Great news AD, enjoy your trip to Sardinia., Hope that the MRI scan helps the medics to find what's what with Ros, Richard.

Have a safe tow home, WN, you certainly picked the right weeks to go away.

Debs, we won't be able to visit the Antiques Centre as we move back to the West of the M5 tomorrow, so will miss bumping into Mr Grant. Glad to say that we have avoided meeting another "celebrity" by not going to visit the " farm shop" next door.

Bit of a disappointing day today, although did manage to get filled up with dthiesel at a relatively reasonable price. Went to Broughton Castle but to get on one of the tours meant a long wait. However the church was worth seeing. Then onto Upton House, but couldn't take Flyte around the grounds, and as there was no shade in the car park we couldn't leave him in the car while we went around the house.

The site has been around 3/4 full at least for the whole time we have been here, which we thought surprising it being the week before the upcoming Bank Holiday.

Up early for a food delivery, an awful lot missing, basics like carrots and onions. No cream for the strawberries. Strange to see so much not being available. Luckily can hopefully top up at small local shops but they often have empty spaces. OH grows a lot of veg but it's changeover from winter veg to summer just now.

Looks like another warm day with more to come, not much rain on the horizon. Good for all the family holidays next week! 🌞

A good day out Steve, Kings Cross looks greatly improved too.

Just found out our lack of food being delivered this morning is due to delivery problems which will last over the weekend. frown

    Steve

I am quite a fan of David Hockney and many years ago we went to one of his exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. I can't imagine how he creates such paintings on an iPad, so very clever.

P.S.   Three minutes to see my post appear  but CAMC Site told me I could try later

This site is getting worse & worse  --  wonder if it's due to last nights work !!

Have you ever visited around the area he set his Yorkshire paintings in DK? It’s a lovely area, East Yorks and the Wolds, South of Bridlington. It’s not hard to see how he got all the colours and contours, and the tree scapes. Some nice sites as well, if you keep a little clear of Bridlington itself, with the big holiday camps. We stayed quite a bit around Bridlington as children, there is a lot of history and some nice gardens. Burton Agnes is particularly lovely. I like DH paintings as well.

I later realised that the strawberries were also missing, I think 10 missing items and a substitution must be a near record....but the bill was a lot lower. wink

Yes ABM, the site is slow, especially if you post and then realise an edit might be needed, you have to wait quite a long time for the post to emerge and hopefully catch up with it in time to edit.

He gave a real boost to the area when he returned to E Yorks for a time.

There is also an exhibition till October at Salts Mill in Saltaire, "A Year in Normandie" which looks like a trip to the Bradford area would be worth a visit. smile

Had a silly morning. I've been looking after our "extra" dogs at some point nearly every day this week. Persuaded OH to go out and have a coffee over in Stoke St Gregory, the willow centre and walks in the sunshine are very pleasant. Had a nice cheese scone and set off for a walk by the Tone. Met two women who said they were walking and their very young dog had run off, they had actually continued the walk without the dog!! Just our luck to meet lost dog advancing towards some cattle so managed to catch it with spare lead and then had to walk all the way back to find the women....grrr. End of morning out, so we came home.

Very hot today in Chaniers, site emptied out this morning I suspect many are going to the coast. Not us though until the BH weekend is over 😁

Went for a cycle ride this morning on the other side of the river. To get across you catch the small ferry that pulls it's way across and back again. All free and it runs all day until 18.00. The site is right on the banks of the Charente, we can see it from our pitch. It was 36c in the caravan when we returned and that with all skylights open and all windows on night vent. Outside temp is 28c, we've got a few clouds building now so might cool down a bit for sleeping tonight.

This site seems to be favoured by the Dutch and Brits, hardly any French vans but a few folk in the cabins, which are on stilts. They look rather nice and big. Very quiet last night so here's hoping it stays that way for the weekend. Did our weekend shopping late afternoon in Saintes. Haven't had the chance to look around the town yet though as its to hot to be walking in built up areas. A sit by the river bank might be just the thing.

Have a good BH weekend, hope the weather stays nice for it.

Good Hockney prints David.  One is Garrowby Hill (on the A166) with view over Vale of York, we live about 10 minutes away.  We went to Salts Mill a few years ago and saw his exhibition on Woldgate, these were all done on his iPad.  Interesting artist.  Hope everyone has a lovely, warm bank holiday weekend, we are garden fence painting so won’t be going anywhere!!

Apparently it’s a lot of stores that are affected to varying degrees. This was Cambridge. Fortunately we did most of our shopping elsewhere and had just popped in for a few items. No veg whatsoever, well apart from a few onions and garlic😂. Also very little other fresh produce such as meat, fish and ready meals.

    You, me and Mrs.WN, Brian.smile

Had a fairly uneventful journey home once we had navigated our way down from the C.L. to Hebden Bridge. Bit hairy to start with but we managed.

Home about 11.30 which was lucky as local primary school, which we have to pass on the way into the village, had their sports day, this morning for infants and this afternoon  for juniors but the parking is atrocious. We wouldn't have been able to navigate our way to our home if we had arrived after 1pm but fortunately the infants had finished by the time we got home.

Had trouble getting out in the car for a run to Tesco later on. First time we've spent over £100 on a weekend shop, outside of Christmas. surprised

Didn't see too many gaps Brue. We were moaning about Tesco in Filey and Scarboro but we must have hit lucky today as we got everything, and more, today.

Easy tea tonight. Pizza and a glass of red.

Really enjoyed the 17 days away.

Glad to hear you've hit some hot weather Tammy.

    Steve

I assume that is Waitrose at Trumpington? We used to walk up there from the C&CC site in the past. We were in the MK branch yesterday and whilst not quite as empty as that there were certainly more gaps than usual. Yet a couple of days before we were in a Lidl and they seemed to have plenty of stock although their fruit and veg isles were not as spacious as those in the pictures.

We arrive here on site early afternoon glorious weather to start the bank holiday weekend. Not the best drive down here though the roads were very busy a journey that normally takes us around 40 mins took well over an hour. Site is full this weekend. We are just sitting outside the van got the pizza cooking on the Cadac and have just opened a beer.

hope everyone else has a nice weekend

Glad your weather has improved TG we even managed to get to 30.2C today warmest day since the 6th of this month enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Glad you got home safely WN and you enjoyed your break away.

Have a good weekend break Frances and any other folk who are away this weekend, we used to be away many years ago when OH had to take holidays when his works closed down for school holidays.

Yes another holiday here for Pentecost 4 this month this year maybe different next year as it is leap year s may not be able to bridge the holiday with the weekend so much, warm again tomorrow then going a bit cooler and back to storms next week, have noticed that the Jetstream is sitting better for UK than here as it is below us rather than above us.

Had an email from our local nursery to say the plant I wanted was now available so went up this morning to collect and pay cash as only 2 plants the owner said he was busy will you be ok to go and pick your plants and said which polytunnel they were in gosh the plants have grown since the last time I went, just like a child in the sweet shop so many plants to look at but only came away with the 2 plants I wanted  and they can cope with the dry and the heat so will be interested to see what they grow like and the flowers.

    Have a good weekend folks.

Brue that is so bad about the lost dog, some people just shouldn’t own them. All over our local news about livestock worrying and the grief it causes. Had you not caught their dog it could have done so much damage. Some local farmers are threatening to shoot on sight if a dog caught chasing their stock.

Wow....not seen anything like that up here!

OH was in Asda yesterday, shelves full.

And in our small Lidl today, shelves also full.

She also bought a beach shelter for the children for our upcoming trip, tried it out, and eventually managed to fold it up again!!

TG, the site we have been on was also clearing out this morning prior to what I expected to be a rush in this afternoon, as it has been well occupied this last week. Enjoy the rest of your trip even if it is rather too warm for sleeping comfortably.

We had a steady tow out of the Cotswolds and back to Herefordshire, with only a shortish holdup at the Air Balloon roundabout. There are just the 4 caravans on the site so certainly not crowded, and the price is still the same as it was last time we were here over 5 yrs ago!!😁 OH took advantage of the fine weather as soon as we arrived at 12:30 because the washing was done and out on the dryer by the time we sat down for lunch at 1:45. Can see a red sky through the trees now, so it looks as if it will be another fine day tomorrow.

Kjell, I don't know what days you have planned to be at the Chipping Norton site but it gets very busy on the roads and noisy too over the weekend, especially on a Sunday, with boy racers and high powered motorbikes. It is quiet enough at night but traffic passing the site starts around 7:00 during the week. If you want any more info just ask.

It seems that Waitrose has had an IT problem which has prevented proper replenishment I saw on Facebook.. So it seems not a shortage of stock in the warehouse but actually getting it to the branches. No doubt will be resolved in a day or two but probably many lost sales.

It was the Trumpington store. I walked there while the OH was doing the washing in the site machines. As you put, it seems it’s an IT issue that has been plaguing them for a while and has now really hit hard. Hopefully they can sort it out this time.

Much prefer this site to Cherry Hinton, although given the number of tents I would think the facilities not really sufficient for the currently full site, particularly as two of the gents showers are out of commission due to a dodgy roof.

Indeed the roads do make a big difference, even in France away from large towns.  Although it’s a while since I’ve done 300. I would hate to do half that if the roads were like the M11 yesterday. Very busy and full of pot holes. Perhaps another thing to be put on the positive side of the balance sheet for our travels in France, less damage to the RV by it being continuously shaken apart.

Must be a major problem because it was like that when I was there at the very beginning of April. Initially they were closed but they managed to get them partially open before we left. Sounds like it has not been fully sorted.

Ever since we got back from touring over there this year I have been trying to put my finger on what is so different between the UK and over there. I went through 10 countries and all of them had better roads, whether minor or major, than the UK and what is more they were all tidier than here. Well kept verges, little to NO litter and well swept kerbs and maintained pavements. We really are the poor nation of Europe.
