Thanks RK hope you have a good trip to, should be a little cooler here by then.

MillieH, if it were me I would definitely go down the route of MP and the papers but I'm afraid my friends are more for writing letters back to the council to follow the appeal process. I have suggested they contact their GP, glad to say they agreed to that.

DK, thank you for that link I will read through it yo see if there is anything that I can pass onto them.

WN, words fail me and that doesn't happen often 😅 good to hear your walking is coming along nicely. Hope the roads not to muddy tomorrow for you.

Yes it was. A nice pint of Broadside, perfect temperature. Have walked out of a couple of places as they only had Southwold Bitter or Ghost Ship, neither of which are on my OK list.

    Good luck with car MOT.

Good  luck also to RK and TG when they sally forth.

Really hot here today, right now not a cloud in sight.   Have been outside trying to finish off cutting up, shredding, and clearing up after cutting down a tree beside the driveway, got so hot I had to take a shower before eating lunch and  having a long rest.  Better get the job finished soon as garden bin day tomorrow, and I will have 3 full ones plus a pile over.

We have repossessed our garden vac, which DD had borrowed, to help with the  clearing up. up.  They have had it for quite a while, so Callum reckoned it was now theirs, and was most indignant when I put it in the car yesterday.

OH has been washing and drying using the solar power, and we have exported a lot today, which is good as we are now getting paid 15p per kWh for it, having moved to metered export.

OH had me stash  away the fan in the sitting room, I think she will be wanting it back out soon if this weather continues.

We had a very pleasant lunch and afternoon at our son's house yesterday, Callum and Nathan had a great time playing with their cousin Eilidh (age 13), I think she ended up more exhausted than them!   We dropped DD and the children off at Granny's house on our way home,as they were going there for dinner, and were promptly invited to stay too.   Apparently Granny had "over catered" so was glad of a couple of extra guests, and very delicious it all was too.

Very warm down here in East Anglia as well Kj.

OH had first lot of washing dried before we left CL and other 2 lots dried an hour after setting up on an Independent site in the Broads. Had a short walk in afternoon to stretch the legs and a second shower of the day.  Site virtually full. Adult only, fully serviced.

If weather continues to be hot we'll stick to shortish walks.

Hope everyone else enjoying some sun on their backs.

Had an enjoyable day today as we visited Horsey Pump.

Following a visit to the old windmill we had a pleasant walk skirting the Mere and having to pass the Lord Nelson on the way back. Well, it would have been rude not to wouldn't it?

The sun was in the wrong position to get a good photo of the pump. Anyone in the area on Saturday 9th.September should note it's open as a Heritage day facility.

Lovely day. A nice Easterly breeze kept us from overheating.

Very warm again yesterday, and today is probably going to be similar.

We had the other original 35 year old gas boiler in the house replaced yesterday, still a bit of finishing off to complete, so they will be back here any minute.  It all went well, the new boiler is very compact so they were able to use the same flue position, and there is enough room in the small cupboard below for the new magnetic filter and the condensate pump, as well as the 2 circulating pumps.
The pipework is a little different so I will need to alter the small worktop there, or make a new one, then replace the panel covering the pipes.   While the system was drained down I took the chance to replace the 3 remaining original thermostatic valves as they were starting to stick.

There is no nearby drain for the condensate to go into, so it has to be pumped up into the loft and along to the neatest soil stack, we did not want it routed outside in case it might freeze up in winter.

OH rang the VW dealer to ask if there was any news on our new (small) car, but the only good news was that they had not been advised of any delays.   Sounds like we will not get it until the beginning of November, so will need to organise a service and MOT for the Smart.

Lovely part of the world WN. We always try to visit there when in Norfolk. We like the Wildlife Boat Trips run from the jetty there. The guy who runs them is so knowledgeable.

Very hot here but I was nice and cool in the Cathedral yesterday morning. The Star Wars exhibition has now finished - hooray - so normal service has resumed and I was able to tell visitors about the Cathedral and let them know that it was access all areas again. It is still quite misty and fairly cool here this morning so I am off to do some ironing before it gets too hot again.

Steady start to our latest trip. Pleasant, very quiet CS, not far from the A1 near Wetherby. A very hot day but has clouded up this evening and cooled down somewhat so hopefully we will have a comfortable sleep tonight.

I am back home🙂 OH still away, with the hound, although not far away. Fantastic couple of days, Red hot and sunny, but plenty of shade if required at Clumber. Managed three decent bike rides on my new bike, all without mishap. Too much gravel in the odd place for me at times, but I stayed on board….just. Lots of folks on cycles of all different kinds around the site (all adult as well😁) Enjoyed seeing cyclists on TofB go through, quite close to start this time, so they were gone in a flash, but always good fun, and lots of folks lining the route and chasing across the route loops to see them go. Clumber Site was lovely, lots of wildlife around, and it wasn’t too busy. Very quiet and peaceful most of the time. The Walled Garden was looking colourful, lots of veg as well.

Lovely to read that some of you are able to get away.  I'm quite jealous.....!

Our tow car is likely to be out of action until the end of the month.  Since breaking down and having to be recovered from the Outer Hebrides, the local garage we use is backed up with jobs.  In addition to the repair, the car is also due a service and MOT.  So when the weather was poor, we were away on holiday.  Now the weather has picked up, we can't go anywhere, and we've had to cancel our visit to Penrhos CAMC site because of the car breakdown.  Fortunately, we got the deposit back because of the circumstances, in the form of an e-voucher, to use when we can next get out in the caravan.... when we get the car back....

Oh well.... at least it gives me chance to catch up on one or two jobs.  It does also feel a bit odd to be sorting out music for Christmas in the middle of all this summer weather.  First practices for Christmas concerts, start tonight and tomorrow.  🤣🤣

    A very hot day today.

We only ventured out this morning. To Martham for a stroll next to the Mere. We then went to West Somerton Church which was a lovely place with a circular bell tower.

We called in at a local farm shop and cafe and found a new form of camping, Silo Glamping.smile

Glad you had a good couple of days Ttda.

DSB, Rehearsals for Christmas music, I saw Tescos had some Christmas stock ...Doesn't the year fly by!

MH/WN I remember visiting Horsey Pump a few years back loved the wildlife

My car was due a service which went smoothly however they found that a sensor needed replacing which has now been done.

I have been away over the summer once to the site at Garlieston and several visits to Killin as it is handy for the boat club. The Boat club hosted a sailability regatta so staying at Killin meant that I didn't have too far to travel. One of the sailors took a memory chip with photos of my son on it to sail in his memory. Nice thought!

Lovely to hear from you robsail. It sounds as though you have had a good summer. What a lovely thought of the sailor who took a memory stick of photos of your son in his memory.

Yes some of the garden centres already have their Christmas stock in. It will Christmas music next!

Good to read that you and OH have had a good time at Clumber,  tda. Your bike looks grand and pleased to hear that you managed to stay aboard during your rides.

Don't think OH would want to stop in one of those silos, WN.

It started off a little hazy this with no wind and I spotted a couple of hot air balloons making the most of the conditions on our before breakfast walk. We had walk along by the R.Wharfe at Tadcaster this morning, but by then the sun was fully out and it was rather warm! Had lunch by the river before a quick visit into the St Mary's  Church to view the Morris/Buryne-Jones window. Yesterday afternoon I popped into Wighill church, with it's Robert Staypleton effergy and Norman doorway. Then this evening visited village pub, The Swan, 5 mins from the site, for  pint of T T's Landlord!

The saga of my friends husbands blue badge has been sorted, he went in to see the OT who had done his assessment. Unfortunately she was with someone but her admin asked if she could help. He told her what had happened so she looked up his file, to say she was annoyed is putting it mildly.

The outcome was that she phoned the council office concerned and had strong words. This morning he got a letter saying his badge has been approved and could he pay for it. Not a word of apology or explanation. I guess they will never know why a clerk decided to overturn the OTs report but our friend is now relieved that her husband can once again get out and about.

Christmas decorations in Home bargins and various other shops, I thought its was bad enough seeing Halloween stuff. Glad we are heading off soon to escape all the hype.

Good to hear WN and the Nellie's are enjoying the good weather, even if it is a little hot at times.

We have been basking in lovely sunshine here but not at the temps of down south, thankfully we rarely get it to hot. The house remains cool even on the hottest of days so always pleasant and sleeping isn't uncomfortable.

More jobs been getting done, we are doing well most things now finished, just the grass to give a final cut.

Crochet coming on still learning new stitches and patterns. Must borrow OHs phone to post some photos.

Yes...  it somehow didn't feel right practising Christmas music on such a warm evening..... but we have a lot of stuff to learn!!   Spend today doing audio files to help folk learn their parts.... and I've started to write the music and words for a Christmas Carol....  I get talked into doing this some years, and dropped my guard at a meeting last night!  😀😀

Glad your car service went smoothly, Robsail.  They thought it was a sensor that was playing up on my car on the way to the Outer Hebrides.  Replaced when we got there but it proved to be something else.  Green Flag had to recover us home and car is still in the garage - possibly a cracked (plastic) manifold.  An absolute pain, but thank goodness for Green Flag/ Mayday.... and thankfully we weren't towing.

TG. Re the blue badge all it takes for some of these forms is some unintended miscommunication. For example at one time the Day centre that my son went to had the term workshop in its title, put that on a form and request was turned down, as if he was in a workshop he could work, despite having myotonic dystrophy which is both physical and learning difficulty.

DSB What's this writing Christmas carols are you trying to do Andrew Llyod Webber out of a job?

😀😀😀 Robsail:  Every so often I get talked into writing a Christmas Carol...  the last one I did was before Covid and a group  of us sung it vitually (not everyone felt comfortable doing itcon their own..... I produced an audio file.  People leared their own part and sang along to the recording.  Folk listened and sang while using headphones and recorded themselves on their phones.  As they were using headphones you just heard the individual voice.  Tbey sent me the video and I mixed all the voices together to make it soundclike a choir and put it all together as a video.....  I'll see if I can find it on youtube.

Another glorious day here today that’s been most of the week we’ve had marvellous weather. Currently sitting out the back garden on the deck got dinner sizzling away in the Cadac cold beer in hand not too shabby. Not been away in the van for a few weeks but hoping to get away later on next week to one of our local haunts. Going to a classic car show on Sunday with my classic Mercedes hoping the weather  stays nice for that may even got the roof down.

Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

Ever had one of those days that take you a bit by surprise? Well today was one of them.

We thought we'd have a quiet look at a nearby Broads Authority Nature Reserve called How Hill, near Ludham. Arrived via back lanes that make Devon back roads look positively wide. Not many cars there.

We walked down to the "centre", Toad Hall Cottage and paid a pittance for a stroll around a trail. Before then we were told that the Tea Room was now closed but there was a small marquee set up for a Heritage Day by the Wherrry Preservation Society (title might not be correct). Didn't realise they were having a Heritage Day today but happy as we got to see and go on board the Wherry shown in the photo, previously at one time owned by the Colman of Norwich mustard fame.

The volunteer in the photo was great (he didn't realise it was open day either!laughing). We did take some photos of the interior but they're stuck in the ether somewhere.

The walk around the little reserve was wonderful, a lot of it in shade. Lizards, Dragonflies, Deer, Grass Snake and Frogs popping up every so often.

Really enjoyed the 3 hours or so spent there. Rest of day went downhill with a Tesco visit but needs must.

We love How Hill WN. Isn't the wherry wonderful. We had a tour round it some while ago. We also went on the little electric boat that takes you into the very narrow part of the broads with an excellent wildlife guide. A friend of mine had a cycling holiday based in the house at How Hill many years ago. She was the designated 'back stop' and needed a whistle to blow to alert the leader if there was a problem. As she didn't have a whistle she borrowed my old Guide whistle. She said she had a wonderful holiday.
