethehooker as we have some Primroses stupidly popping their heads out.
Outside in the back garden I've just seen a bit of a barney going on between a Buzzard and a Raven. The Buzzard was the one that backed off.

Clever birds Ravens and large enough to have a go at a Buzzard.
Had a short walk where we are but the ground and paths very wet and mucky but did see a Green Woodpecker and then it perched on a trunk of a tree and started to drum quite a few times think it is a bit early but it is mild outside today and also saw a Common Knapweed out in flower a bit late for this year I think as not many butterflies about.

We were at Croome Park today and one of the volunteers pointed us in the direction of this new resident, a Great White Egret.
Adjacent to the car park was this "new" Mistletoe Tree!
They also have a special guide pointing the way for visitors to the entrance.

There were at least a thousand Pink Footed Geese feeding on one of the fields close to the site yesterday evening and then this morning lots of skeins of geese heading northwards towards the coast. There were shots being fired close by, just hope it wasn't the geese that were the targets.

@Wherenext it just seem strange that they were coming from the same direction as the field that the geese were on. I could not go and check as the road in that direction was flooded too deep to make my way through. Perhaps it was crows?
Lots more skeins of geese low overhead this morning. We saw our first Daffodil fully in flower, as well as primroses and primula too.
I too was wondering where Micky was hiding!

These photos were from my afternoon walk today.

We had lunch, a sandwich, whilst sitting on rocks by Hoylake RNLI yesterday. The tide on the bay was just turning so we had plenty of not too far away views of waders, some of which were forced up en masses by a passing Peregrine giving us a wonderful aerial display of hundreds of twirling Knots.
Plenty of Redshank and Dunlin but we also found 2 Greenshank and a !little Stint.

Just had a look at the stars as we have a clear night here and I can see Saturn slightly South east, as I look at it but in the western sky, from Venus and in the Eastern sky I can see Jupiter shining quite brightly. These next few weeks is special as there is going to be a chance with an excellent telescope to view all the Planets at the same time around the 20th.February.
