Well Brue, it is well known that very often (though not always), it is dog owner/s who are at fault, not the actual dogs themselves.

You make a very valid point Peedee.  I lived in Germany for 12 months 80-81 and the work ethic, compared to back here in the UK was far better, even people such as refuge collectors took a pride in their job and didn't leave rubbish all over, if it had blown out of the bins, as they tend to do here and you could guaranteee that the trains would turn up and be on time!

I was staying in Lee around  21 months ago for my ex mother in law's funeral (she used to live in Stubbington and later in Lee) and had a walk along the path next to the beach around 7.30 in the morning.  I was very surprised to see people swimming at that time in the morning in September and I definitely admire them for doing so.

+1, badly trained Dogs are a menace which is down to the owner, Dogs do not train themselves. An unruly Dog may be cute to the owner but not everyone else. We owe a Dog the correct training, that way they are given plenty of praise & attention👍🏻

You really do have to wonder about the mentality of people who let a dog off a lead when there is a specific notice telling them not to do so, as there are sheep and lambs around.

    +1 there.

A dog can only learn if someone bothers to train it and a well trained dog is a joy.

I think yesterday it was all a bit unfortunate, a very young dog with clueless owners. They let it off in the woods apparently but it soon found some open ground and was off! I hope they got the message when we handed the dog back.

Lovely morning here, I expect the coast will be packed with visitors out for the day or longer.

Enjoy the holiday weekend, hoping we might have a day at the Bath&West Show next week and then the area around it will be gearing up for nearby Glastonbury...!

Up to another lovely morning here sun is shining lots of people up and about site early this morning. Breakfast to be cooked on the Cadac soon just catching up on here with a coffee first. Not too sure what plan is today.

Just on the subject of roads in Europe we too have found them better a few years ago when we had our motorhome we done a 7 week trip through Spain and France and I honestly don’t think we hit one pot hole in that whole time but yesterday just coming down to this site from home which is a 40 minute drive we must have clattered in to at least a dozen and most of the journey is on major roads not minor ones. One big annoyance to me is the state of the roads in this country we tour the length of the UK and have visited most areas over the years and the roads are in the same state right across Britain

Agree with that 100%. Over the 30+ years that we've had dogs we have never, ever let them off the lead when there are livestock around, and the vast majority of our walks are in places where they're likely to be encountered. I just cannot understand why folk do that with even (what they undoubtedly consider to be) the best trained dog in the world. undecided

I have posted before about Ralph, who came to us at 18 months old and would be absolutely frantic around sheep in particular - now, 3 years on he can walk through a field of them without batting an eyelid. It just takes patience and a firm hand along with suitable rewards.

Result - happy owners and happy dogs!  🐕🐕

Thanks nellie.   Unfortunately we will be arriving on a Thursday and leaving on a Monday as we had to fit in  with the friends we are visiting, they are hiring a cottage in Little Tew and arrive on the Friday for a week.

We are meeting up with them on either Saturday or Sunday........will suggest Sunday to them!  And that we meet at their place.

I’m with you fully👍🏻. My Dogs(every one over the decades) come back to the single whistle, I never allowed them out of sight from puppyhood & always on a lead around livestock. I love Dogs but would accept the shooting of them if attacking any livestock & it would be my failing. Having a well trained Dog isn’t something to boast about it’s Dog ownership 101.

One of those days when I was up early and saw the great sunshine and just had an urge to get out there. Left the house after seven, under the Tyne in the cycle tunell, passing a docked cruise ship on the way at North Shields, and was at Tynemouth well before nine for a well earned breakfast. A few people on the beach enjoying themselves, although not my idea of enjoyment! I even caught the Amsterdam ferry coming in.

And as a service for my fellow MHers, this is good spot for an overnight stay, it's just behind the fish quay at North Shields with it's pubs and fish and chips restaurants and next to a small beach (where I took the photograph of the ferry) and a few minutes walk to Tynemouth. Aim for the cross bottom left on the map. I liked the green MH.

There's always a few MHs there.

Fully agree with the comments about roads in Europe. We travelled around the Netherlands last year for 5 weeks and can honestly say we didn't see never mind hit a pot-hole. The roads were a credit to the country.

We were surprised to see one very country road in the very north of the country closed for resurfacing work as we had cycled on it the day before and it was perfect.

    Fully agree with Peedee's assessment.

A day of cleaning, clothes and caravan, but not overdoing it. MiL mentioned she wanted a parasol for the garden. As she mentioned it 6 times after we got home yesterday we went out early to town and bought one.laughing So she is now a happy bunny.

Should be a quiet week as neighbours opposite who have 2 young children have gone off for a week in a static with friends.cool

Enjoy your weekend whatever you are up to.

After a nearly seven month wait I actually took delivery of my Kia Niro HEV today. It should have been yesterday but unfortunately there was a clerical error in registering the car, one day out! It's all very electronic, more like a fighter jet than any car I have driven. There is no handbrake lever, even that is electronic. I did get a bit confused at one point with the handbrake but a little message appeared on the dash telling me what to do! Lots of books to read, the handbook is about an inch thick!  I have been fortunate to be able to buy new cars for some years now and this is the first one that came with a full tank of petrol.

I did warn you that it’s all electronic and very futuristic, David. Personally, I love the handbrake🙂

Oh!!! we have a very strong swimming club who venture in 365 days of the year, not part of that club, i am normally June thru august/september, but glorious weather just now so have been in early, we also have a very large charity event on New Years day when a few hundred folk venture in, to qualify as having achieved this you are supposed to swim to one of the mooring bouys just off shore, but a lot do not make this, but it is good fun as everybody is in fancy dress. My garden thermometer is showing 24 degs so am going to don my bathers and cycle down for another dip. Happy Bank Holiday weekend to all laughing

Another hot sunny and cloudless day. We went on a short tour from the site to visit 3 churches and two Castle. Firstly to Garway to see The Knights Templar's Church of St Michael, then down narrow  lanes to Skenfrith to visit the 13C castle and the medieval St Bridget's church.  From there we went onto Kilpeck to see the ruins of the 12th C castle and the fascinating Church of St Mary and St David, dated around from 1140. This chuch is famous for its gargoyles and carvings.

The photos below are of Skenfirth Church, castle and Garway Church.

Some very interesting locations there Nellie. Don’t think we have been to any🤔

Another very warm day here. Pottered around in garden doing this and that after a local walk in our woods. That’s as exciting as things got today🤣

I have driven the new car for about 50 miles today on variety of roads. We even went to check a CL about 15 miles from where we live but it seems very popular. One thing, amongst many, that has puzzled me is that you can lock all the doors but if you go and check the rear hatch door it will open. If I take the keys indoors and go back and check its locked! There might be something in the settings I can change to correct that?

Took myself off to a Vintage ( steam  wink ) rally  at Smallwood near J17 [Sandbach ]  got thoroughly worn out and retired to the Ducky for a lunch-time rest only to be rudely awakened by the BBMF doing three laps in a figure of eight configuration ! Darn nearly fell out of the 'van surprised.  Three hairycraft  Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire doing a series of 'over-flights' from Liverpool To Shropshire !

A busy day for us yesterday. Granddaughter has been at home for a couple of weeks for various tests and hospital appointments. We took her back to Uni yesterday, for various reasons, we couldn’t leave until midday so we accepted her offer to stop over at hers.    We stopped off at Tesco on the way and got her food shopping, unpacked it all, and I did a bit of ‘tidying’, while OH had a nap. We had arranged to take her and her friend out to eat, they choose Pizza Hut, which was quite nice. Before going out we realised that her air bed wasn’t staying up too well! The Student Union, opposite, was having their end of year bash until the early hours, and the student upstairs was having a party! So we decided to travel home after all. Our granddaughter manages most of student things but she can’t drink alcohol and she gets very fatigued and needs very early nights so cannot do the nightlife, hope that she did get some sleep. Plymouth was unusually very quiet hardly any traffic, and we came home on the country roads, which were quiet. Beautiful evening travelling across parts of Dartmoor etc, home very late but we made the right choice.

Another lovely day here again sunny and blue skies hoping this is the start of our summer now.

Had a great day yesterday we took a drive down the coast had a wander round Stranraer and then headed in to Portpatrick which as usual was great it’s a lovely place for a wander around especially on a nice day we had a drink outside the Harbour House Hotel with a great view out to sea. Got back to the van around half 6 and the sun was still out so we fired up the Cadac and had burgers for dinner. Not sure what the plan is today hopefully just a relaxing day

Glad your back out and about in your van Brian.
