Is this a Scam?

I've just received an email purporting to be from the DVLA telling me there is a message for me. To read it I must 'log in' by giving my driving licence number. It just doesn't look right. Has anyone else received this? Is it genuine? Please beware if it is a scam as I suspect.

Googling it there are a lot of DVLA scams about. If you logged on you would probably find you were due a refund and of course to obtain it you would have to give a lot of personal details. As TW says just delete it.

One way of telling is to click on the reply button (but don't send) and you should be able to see the return email address. Almost certainly it won't be a proper DVLA address. I agree with others its most likely to be  a scam despite the official looking email.

If you hover your mouse over the sender, it should show you the senders e-mail address, I find this is a good indicator of whether its a scam or not, but then I have a very suspicious mind.

I was always told that if Ihaven't asked for it then delete it and just send an email direct to the person or business . It's awful that we have to be so suspicious now but that's life as they say.

I don't know if it's peculiar to Apple Mail on a Mac, but next to the sender's name is a drop down arrow. Clicking on that reveals the sender's full email address. I ALWAYS do it with emails I don't recognise or am suspicious of. It invariably shows an email address which is gobbledygook and ends with a domain outside of the UK. Straight in the bin!
