I just checked the Carnon Downs site for us. It’s £40 a night and doesn’t have availability until 28th April. Not much good to us.

so shouldn’t the DP mean the price should be higher if there’s no availability until the end of the month? Beechwood is empty and is £50 a night. Something doesn’t add up here CAMC

Not sure how you have got that Chris, unless you are possibly only looking at serviced pitches. I had a look just now, and there’s lots of pitches right through until end of April. Either £44 or £39.20, depending on dates you want. I didn’t check serviced pitches. 🤷‍♀️

York BG is coming up either £42 or £46 for me for a couple. What has surprised me is that York RP is coming up cheaper.

Apologise, if I look at hardstanding it comes up with lots of availability @ £48.60 a night for us.

It’s ok, it’s not the easiest Site to use to get a price🤣

You set me off looking at a few other things as well. Cornwall being one of our favourite places, I had a quick glance at a few cottage websites. Late availability, which suits us, there are some very nice one bedroom cottages dotted around, and at around £500 for a full week, it’s not worth bothering hauling the MH down there at that price differential, and that’s via a letting agency, so owners direct contact will be even cheaper.

Thanks TG, someone else put me right. It’s not a site we are familiar with, I think I’ve mixed it up with another place👍😁

We have just returned this afternoon from a weeks all inclusive holiday in a first class hotel in Spain for £1040. Weather was fabulous. It makes £500 for a self catering holiday seem expensive to us.

Just to clarify the £1040 included all flights and transfers.

Don't think you would like it anyway, tda, too much like a car park, even more so than other CC sites IMO.

It’s in North Devon which is much like Cornwall, DT. You’d hate it. 🙂

I can just about put up with Devon TW especially at £20 per night, as long as it is for 2 adults. The wife insists that I bring her.😀

I think we stopped at Plymouth Sound around 35 years ago Brue😁 Back in the days when we took four days to get to Cornwall🤣 can’t remember much about it. We probably did Bath as well that time, I do recall that being nice.

Our favourite (used to be) cheap CC Site? Two actually, Exeter Racecourse and Marazion. ER has an area just like a large CL, it’s fantastic for walking and cycling and you have the Devon Riviera Coast nearby, and fabulous Dartmoor 10 minutes away. I think we would like Stover as well, but we get waylaid by Exeter every time🤣

Ours used to be Much Wenlock (Presthope), grand walking out on the edge. We like the Stover and Bromyard Downs sites too.

A well respected CT member reported that upon arrival at Cayton Village on Sunday 16/04 that there was quite a few empty pitches yet the price had not altered at all. So Dynamic Pricing only works one way with this "Club" and that is upwards.

It would appear that they would rather have empty pitches than offer a reduction that might have earned them some money.

Perhaps someone from the club could come on here and confirm under what circumstances the "club" would lower prices to entice customers.

Cheers TW. Doubt it will provoke anything useful but sometimes you have to let the money crunchers know you are not blind to their ways.

If prices were going to be lowered then “from” price would need to be changed to “guide” price.

Looks like CAMC are now responding to empty pitches with 20% reductions on selected sites. https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/uk-holidays/special-offers/

Surely the from price is also dynamic, so in theory at least can go down as well as up.🤔

Personally I can’t see last minute reductions happening much if at all in this first year. The club clearly want folk to book early to bring in the deposits, hence the increase as the date approaches and particularly if the site is filling up. In the colder months when occupancy may be down, it is perhaps better to leave pitches empty than to sell them off at bargain prices, only for it to cost in increased electric usage. Perhaps if / when all pitches are metered there will be more scope.

Just seen brues  post. That’s more the type of reductions I expected to see as it still brings in the deposits.

That's dynamic pricing in action. They’re reducing prices to sell pitches. The only surprise to me is they’re announcing reductions so far in advance.

These offers are interesting. However, the reduction is off the pitch fee but is is possible to see the pitch fee anymore?

I can only do it for one site, but it does give an idea of the  savings over waiting / booking early. We booked early and are paying 11% less than the current price. Therefore by waiting we would have saved 9% more. Although currently one of the 3 days we booked is unavailable.

If it’s only off the pitch fee then there might not be much difference in booking early and the offer, as my figures were off the total price.🤔

The Ts&C's say the reduction is off pitch price and guests.
