I compared prices in another thread Corners🙂. Even with the lowering of Club Site prices, I can still stay around Hope/Castleton area, on what some would now call a commercial site. Without the pooch it would be £8 per night cheaper, £6 with him, but it has two decent dog walks, footpath adjacent and a good on site shop, which Castleton Club Site doesn’t have. The dog walk at Castleton is very poor, and the roads outside to get elsewhere are busy with narrow footpaths. Half mile walk into Castleton from Club Site, half mile walk into Hope from Laneside.

Apologies, I should have put the Mam Tor road, rather than closed road. It’s used nowadays for parking up. We ambled past Club Site around 7pm, so a lot of MH’s still out if your theory is correct. Castleton is a bit like York RP, it’s a site where a lot of MH users park up and walk into town, or do the famous walks in area. It will be full at weekend I am sure👍

TDA I've not heard the expression "membership like treatment" before. Could you put some meaning around that so that we know the treatment you expect and feel you are not getting from the club.

Sorry, that would be off topic.🙂 But feel free to start your own thread elsewhere, I’m sure that you might catch a few happy to engage and politely discuss.

It's the same in the Lake District. There are regular updates about the number of M/Hs parking up overnight in the N/T car parks and along the roadside in the Derwent/ Keswick area, and comments on the mess that they leave behind. It's not as if there is a shortage of official campsites in the area.

The tour we've just finished had us on sites (CAMC, C&CC, CL, CS) but all were very close to towns so we didn't use the van but walking and the bikes to get about.

Some folk can't walk as far as others nor perhaps do they have a bike so (unless they're into busses) it's likely that folk might take their van out for the day just as a caravanner would take their car.

with myriad restrictions on MH parking, these vans are likely to congregate in the few areas where parking is allowed, hence often seeing a group of vans together.

one place we visited was Aldeburgh and the northern part of the town had a large car park where MH were allowed.

provided that no rules are broken and fees paid it shouldnt be an issue if this is where the local authority has directed them.

of course, MH are far more suited to just moving on when the visit is complete, to the next stop rather than back to the site or stopping place.

with perhaps more, but shorter, stops MH don't really need much 'fettling' (large water tanks, batteries charged when travelling, cheap gas etc) and folk may well be just looking for an 'overnighter'...however with fees at the level they are folk might not want to pay club or commercial prices when other options are available...pub stops etc.

I agree vans shouldn't be overnighting in NT car parks without express permission but other roads with no restrictions are fine.

Thank you everyone for any constructive feedback and thoughts shared. As we have had a number of reports the discussion is going off topic, and we hope all Club Together members are now aware of the price drop, I will close this discussion.
