New Booking System

Just a little update. On my desktop pc running windows 11 I cannot view my bookings but, on my laptop, running windows 10 its possible to view the bookings.
Have they not tested the system on windows 11? and are just concentrating on Windows 10. Most new systems come shipped with windows 11 now so in the future when Microsoft stops supporting Version 10 there's going to be more disruption.
No forward thinking applied

I'm now using my new chrome book which is a Google operating system, Chrome OS., everything is working at a better speed. I did a CL search in my home county and after several goes I managed to see things more clearly. However it needed several attempts and I don't consider the search facility to be easy. It really revolves around clicking on the map rather a lot. I like maps but not to this extent!!
The system has improved on my laptop Windows 10 and my Android 12 phone over the last few days.

But why is there any need to use an additional web base to search for sites when the club's new system is supposed to let members to do just that?🤔

That might be fine for the few members who read through all the relevant posts on here, but what about the vast majority who just want to be able to book sites, as they used to, and not bother with CT?

I like to ask if there was any pre testing by a members user group which would be the standard way to go with such a mag or overall and if not why not. I’ve been involved in many system upgrades and always had testing groups it’s pretty standard practice so what happened here

Been a member for over 30 years, and I mainly use CL sites, and looking at the new system, it doesn't give me any indication of cost per night, any reviews from other members, or any site specific directions, which to some sites is critical. Which means I will now have to dig out the sites handbook and double check.
I would have thought that any changes would have been made to improve the system, but this appears to loo3 -
Totally with you, how do you know if a CL is suitable without reviews, when they introduced these it was a big plus for us and along with prices. Also when looking through the CL listings it’s it or miss if you find electric hook up on the filter list, oh and there is no back button half of the time.TOTAL SHAMBLES

May I please say it one last time.
If you want a list of CLs for any particular area - and reviews - them use Google. Just type CAMC plus name of a town in any area which interests you as a Google search. All the CLs I that area will pop up and you can click on any of them
But cost per night is decided by the site owners and only they know

Fully agree you can get CL details by this method BUT WE SHOULD'NT HAVE TO!!!
We should be able to access all the details directly from the Club website!
The fact we can't just shows the Clubs contemptuous attitude to its members and particularly towards CL owners!

We should be able to access all the details directly from the Club website!
and so you should, I think it is an omission on the Club's part that there isn't a link from the summary you find by using "Book a campsite" I will be very surprised if this is not eventually provided in some way. In the meantime in addition to using Google you can use the Club's web site. The information is still there and the easiest way to find it is to use the Club's web site search facility which you can bring up by clicking on the magnifying glass in the top right hand corner of a Club web page and entering the name or part name of the site you want more detail about.
Happy searching.

But what if one wants to search for CLs in a specific area, and don't know the names of any of those sites? The old system worked reasonably well, so why should one have to use an alternative system to find sites that are part of the club's network?

Don't know why you cannot Nellie, just search in the area you want e.g. by county and you will get a list. You can even see where they are on the map or expand or shrink the area of interest. Select one that interests you and search on its name.
I am having a great deal of problem understanding why the new booking sytem does not work for most. It does have some foibles but as I said, I will be very surprised if they don't get fixed. It is not only CLs where detail is not obvious but also Club sites so there is a lot at stake.

Wow What a disaster!! This new system is apppalling I just want to know what late availabilty there is in a couple of areas but it seems I have to be precise with these details. The old system worked well why change it. How much has this change cost??? Lots of questions should be asked. I hope this was discussed on Saturday at Cannon Hall.

Anyway, the new info for CLs sucks,, in as much as there is (now) no info! Is there an attempt to undermind CL's because they are a success? Why might they be a success - because they are traditional caravanning, at a sensible price. Unlike the ranks of vans on sterile club sites having to fork out £30 plus per night for the priviledge. Get a grip C&MC. Constructive critisim of this bl**** great (new website) c*** up needs to be expanded out of this forum so that the management WAKE UP. PLEASE.

I've just used the new booking system for the first time and now understand why there have been so many complaints. I'm probably just repeating what others have said, but why change a system that worked well. I understand the reason for taking a deposit but why didn't they just add a payment page to the existing system. Life's too short to list the problems with the system so I'll just leave it there.

Have you tried using the Help and FAQ. Right click on the picture to enlarge. It works fine if you put in the date window when you want to go away. e.g. a specific weekend
If it is a specific site you want, search for the site, click book, select the type of pitch you want and scroll through the calendar to see what is free.

I think gillianmary makes a valid point you do have to be very precise. Whilst you can search for an area, the system just puts up a list of sites and positions on the map. If there is a price on the map position there is availability on some sort of pitch for your input dates. However, if it says full, it just means that some of the dates are not available. It might only be one day of the two week period you put in, you have no idea without going into the site itself.
Unfortunately whatever tweaks they may make to this new system, perhaps including pitch type in the initial filter, there is no way they can make it as good as the old version. That enabled you to get all sites in your chosen area up and just scroll through the calendar, filtering for pitch type if required. The latest evolution spanning 8 weeks, which only appeared about a year ago, was very, very good. Why they saw the need to try and change it is beyond me.

So I tried the booking site again, I put in the area Dorset and it gave me the option of 3 sites in Oxfordshire 1 in the South of France ! , as well as the sites in Dorset.
Very poor , but I didn’t expect any better from the Club , so I’m not disappointed

Perhaps it is not as good as the old system in that you cannot browse so easily but you can find late availability if you have some idea where and when you want to go, surely those are known factors? Why would you want to be imprecise?

There is no "perhaps"about it it seems unless one is a computer whiz and can spend lots of time finding "workrounds" every one else is very much still in the dark as to what the hell the club has done to cause this debacle if a replacement booking system

+1 PD, it just takes time & an open mind. If the world had a-‘if it ain’t bust don’t fix it’ mindset we’d not have evolved👍🏻

A chance? It has been a disaster since release after years design? And many it seems false starts and then being released with out first any communication
And it seems for members with IT computer skills to find work rounds hoping they will do it for this clubs IT ?? Department and make some semblance of a real replacement for what has been a very satisfactory system for it seems a big majority
It is nothing to do with deposits or resistance to change
