A lovely sunny day here in west of Scotland, lots of power being produced from our roof.

Excess power produced is now heating our water tank.

We are still not out of the woods on mishaps.......

Today DD rang to say none of the indicators on her car were working.  They had gone to Culzean Castle and decided to see if her car was working better.   Engine seemed fine, but indicators not.  Handbook has been left at home so she cannot check fuses .   We will find it tomorrow and see how it goes.

I had some trousers to shorten for our holiday, using our newly serviced sewing machine.  First pair went well, left the machine to do something else, and it went mad........sewing nothing at top speed when not supposed to be doing anything!!

Have investigated and found duff capacitor in power supply.  Found a replacement in my electronics "stash" and fitted it, tried the machine and the capacitor blew up.

Trying to think of a "plan B" now

Goodness Kj. Did you demolish a cattery recently by any chance?

Bakewell today. I escaped while the ladies spent my hard earned.

Mrs WN told me that a man was crossing the road after pressing the button on the pelican lights. He started early as nothing coming. Halfway across and his dog decided that it just had to answer natures call. Meanwhile the lights had turned red, almost as red as the dog owners face as he ran to his partner, handed her the dog and ran back into the middle of the road to clean up after pooch.embarassedlaughing much to the amusement of the waiting cars who somehow didn't mind waiting this time. Dogs eh?  Who just wagged his tail at the return of his owner.cool

We had a pleasant saunter along the Monsal Trail this afternoon. Lovely sunny day but that breeze let you know it's not quite T-Shirt weather.

Nice day today.  Managed to get out into the garden to do some tidying.  Replaced some of the garden light bulbs, set up the water feature, filled up the bird feeders, cut the hedge, started sorting out the 'pots'.  I need to paint my garden wall tomorrow..... providing it doesn't rain!!  😃

Glad you had a good time there, W. Would you recommend the cottage you stayed in? Always on the look out for places near The Packhorse, we're about 3 minutes walk away this year! laughing

Good to hear that MIL enjoyed her birthday break WN. You sound as though you got some good weather as well. Have a good journey home.

It's been a lovely day here as well. I got 2 lots of washing dry outside and did a good clean of the house - it's surprising how the sunshine can give you more energy😁. OH did some more tidying in the garden and cleaned and filled up the bird feeders. He decided to give the grass another day to dry put before giving it a cut.

Lovely photos tda. You seem to be making the most of your days off. Hope your OH"s back is getting better.

Gosh you do seem to be having a run of bad luck KjNN.Hope your luck improves soon.

Thanks, millie, but OH is a bit put out as it is she stood with Flyte, not me!! 😄 It was a frog that suddenly appeared in front of her, and I don't know who was the more surprised, she or it!!

Good to read that you had a productive day, making the most of this good weather we all seem to be having.

Unfortunately when Flyte and I went out for his last walk past night the clear skies earlier had clouded up somewhat so not many stars were visible, maybe it will be better tonight.

We woke to find the car frozen over but the sun was out and it soon clear. Drove down to Castle Douglas to Tesco for some essential provisions before heading to Threaves Estate and Garden for a wander round before lunch. Then onto Threaves Castle where we got a good sighting of the pair of Ospreys there, both on their nest and flying around when disturbed by a juvenile Red Kite. Our last night here before a night's stopover at Penrith and then home as we don't stay away over the Easter weekend.

Kjell, hope all the problems your family are having this holiday are over and everything will be fine from now on.

Tda, good to see that you manage a grand day out. It has been a while since we visited the castle so must try and fit one in sometime in the relatively near future. Hope your trip in May goes to plan.

Have a safe journey home, WN, glad that you all have had a fine time at Bakewell.

Lovely photo, Corners, fingers crossed that the good weather holds for the rest of your stay in the Lakes, as it makes all the difference there.

Things are looking up........I have wired a temporary bypass for the dud capacitor, and will source the correct part, so machine can now be used.

And DD has managed to fix her indicators, with help found on the internet in the Volvo Owners' Forum.

She had a problem a while back with the hazard flashers in that the switch would not stay turned off, so she had taped it to keep it in place.  This failure can apparently interfere with the correct operation of the indicators.  She thinks possibly the hazard switch had rattled a little loose on exiting the site this morning,  but not enough loose to activate the hazards.

She had noticed that the indicators still flashed when using the remote locking, so decided to see if the hazards also worked, and found they did, so not a fuse problem.  So she googled it and found the solution on the  Volvo forum.

She managed to get the hazard button to stay back in place by administering a few hefty  thumps, and all seems well meantime.

Hopefully she will not need to use the hazards anytime soon!!

Thanks Nellie, fingers crossed for May🤞 Glad you have had a good time in D&G, it’s a lovely area, lots of interest. We enjoyed the gardens and the Ospreys at Threave, just annoyed about the Castles and Abbeys all being closed last year.

Poignant report on BBC this morning, Penlee Lifeboat House has been granted listed status. I can clearly recall watching the news unfold on that dreadful 1981 night, and we always think of those poor families affected when we visit Mousehole. RNLI volunteers are some of the bravest souls on Earth……https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/apr/04/penlee-lifeboat-station-saved-for-nation-42-years-on-from-tragedy

Busy day here today had to be up early as the Volvo was going in to the garage we bought it from for a warranty issue only half a mile from home but they wanted it first thing. Since we got it we have been unable to use the radio when the engine is not on it kept giving a low battery warning message then cutting the radio off. Seems it was the battery that was faulty so a new battery fitted today under warranty so hopefully that solves the issue. Gave it a wash when I got it home ready for our couple of nights away near the end of this week. Not a bad day here weather wise but a bit Cold. Hope all those away are having nice trips

Lovely sunshine here but another heavy ground frost this morning, hoping we don't get an air frost which will affect the blossom. Damson flowering now and a few people taking to the air, probably a bit chilly!?

Interesting that,  Francis - we had similar battery problems with the 3 year old Volvo we bought back in summer - it meant the stop/start function wouldn't work. Support battery replaced  (on second visit) then main battery replaced. Took 4 visits before it was put right! (And our dealership is also just about half a mile away!) surprised

Many apologies to Mrs Nellie!! I should have gone to Specsavers 😁

Entirely agree with you about the RNLI tda. We are great supporters of them. Back in the day OH used to sail across the channel with some friends a couple of times each summer. Thankfully they never needed the help of the RNLI but were forever grateful to know they were there if needed.

After a very cold and frosty start (my car needed defrosting) it has been a beautiful day with wall to wall sunshine. I am a bit worried about our magnolia though. Why is there always a frost just as it comes into bloom 😪

Very welcome garden help today. Posted photos on gardening help and hints thread. I think we're getting there.

A 2nd very frosty morning, yesterday -3c today -2c 🥶 beautifully sunny and bright, but I'm worried about plum blossom.

Dates firmed up for NZ friend to stay during her visit to Europe 😀, something to look forward too.

Busy weekend, after horrible weather drive to Essex Friday, no let up, grand dog overnight as well as friend sleepover. Nice to catch up. Dropped her at Peterborough Station 😱, felt I 'threw' her out whilst on double yellows with hazards on 😱😱. Never been to station before, they certainly don't seem to want you to either! I can see why son says better to use Huntingdon, not been there either but believe they do have drop off area. Home to cook roast for son and family. Lovely catch up, grandson refused to walk with his parents and the dogs. Forgotten about cooking whilst minding a 2 year old 😂😂. He discovered the 'new to him' little times Wendy House whilst I got something from garage freezer, so unplanned building if it. Worth it to see his face. Space that did have garden furniture now occupied by Wendy House 😂😂. Mummy now has to bring a tailer to collect it instead of it being in pieces. That's how we collected it!

Can't think why I felt tired yesterday 😴

Edit forgot to tell of today's House surprise 😮.  Bathroom toilet soil pipe leak. Investigation would suggest not the first 🤐🤐. Bathroom Refit looks to be on the cards sooner rather than later. Thank goodness for the pension increase this month!

Bakers2. If ever you need to pick up/drop off at P/B train station in the future use Waitrose car park. If you park at the back on left hand side of the shop you are right next to the station. You get an hours free parking although you do need to get a ticket from the machine. That is what everyone uses. It is very convenient.

Ours in a new  to us XC60 but is 6 years old but I have read online that this is a common issue I’m hoping the new battery fitted today fixes the issue. You are right though the stop start system only worked occasionally since we got the car but when I picked it up this afternoon it was working although I don’t like it so switched it off

Not so sunny here today, just some 2-3 hours late morning, enough to run the dishwasher.

Down to DD's flat to re-fit smoke alarm and instruct tenants that they do need to let it have some power each week by turning the ceiling light on occasionally.  They did have the unit off the base as they had painted the ceiling, so obviously had not clicked it back in place correctly.

Then to DD's house to feed her budgies and pick up a parcel to return to Amazon.   Found a notice saying there would be filming at a house in the street this week, so no cars to be parked, and whole street to be closed off on Thursday, Friday and Monday.

Not good as we had arranged to drop our Smart off in their driveway on Thursday in case they had any more car trouble.  So we have swapped budgie duties with the in-laws and will go tomorrow instead.

Next stop was the post office , then M&S and Aldi for shopping for our holiday.  Prices in M&S have risen again, so we did not buy much, and at Aldi there was a shortage of some fruits, and no eggs at all, so we will need to shop elswhere tomorrow.

Finally home for a very late lunch and to finish shortening my trousers.

It must have been cold here overnight too, Millie.  There was a layer of ice on the water feature and the car was iced up a little.  It seems warmer tonight.  Managed to paint my small garden wall today, and the roof man came reset the ridge tiles and replace some felt and re-do some guttering.  Off to visit Carol's sister tomorrow, so a less 'energetic' day.  Hopefully the sun will shine

If you need to find anything else, go right to the top of this page, and click on the Club logo in the top left corner. There are lots of other headings up there, if you want to click on some and explore a bit.😁

Edit, sorry I have repeated what others have posted🤭
