How's your footy team doing?

Only one point at home against Wimbledon which team was, apparently, as appalling in the 'Attack Mode ' as was Crewe, and when either side did manage to shoot they upheld the age-old comment about banjo's and cows posteriors !!
I will { dare } say no more !

Had to look that up, You naughty Scoutman
When I googoogoogled it I found you were just saying thank you to Gareth Bale for the services he has rendered to Welsh Soccer ~~ and rightly so, he has been a good and faithful servant to your International side !

Oh Dearie Me , T'Alex took a lead just before half time in the League match against Stockport tonight, I did a quick re--loading of the tumble drier, topped up the cup of tea to find they had conceded a not very bright equaliser just after half time so just another garrstly home draw on the porage pitch. Sniffle sniffle sob.
Whats the odds on England getting ( yet ) another beating in the 50--over crikit in Joburg tomorrow

Just to upset your odds they went and won, ABM, with Jofra Archer back on form, with 6 for 40, and two centuries by Butler and Malan!!

Not posted on here for a while. Good to see Brian’s still following t’Alex! (And I’m still watching out for Accy Stanley)
A friend of mine (another lifelong Alex fan) went to Gresty road yesterday - but sadly didn’t come home. He was taken ill during the game and has died.
At least he went to the great game in the sky doing what he loved 👍⚽️
No need for ‘sorries’ enjoy watching your teams 👍

Hi, Jonray { Ex- Tugger }
T'Alex confused yours truly today !
Regular checks away at 'Arrowgate 1 - 0 down then 2 - 0 down.
Looking ominous until I checked late on in second half 2 -- 0 became 2 -- 1 then, just before the Final Whistle 2 -- 2 ~~ Perked up the ailing one quite markedly !!
So I might even get a decent crikit result tomorrow morning as well !!

Indeed we are , EX--t !!
But a sad memory in todays news papers about that young lad in the Milk Adverts -- the one Mr Rush told to drink Milk and he'd play for Accy Stanley ~~ the dozy scamp went left instead of right thereafter and got this week, I believe, a couple of years at His Majesties Pleasure. Oh how sad are the choices that we make along Life's Highway.

Sad indeed Brian and not the sort of ‘advertising’ Accy Stanley need!
Some might know this, but if not - from the ‘Milk Advert’ Accrington Stanley, who were at that time playing in the eight or ninth tier of non-league football, received a sum of money (from memory it was £10k) which allowed the club to buy a lease on a ground and afford a manager, John Coleman. The meteoric rise back into League football followed and those years were probably the most enjoyable as a spectator and are indelibly etched into my grey matter. Swapping ends before kick off, banter with the opposition as we passed each other (some times as few as 6 turned up!), Other times we all stood together whilst standing on the terraces and the inevitable Holland’s pie, peas and gravy at half time, followed by a few pints in t’pub afterwards.
Ah! Those were the days and I still drink my milk 😀

Read the BBC on--screen report of todays football match and it seems t'was what we expected -- an appalling, one sided game of " We Attack and you Defend " as befits the teams League positions. Still at least they were not churning up the Porage Pitch

Hmmm, Do they not teach the players about respecting Laws of the Game any more ?? I saw the Fulham Match today and was sickened by the players & manager of Fulham prancing like infants who had lost their ice lollipops ! If we had acted or reacted like that we would have been banned from NON--LEAGUE football never mind top level leagues and Cups.
I sincerely hope that at least one, if not two, of 'em get a nice long holiday until next season !!

I've worked realy hard to control myself on here this w/end !!
Two Card carrying neighbours refused to speak to me since I kept asking ' How will t'Alex do at Donny this w/end ??
Despite only one ( impolite ) answer I remained full of hope and kept popping in to check on scores as a boy must .
Doncaster 0 { Nil/ zero / nothing / nowt / zilch } === Crewe 2
Right Now its time for a nice Sunday dinner, with extra pud & cake
{ To H*** with the blood tests }

Just make sure your Season Ticket ain't stuck in the folds FIRST, Pliers !!
A good w/end for Real Fans since T'Alex managed to scrape a Good Friday Win 3 -- 0
making them pretty much safe now so time to give more of the talented youngsters more 'porage time '

Well, something good came out of that defeat, since t'Alex did their Survival chances no harm whatsoever with a convincing Home win today. I knew it was a good win since I detected a distinct aroma of Fish n Chips n Mushy peas coming from a near neighbours breath as he said 'Evening all' with a wink !

A couple of footy rumours doing the rounds:
The Champions’ League final will be moved from Istanbul, to ….. as political instability is expected in Turkey after the elections.
Moved to Paris, maybe 😱😱😱When Jim Ratcliffe takes over at MUFC, the stadium improvements he has in mind will require the ground to be completely closed for 18 months. (And I thought it was just the leaking roof that needed fixing)
He is hoping to negotiate a ground share with ManCity (again) until the work is completed.
Any other rumours, footy fans. 🙂⚽️🙂.0 -
Strange old world, Pliers, since I've seen Gymnastics and other sport from Turkey since & during the terrible earthquake / tremors. It seems that the income from transmitting the TV pictures was a great reason to help the general recovery get some income. Now, sadly, they are expecting Tremors of a very different sort and I can only wish them the very best.
Incidentally the mention of Turkey at present reminds me of the song " And the band played Waltzing Matilda " by Eric Bogle { circa 1951 I think ) since April 25th is ANZAC Day

Struggling to think of any good things to say about t'Alex today -- lost 2 -- 0 to the Divisional Champions, pretty much as everybody expected. But they are safe & ready to welcome them there furriners from Wrexham in the upcoming season 2023 -- 2024 !
