New Booking System

Sue and Chas. I think some of the glitches have been cleared. I would still advise, (if you know which site you want) to go in via the site details page, eg type in the site name via the search box top right of this page. On the site page press BOOK and then press BOOK again on the booking page. You'll be straight into dates and pitch types etc. I think if you want to be certain of dates and pitch types you might as well give it a go. It's much better than day one of the release!
I do think it's a pity that the site was allowed to overload at first and cause much confusion and some basic step by step procedure could be shown. There were site views shown in the FAQs before the launch but there were far too many details for people to take on board. Personally I think a step one, step two demo is helpful. Maybe there is one somewhere but it's not visible?!
Anyway the deed is done, it's change and we've had quite a week of change in general!

As i have said before i like to book in advance to make sure i get my holidays. I always go for 2 weeks at a time from Feb to November. 1K i have to pay for my deposits which the caravan club have of my money. Yes i know i will pay less when i arrive, I have just come back from New Forest Centennary Site and to bookthat now will cost me a deposit of £123.00 That is just under 12 mounths from now. You are not reading what i am saying. As for asking for deposits i was not consulted about it. I am retired and certainally got going to spend 1k on deposits.

The "where would you like to go box" which flashes up on the main page is working well if you know the site you want.
Kasspa, is it device related? I'm on my laptop just now. My android smart phone didn't do too well?!
Agree with Wedgy a snagging list along with which device is being used is needed.

Some of the glitches MAY have been sorted, but not the issue of findin/ browsing CLs. Despite using filters all I can see on 'map view' is a selection of club sites - no CLs at all !
I will not be using cramped and overpriced club sites unless I really have no option,
I should add that I am using a Windows 10 desk top.

Hi Takethedogalong,
Members and non members can phone our Club campsites to leave a message, this has always been the case and still is.
We do ask that members don't book directly with Club campsites. This has been the case since Covid hit, as it gives the campsite teams more time to clean and take care of our members on our campsites.

So do I, at least we will know not to keep reporting the same thing over and over.
I still cannot log onto the Android App, has anyone managed to or is it just me? I have reported it.

I am reading what you are writing but you are not seeing the whole picture.
I too am retired and know if I choose to holiday, it's going to cost and if I want to go away every month, it's going to cost even more. The choice is ours - pay deposits or stay at home. Sorry if that sounds harsh but it's the truth.

Thank you for the response Ro. I am reading that as you can leave a message, but response is going to be at the discretion/workload of the on site staff. I know they will do their best if it’s an absolute emergency, but it is telling me to try and put as many precautions in place as I can in terms of communications.
As for not taking bookings over the phone, once/if the late availability is running smoothly, it’s our intention to look at this and roll into a Site on spec should we consider the need. We know to have a Plan B, and it would only be mid week. That way we can avoid any deposit taking and the new booking “experience” This suits us and our way of touring.

Deposits seem to be having the desired effect. Anything booked for after May 2023 would have required deposits. Take a look at York Rowntree, there are even week ends free as of June 2023. This would have not been so under the old system, it would have been booked up solid for the rolling year.

It hasn’t been that busy PD at YRP. We have stayed after booking only a couple of weeks in advance. It’s more likely the price and the recession that’s having an effect.
Anyone found out how to browse Late Availability on an IPad yet? All I get is the booking page, and if I put three letters in I am browsing the World🤬 And yes, I am using the filters.
All I want to look at is Club Sites in North Yorkshire🤷♀️ I’d prefer to avoid Norway if at all possible……🤬

You didn't see the thread I started then. 😛

Did you see Jillwithajay's post a couple of days ago? Although the club haven't bothered to tell us (unless you are on social media) you need to delete the old app and download the new one. I have now done that and it works fine (Android/Samsung).

Can't comment on Android devices but our iPhone app came up with a message saying that this version has been superseded and should be Deleted User and install the new version from the app store...Works fine. The OH also downloaded the new version and is very pleased that it now shows her Digital membership card...and that she can pay the balance due before we arrive at the site...

Interesting observation. I too was surprised to see gaps in YRP, never known it before. In 20 years of membership have only been able to get onto that site a couple of times because of the solid bookings.
I can only comment on that site as it is the only one on my radar but I gave up considering it as an option years ago. It will be interesting to see if behaviour at other similar popular sites changes. It may be early days, time will tell.
As for deposits, I can have sympathy with the person who is unable/unwilling to part with £1K trying to sort out his year's trip. That was my previous style of planning too (a couple of cancellations were made but only for solid reasons). In these days of stretched resources I will also have to change and prioritise my choices. It is sad as it takes away the early planning of a variety of touring as you are then possibly going to be facing more "Full" problems if you book nearer the time of travel.
Que sera, it is here to stay so let's hope it all settles down and members don't have their enjoyment of touring hampered or it will cause a drain away to commercial sites and C&MC will lose out in the long run just by trying to solve an issue that was caused by a minority. I can't help thinking sledgehammer to crack a nut.......

It’s certainly a booking experience, just thought I would look at some sites in Devon , so I put Devon in the area box and it bought up 20 sites , but 3 of them are in Wales !!!
Did the Club get any change for the £10 they spent on the upgrade !!

I would like to leave a review of a site we just visited. Anyone have any idea how to? I see on latest activity reviews are still being written, but I can’t see anyway on the new site pages to access them. One interesting fact is that if you go into a review on CT latest activity and touch on the site name in the directory list at the top, it takes you to all reviews for that site as it always did. However, if you then touch on the view site you are sent to the old web pages for that site and can view directions, phone number etc, (also absent from the new system) so they are still there. Although if you touch on book a pitch you are sent straight to the new site. Perhaps they haven’t sorted reviews yet and folk are accessing them from the emails they send out asking you to leave one. Perhaps I will have to wait for that to arrive.

Have just tried to add additional nights to an existing long-standing booking. According to the new system information page I could do so without deposit or changes to terms & conditions (see text below) WRONG.
Can I add/remove nights on an existing booking?
Members - Yes, you can add or remove nights from an existing booking using the new system. Simply log in to ‘My profile’ as normal and click on ‘My UK site bookings’ to view and amend your booking(s) as necessary. Nights can be added or removed on a booking with no deposit requirement or change to booking terms and conditions.
However, system will not allow completion without paying in full or a deposit.

As far as I can see, the search engine is one of the main issues. If you click on UK, it’s still coming up with loads of irrelevant stuff overseas, even street names. It bears no resemblance to the geographical locations (such as Cotswolds, Yorkshire, etc……) that the Club uses to list its own sites. Typing in the first three letters should fetch up these locations, not all sorts of stuff, if you choose UK. It’s a real Camel of a system, with dentists rather than vets trying to fix it.

Steve, I think some are making things difficult by using the new booking pages for site searches etc the site details are still there as usual away from the booking system, this is where reviews can be left. It's all there on the top menu bar. The only thing missing in general are prices, they would be wouldn't they...

Personally I think the only people making it difficult are the club. There should be some clear guidance on where to leave reviews, find safe directions to sites, phone numbers etc and there isn’t. I must be missing something because I can’t see how to get to that page I linked from the top menu bar. I worked it back through the menus from latest activity / reviews. Surely a link saying leave a site review would be the most obvious thing to do.

I think if it does not improve by the time the caravan and motorhome show is on the best thing it's to go to the club stand and speak to them about your feelings on the club but only in a pleasant way not in a horrible way as thay do try there best

Its a bit of a long winded route, this is by the website.
- At top of page hover over Find a UK Campsite
- Under the heading All UK campsites, click on Club Campsites
- Then scroll down more than half the page you will links for See All Sites in England etc
- The next page brings links to the regions, eg Cotwolds etc
- Click Find Out More
- The next page now breaks it down to County
- Click Find Out More
- The next page now shows you the links to the club sites in that County
- Click on the site you want and it is the old web page for that site, minus any pricing information.
To make it quicker I've started bookmaking individual sites in a created folder on my chromebook.

Hi takethedogalong, thanks for your suggestion. My wife is looking at Cliff Farm as I write this reply.
We have been thinking of trying CL's out and this change to the booking system is pushing us towards that or other small private sites.
We caravan all year around and in October usually plan and book our main site choices for the next year along with stopovers on the outward and return journeys.
To pay multiple deposits out all in one go would cost a lot of money and as a retired person on a monthly budget I can't afford to do that, I need to spread the cost. Unfortunately it looks like our way of caravanning will have to change.
Cliff Farm looks very nice and affordable, we hope to try it out soon.3
