Server Errors again
Comments

I use android system. I got server errors from about 5pm last evening on the latest activity page. Tried on and off succeeded about 8pm.
Sadly few posts to read - a sign others can't access CT either??
I wonder how much of this effects bookings? Not that we'll ever know. I reported tge thread about booking site showing full, but work around shows spaces. Heard nothing. You don't even get an acknowledgement!

B2 you didn't really expect a response did you?! This is supposed to be a leading UK company in its specific sector, but they certainly don't respect their membership (customers), in particular at weekends, when most of their membership are at home and possibly looking to book our sites.

I actually reported the thread before 9am Friday.
No I didn't expect a response, we know that doesn't happen! Certainly there won't be one over the weekend. Working is strictly 9-5 M-F for HQ. But IT only seem to work 10pm-8am. Site personnel 24/7. 😉

Back to the "service error" message again when trying to access Latest Activity this evening. It is now happening nearly every other day.

Well thats server errors back on latest activity page yesterday and today when I try at lunchtime.
Also got caught out AGAIN for essential maintenance Wednesday evening. I don't know of any other site that closes down weekly (this site several times a week!) Certainly with no warning 🤐🤐🤐

Indeed but all the numerous improvements have to be done sometime

Funny how so many other organisations are able to do their corrections without the number of close downs, and associated disruptions, that this web site has. Where are the promised notifications of when they were going to do their "Essential Maintenance" ?

Sorry did you think I was being serious there?
I agree fully but I don't know why you've replied to me with that though, I've never defended the server errors or how the club runs CT and have been critical of it in the past and still am
But then we all keep posting for some reason, I've asked myself that question many times.

CT with it's server errors is obviously not high on the club's to do list, if it's actually on the list at all.
But then if we all keep posting and putting up with this why should it be?
It's been said that members pay for it through our subscriptions but I think that's used for bookings and contact, reviews... and Ct is an cheap add on, if CT were to go then would it affect any other aspect of the club's income or other business?
It's only used regularly by a very small number of those using the club with either club sites, CLs and other club services, it's very useful and excellent when people have a technical problem or advice about the sites, CLs, pitches...or whatever.

Firstly, how can anyone know this, again just to be accurate BB I did not state it as a fact or that I knew but as rather what I thought as I posted but I think...
(when the system is up)
I'm not sure where that is coming from? CT and the server errors do happen at random times throughout any day but the rest is the system as you call it is up isn't it?
The server errors on CT, as opposed to the other parts of the website, only affects those going in through latest activity (or at least from my experience - I assumed that was the case and I stand to be corrected) and so only affects a very small number of the total membership who use it.
Apart from a weekend a few weeks ago when the whole site was down, the bookings and other parts appear unaffected? Again my experience again?
The whole site does go down at random on late evenings when booking can't be made obviously but will that affect many who wish or like to book between usually 10pm and, well I don't know when it's back on but it's usually working at 7am?
But yes fully I agree we are being kept in the dark and yes it would be good to be told in advance as it had stated, and yes a full honest answer would be good about going forward.
But (and I can't know) I don't expect that to happen, which is a great shame, disrespectful of a loyal CT 'fan' base (for want of a better phrase and we do keep posting so we must like something about CT) and not the way we should, as either users of CT and/or paying members, be.treated. These errors should not still be happening. It is like we don't matter. Which could be the why actually?
But I think CT is just not on the to-do list for the club, or way down the list, and as I said if it were to disappear I don't think business would suffer?

And again tonight, although it was fine earlier on!!

I don't know why the club just doesn't issue a very simple blanket notice saying that essential maintenance may take place any night from 10pm till 7am.
After all that's the way I've come to expect it and I suspect a few others as well and rarely even bother checking after about 9.30.
As for server errors it appear just a way of life now, and in fact I almost expect them to be there

I also wonder why Ro has left her sticky thread in place. It hasn’t been used for months as nobody ever gives notice of down time.🤷🏻♂️

I guess it's still there just in case those at IT deem to tell Ro when there may will be down time. It's typical of the lack of communication not only between HO and we members but also between their own departments.

Service error message again when trying to log into Latest Activity!! Will they ever get round to sorting it out I wonder?🤔

I had the same this evening earlier on. Just come back up to the computer and still there but decided to log out and log in again which on my PC seems to have cleared it. Not sure if that would work on other devices?

Have been getting them intermittently forever.....
Just got it again now on the latest activity page. If I reported each time ......
I've learnt to keep threads open that I'm interested in. This one is never closed 😉
Maybe they don't know how to fix it?
As an aside I notice many posts begin in the story section and are moved by mods with an note about not posting discussions in the stories. That's gone on for years too. Tells you lots about ease of use and the site being intuitive.......

If contributors take a few moments to read the posting guidance it is perfectly clear what should be posted in either the Story Section or Discussions. Anyone posting, as a new poster, in discussions have to have their initial posts agreed by Admin, the same does not apply to Reviews or Stories so whether people post in the Story Section as work round I don't know. I would like the same principal to be applied, at least to the Story Section. It would also be nice to inform people that their posts have been moved so they know where to add any further comment to replies to their original post. You do have to allow for the fact that some want to get something off their chest and are not interested in further discussion so they are probably not bothered where they post?

David, just maybe those that post initially in the story section with what actually are questions, (not knowing better! sic), would continue posting if they were informed where their "stories" had been moved to. I realise that you, as a mod, cannot let them know, but surely there should be some mechanism to tell them. Then perhaps we might just get a few more regular posters on CT.

I agree it would be a good service to let posters know that their posts have been moved. Be it from stories or from one discussion section to another. UKCampsites seem to have an automatic system whereby if one of your posts have been moved to another section your get an email telling you that. I am sure a system could be put in place where a mod flags up a message without seeing the contact details. Unfortunately no concrete evidence as yet that the Club are willing to upgrade Club Together to have more modern features? I think we are coming up for 10/12 years (?) on the current software. Perhaps I should have made a request to Father Christmas

David, you will probably have more chance of success asking that his good self intervenes than you get from HO!!!😂

More of the same. First time I've had them when refreshing already open in tabs threads! Previously restricted to the latest activity page. Good to know there's variety now 🫣.
I notice folk on the what you doing thread saying they've had problems yesterday and today. Page 5865.
Maybe someone could report me post? I expect Rowena could pass on to the appropriate team AGAIN. Actually I'd like to hear/read the appropriate team's response to just this issue alone! Whoops nodded off...

I've reported your post, B2. Back to sleep now 😴

Thank you for your post. We have been investigating the errors this morning and it seems it was an error with our external service. Please let me know if you continue to have issues.

Ro, Sorry but that sounds just like the usual excuses that are put forward by those who have no idea of what is actually happening! Too ready to blame someone else when things like this have been going on ad infinitum, instead of getting things sorted.
EDIT The irony of this post is that I wrote it last night but could not post it because of Essential Maintenance, of which again there wasn't any notification, as once was promised!!
