Free night for members

I was using sites to mean one or more and I thought that was implied.
But if you want me to be pedantic then I'll rephrase. I think it's perhaps aimed at members who have at least used one site, if not why have certain members not received the offer?
If you look at the wording of the offer in the OP, thank you for supporting UK club site networks... this to me shows that this is a reward for using one or more club sites this year.
Why should those that do not use club sites (one or more) be rewarded? Why should those who have paid for club sites (one or more) in effect subsidise those that do not? This free night has to come from somewhere?
Some state they join the club for CLs only, again why should they get a reward? I don't use CLs so to your logic should I get a free night voucher?
Their choice not to use club sites so they should not expect to be rewarded for that choice?
The last free night was to get people to use club sites, which it did, this one is a reward for using them (one or more).

I didn't use the previous offer but have received this one. Not sure if I will be able to use it due to various circumstances but I will try and get away for a few days before November (when I usually sorn the van). I appreciate the offers, even if I am unable to use them but in view of the spiralling costs on many sites, surely the Club should be giving something back to Members.

I was in your neck of the woods (Brewood) a couple of weeks ago as for the first time of cruising down the Shroppie on a number of occasions, managed to obtain a mooring. Unfortunately, it was raining and very muddy on the towpath. I walked into the village but obviously didn't see it at its best.

I’m not sure what criteria the Club uses for sending out emails, but I am guessing that this one should have gone to the whole Membership, and I doubt they would discriminate by only targeting certain Members.
It is interesting that I have got the offer though. But now not a Member. It does state that you have to be a Member to participate.
I think it’s possible that the emails might be sent out in in random groupings. But I also think it’s possible some Members might be getting things into their Spam mailbox because of settings.

This is the wording on the one I have received. Has someone got a different version?
We hope you’ve enjoyed the touring season with us so far this year, especially as the sun came out this summer.
As a thank you for supporting the UK Club campsite network we are delighted to offer you a FREE night on us to enable you to get away again this year! Either bathe in the last of the sun or plan a cosy autumn / winter break - the choice is up to you.
With the majority of our network still open in October and around 50 UK Club campsites open all year round, there are plenty of locations to choose from.
Just ensure you make a NEW UK Club campsite booking anytime from 24 September to midnight on the 13 October 2024 for arrivals between 1 October and 19 December 2024 (including half term).
We did use the last free night, we have had a couple of nights on a Club Site in June.

Well CS I know at least two people who have received vouchers and they have not used any Club sites at all in 2024. I have used 7 sites in 2024 and have had no voucher, so rewarding those who used Club sites has nothing to do with it.

It was simply a discussion point and a reply to Val.
Seven club sites PD -wow!
I would have thought that with your seven clubs sites (you must really like club sites more I thought considering all the posts you make about the prices) then certainly you should have got one, I wonder then why you, and others, haven't got one?
There must still be a reason - any ideas?
I'd be pretty annoyed in your shoes.

I think if anyone has yet to receive the email, it might be best to contact Club HQ and sort things out, as you have to have a booking in place by midnight 13th October, which is only 11 days from today. That’s those who are interested in the offer of course.

I agree TDA, it's started on the 24th last week and ends on the 13th.

Yes, that booking period is shortening.

Well, we finally got our offer last night. Another different e mail, ours noted that we had not used any Club sites this year.
Not long left now to think about whether we want to use it as we had not planned to go away again after this trip.
Will need to see if there will be any reasonably nearby sites open later in the year. Would need at least 3 nights away to make it worth getting the van out again.

Kjell, I can't see it being worth taking the caravan out just to save one night's fees if you had no previous intention of using the van again this year. It is worth us visiting a club site for a couple of nights, as it fits in with our touring plan, and makes it cheaper than using a CL with similar facilities. It will also be used on a new site for us, an added bonus, as we try to visit at least one new site each trip.

Nellie…..you are right.
We had the idea of booking a long weekend, or 3 nights, to take DD and the boys somewhere interesting, but that is not going to work as they will be away for a few days in the school break as it is, so not enough school holidays left.
Weather is also a risk, not much for them to do if it is wet, so our free night will not be used.

We're another one unlikely to use the offer. Days are getting shorter, too much farm work and other plans. We were hopeful of getting away again, but I can't see it happening. We're not bothered - we're not losing anything. And there's lots of nights out planned to local gigs, then back to sleep in our own bed.

Strange isn't it how circumstances can changer your perspective of an autumn or winter break?
As we can only get away for 2 nights at a time we don't want to miss any opportunity to do so regardless of weather. The main problem being whether it fits in with our care time at home but as we'll only lose the deposit it will be worth booking ahead this once to try to take advantage of the freebie.
We intend to use our free night, probably at Southport site to catch up with overwintering birds that like to use the marshland around there, maybe combine it with a high tide. A walk into town and a nice Italian meal will be a bonus. Amazing how just a couple of nights reinvigorates you.

We would be away as well, we have always toured year round. I think it’s possibly easier with a MH/Camper though, particularly if it’s kept at home. Ours is only getting days out at the moment, but it keeps it turning over, in use.
I am sure the Club’s number crunchers will be analysing take up. A lot of the Marketing is more targeted nowadays.

Fingers crossed that it does bring in the additional income they crave, because we continue to tour all year round and would use the offer again should it arise.

Thought about this offer as we had booked in advance our next two breaks at York Rowntree site at about £55 a night, so thought worth enquiring if I could use it, yes I know it said you could not but I felt slightly aggrieved as we have spent over £3400 this year on club sites.
I rang bookings absolutely no look adamant cannot use it, rang general number better response he put me through to bookings who then suggested they could cancel my first day and the rebook it thus allowing me to be able to use the offer. This is what happened and happier now.Thats £55 can go towards our now non existent fuel allowance

Where did the fuel allowance come from?

It’s a political comment but omits the word ‘winter’.

I think that if one is worried or happy that a saving of £55 with a free night going towards a non existing fuel allowance is a tad incongruous spending with £3400 on club sites?
I'm just adding mine to an existing booking - by just booking the day before.

I’m simply gobsmacked at the idea of spending £3400 a year at Club sites.

We all have different lifestyles and that amount of money for holidays is not outrageous. Clarinetman obvious one of the Club's better customers and probably deserves a free night

It's up C-M to decide what to spend his money on without judgement. And it's obviously it's a good number of nights - perhaps 100? On sites that he enjoys using a caravan he enjoys using.
And as said it's not that bad, I've spent (without boasting) far more than that this year on a two foreign holidays totalling 21 days.

NO longer go abroad with or without caravan done all the foreign trips Europe, USA ( son lives in Chicago), multiple cruises but at 75 just enjoy our remaining time we have in our caravan with our dog and although I have been critical of the club prices in the past we like them you pays your money and make your choice, oh I have never smoked and drink in moderation and never been critical of anyone who enjoys something I don’t.
Off to York Rowntree tomorrow, can’t wait.
