Travel in Spain
Hi, this is my first post so please be gentle with me.
We are taking our caravan to Spain for the first time in September. We are getting the ferry to Bilbao and will travel to Camping Playa Brava on the east coast. According to the AA route planner, the total distance is 450 miles. Would travelling this far in one day be a step too far. If so, can anyone recommend an over night stop location. Many thanks Ian

well many on here more experience than I , but DD is right about the roads in Spain, 450 miles in a oner ? if you average 60 MPH that would be close to 8 hrs driving , Spanish roads can be very boring so i would suggest stopping somewhere maybe the municipal site at Zaragoza

32 hours on a ferry across the Bay of Biscay and then set off to drive 450miles? Or just drive for an hour to Haro, pull into the campsite, have lunch and go for a stroll in the town?

The Municipal in Zaragoza has mixed reviews but for an overnight it may be fine. Another option would be look at which sites are recommended by the Club and then maybe reserve through the club or direct. That way you can see the reviews. I would not be doing 450 miles towing in one go - a break would be advisable and then you could arrive in Playa Brava at a reasonable time the following day and be able to set up before you pull that cork or go to the bar for a cool beer. In any event have a wonderful time.

Hi all,
many thanks for the advice. I believe the Municipal in Zaragoza get the vote, especially since I managed to find it on the web.

Make it two nights if you can - there’s much to see in the town.

Our neighbour at Benicassim had driven from Santander in a day...it's not as daunting as you think on the roads as AD describes...
we stayed in Zaragosa on the way east on the new aire, and Haro when heading back to Bilbao, a fab town to visit....the Rioja (red and white) is delicious🍷
