We know it ET. There are one or two other nice pubs with pitches of one sort and another close by, including a Britstop almost under Ribblehead Viaduct.
Ruddy Guardian is a nuisance reviewing the nice places like this. We have had many a discovery inundated after Guardian has broadcast things🤣
Thanks for adding.

We walked past this site today - in all the years we've been coming to Cornwall, never knew it existed!
Adults Only, with lovely views over the valley and away from the main road so probably not as noisy as the nearby club site.
Haven't bothered to check prices, but it may interest some of you.

Thanks for that👍 Two doors down from the Old Post Office is Bernie’s Cafe. It was always THE place for walkers, cyclists and cavers. Long time since I have been in, but the food and chat was legendary😁

That looks a fine site, M, thanks for the heads up.
Reading the site details they charge a basic price for serviced pitch, and then extra for those wishing to use the toilets and shower, as has been part of a suggestion by tda in another section.

Might be one for us as well M😁 Thanks for posting👍

Another site we walked past today, in a completely different part of the country. Between the villages of Sawley and Bolton in Bowland in Lancashire with lovely views over the River Ribble to Pendle Hill. Only 2 units on it today.

A site that we visited for the first time last year... we're revisiting this summer for a short stay. It's an adults only site. Not sure whether it qualifies as 'small', but we enjoyed it..... Wells Touring Park, Somerset:

......another site we liked was Greenacres Touring Park, just outside Carlisle:

...however we do like the quirky Club site, just a bit further south... Englethwaite Hall (but no toilet block here).

Thanks M and David for those sites.
Moulesy, what is the road to the Bowlaithe site like for towing, as some of the roads around there are rather narrow and can be busy in the holiday periods?

Depends where you're starting from, Nellie!
But you can bypass Clitheroe on the A59, take the turn off for Sawley, carry on over Sawley Bridge (signposted Bolton by Bowland) and up to the site no problem, access looks easy, directly off the B road.

Thanks M, that's the way we went to Top Bank Farm CL, but we turned left just after the bridge.

As this would be not too far from home, I had a look at this site. Looks to be in a nice part of Lancashire, but reading the T&Cs I was very surprised to read: Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted. Presumably they mean left-hand side (if looking at the caravan from the front) though! Doesn't affect us, but I don't think I've seen that mentioned on any site in the UK.
The other thing is that changes cannot be made to any booking. I accept it's not the site owner's fault if someone can't take up their booking; but we have found (on the odd occasion that we wanted to change dates) that owners have been flexible in that respect; providing of course they have a pitch available.
Will keep the site in mind though for a short notice booking for a short break.

Not an area we know well at all, but looks a great location. Most sites have the odd thing that perhaps doesn’t suit all, nothing on there would put us off considering it for a short break. Thanks for adding M👍

We have just spent 5 days at Gorse Farm Caravan Park close to Fordingbridge. A beautiful grassy site with a mixture of grass pitches and hard standings.
The hardstandings are not connected to a road so the overall image of the site is mown grass. It is hard to describe the amount of space available, pitches are very large but what is amazing is the separation distance to facing caravans, probably in the region of 20 - 30 m.
Access is very good being only 200m from the main road. For those who know the area the site is quite close to Sandy Balls Holiday Village.

Decided to break a journey from Suffolk to North Wales and stopped at a site about 5 miles from Stafford centre, so the same from the M6.
https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=9689
Although UKCS shows that they have a website I don't think they do but the owner was friendly enough when we rang for a pitch and payment taken in the shop upon arrival.
It's basically a 30 pitch site on a farm that has a cafe, ice cream parlour (made from the milk of their own cows) and a menagerie of animals for the kids and their parents to look at. The menagerie is free but the ice-cream isn't! There are goats, llamas, cattle, sheep, ducks, guinea fowl etc. plus a bird rescue centre (charge made).
The site itself has toilet block with showers, shared when shop open but exclusive for campers at other times. Pitches are mainly well mown grass with some hardstanding. We stayed the 1 night for £18 in June. Open all year round and an ideal stopover for anyone heading either across country or up and down the M6.

That would suit us very nice WN. Thanks very much. Stafford Castle is quite interesting, usually our lunch stop if heading over to Shropshire👍

Yes Stafford Castle is interesting but it's a long time since I've been. About 50 years.
Went on a school trip as my father was posted to the RAF camp there and I went to the local Grammar school for 2 years.
Nice campsite though as there was only the 6 of us on site last night and the manager spread us around which showed a bit of thought on his behalf.

Surely that is what review sites are for? Not sure we should embroil CT in negative reports on non Club sites, there are plenty of other sites for that.

Unlike some others who wish to keep their "special" small sites secret I will share the latest that I have used.
Edisford Bridge Farm Caravan and Camping Site is situated outside Clitheroe, just past the C&CC site, off the B6243. It has 30 H/S pitches and a newish toilet block, reception and common room. The pitches are well spaced, although rather narrow, and those wishing to erect an awning would have to utilise some of the grass area between the pitches. There are also a couple of grassed areas which take tents, and a large field for walking ones pet, but which may be used as a rally field. There is a pub round the corner from the site's entrance which does food but usually finishes serving around 8:30. We didn't eat there so cannot comment of the quality of the meals, but the beer was fine!!😁 The site is reasonably priced and out of the peak season of July and August have a Monday to Thursday discount for the over 65s which is currently £16 pn, probably rising to £19 next year. The site does have seasonal pitches and closes from early January to the end of March. We will certainly not hesitate to return.

Anyone looking for a small, peaceful, out of the way site would do worse than to try this one that I walked past near the village of Appletreewick in the Yorkshire Dales today. Right on the Dales Way footpath, half way between Bolton Abbey and Burnsall. Only appeared to be one motorhome and a couple of tents there today. They also look to have 2 or 3 large "glamping" outfits on site, though no one usingvthem as far as I could see.

Looks nice M👍 Thanks for that, a very nice area to visit.

Did not know re this post but here goes 1 for you moulesy.
Killiwerris https://www.killiwerris.co.uk/
Steve & Josie have owned the site since 2020 and have made substantial changes, they live on site
not visited this site since before covid but will be back from Spain next week so will be visiting Fri 12th May thru 22nd May, very small, 17 pitches, tranquil site very dog friendly, up to 2 go free.
Not sure it would be good for large MH,s as you need transport to get around, St Agnes ,Perranporth, Crantock 10 - 20 minutes drive and i believe we visited a club site which over looks the beach, Godrevy ?
there is a static caravan in the house grounds and an apartment adjacent to the house, they now do Yoga classes daily and have a deal with an ebike rental company who will deliver and collect, £30 per day, not sure how that stacks up and not sure how safe the roads are in the area for bikes.
pitch fees vary £30 - £35, but some months they do a 7 day deal for £200
