Some of us have been saying the same for a good while longer than two years, Freddy.

Something very strange is going on!! I can access the discussion on CT by updating a previous/historic version of it but I cannot get CT to load when trying to access it, or even when double clicking to get the Latest Activity to see todays Reviews, from the home page. All I keep getting is the error message!!😵😵

It appears to be getting worse by the day, and we still get no word from HO about the reasons for it! Damn poor show, I say, what!!😊

Well, that was novel. There was a S/E on Latest Activity, then it closed for maintenance for 30 minutes-ish then back it came with the S/E still on L/A. You couldn’t make it up🤣🤣🤣

Ditto on my iPhone. The home page has more shuffled last posts showing as well.
Thank goodness CAMC doesn’t provide internet banking services 😂😂

It’s all over the place today. My post on the What are you doing keeps showing for me as last one made, but I know there’s been another🤷♀️

I have yet again reported it to Rowena but in the scheme of things I suspect there is not much she can personally do about it other than pass the information on. We then get into the situation of where our forum problems come on scale of importance compared to the main website?

It is obviously the plan of those at HO to stop old and new members from accessing CT other than through already open tabs, so that they can turn round and say that no-one is posting so they, in their own minds, have a legitimate reason for closing it completely!

David, wasn't it put forward by those in charge at HO that CT was a showcase for the forward thinking CC and one way to enrol new members? This is blatantly obvious not the case now that they have tied themselves to Facebook.

I suspect that thought has long passed! Maybe when Club Together was first introduced? Even if we were all surprised by a new, fully featured forum, would that encourage a mass influx of members to use it. Regretfully I fear not as most traditional forums seem to be dying on their feet. UKCampsites has had half a page of posts for the last two days. The forum set up by Bugs seemed to go days and weeks without meaningful new posts and Caravan and Motorhome Talk seems to spend more time talking about non caravan/motorhome topics. Other forums seem to have closed down. Please point me in the direction of a meaningful forum dedicated to our hobby. You mention Facebook but that does seem to be where all the action is these days. I could be wrong but I suspect those that post on Facebook wouldn't come near a traditional forum? It is a sad state of affairs but some might say that is progress?

Error message just gone after 36 hours on my MacBook. Totally unacceptable.

The whole site was down with essential maintenance for almost 24 hours......
Will it be fixed now?
Edit no server error on latest activity page.

Nelliethehooker, next post here, I totally agree.

Again no mention of Essential Maintenance coming up, although notice of it occurring had been promised. For a break of full-length of time those in charge of IT at HO must have known well in advance when and for how long they intend to shut down the site. I feel sorry for those members who use part of their weekend to research and book sites. It is not as though they could use the club's app as it was down too.

I wonder if we will get some sort of explanation as to why the website needed to be closed for so long? Was this planned and if so why were we not informed or did something go wrong which required a long shut down to put right? We may never know. I assume the shutdown also impacted on the site network?

So after nearly 24 Hrs of site maintenance we still get server errors

I don't have a problem with social areas, you don't have to read them but they should not dominate the front pages of a forum. There are folk who do nothing else but post there and have contributed nothing else. It would lbe better if alerts of new post on these pages were removed from the Club Together front page. As far as I am concerned it clutters up the latest activity pages of the site.

I'm lost here, how do they dominate the front pages of the forum? Do you mean latest activity?
If you do mean that well they only dominate or rather be the the top if you select LA so if you don't want that don't look at LA.
And of course they are not always at the top as LA just reflects what is the latest activity at that particular moment.
Are you suggesting that social area posts not be included in LA?
As for contributions, personally every post made is a valuable contribution and to be given equal respect.

It would be OK if latest activity was stable, but very often you page down and reach the end of the list, or get a repeat of what you have just looked at. I tend to agree with Peedee. Certainly in its current state it would be much more usable if it didn’t show the social room posts and more importantly didn’t show likes. In an ideal world it would contain filters and you would be able to structure it to your requirements. Unfortunately on CT that is very unlikely to happen.

Well, I missed CT this last couple of days.
Sorry if it may sound a bit sad to some folks, but I enjoy online chatting to a few users down in the social area, and enjoy sharing nice places to visit, interesting and unusual things to see, and it’s a good quick catch up with online friends, away from longer emails where a proper catch up can be done, but needs more time devoted to it. Some of us share hobbies and interests as well, so if someone doesn’t share, don’t feel obliged to take part. No one is forced to read any thread, all they have to do is pass over if it’s of no interest, and move onto something else they have more interest in. Could be technical help, could be sharing nice places to stay. Could be commenting on what’s going off with the Club. All have their users and followers. 🙂

Surely if Latest Activity doesn’t suit one's needs, the simplest way is to access the threads from the 'normal' front page? I see LA as an add on, not as the main means of reading the forum.
Anyway, no server errors on LA so far today 🤞

Agree about the stability, it's very annoying only to be able to see a few posts sometimes and not showing likes as well, but for me all posts are 'created equal' and while I may have no interest in certain posts/threads/areas they are posted by, and of interest to, someone who may want to follow that particular thread. That is their contribution to CT.
If LA is mainly about the social areas then isn't that what the majority of CT users are doing on CT and are using CT for? If that is the case when why try and stop LA for what the majority of its users are using it for? Again I said if.
I'm not bothered if this happened but it just gives the idea that certain threads/posters are much more important, or should be given more prominence (as in technical Van issues) than other threads and some should not cause clutter (as PD suggests) than others. What is clutter to one person may not be to another.
As I said if someone takes the time and effort to post something that's all that count.

Agree. You cannot cherry pick your interests via Latest Activity, only via the individual threads or topics. I skip over items like Trailer tents, rallies every day in the main, purely because they have limited appeal for me, but I happily accept that they might be of a lot of interest to others. 🤷♀️
