I'm not sure why one needs to buy a card over here?
As I put on another thread about this subject, you wouldn’t. The membership card would just need adapting. Either a chip, bar code or QR code, depending on reader type employed. The money is stored on your account, not the card. It could benefit the club, as folk might use it as a money saving device, to help pay for their holiday.

To be fair one will be able to do that with the club as well once payments (whenever that may be of course) are taken as said in the FAQs.
Be interesting to see what other non club sites will do, if at all?

What proof do you have to make that statement. How many is many?
You certainly do not speak on my behalf and I think wild statements like this go a long way in creating a divide between caravanners and motorhomers.
We both have the same hobby but chose to conduct it in different ways.

young thomas stated that what many motorhomers want isn't available with the CAMC. Interesting that there's around 200,000 motorhome owners in this club so they must be providing something that suits that many.

Well no, what the club offers isn't unique? Well apart from the quality of course.
There are plenty of non club sites that really mirror what the club does in terms of facilities, pitches, arrival and departures times and all the rest.
So while the rest are not members it doesn't mean they are all using the sort of sites that BB talks about. Also many of the rest might use CCC sites exclusively? Many will join the club and not use a site as well but some/many(?) CLs are just really mini club sites now. It is difficult to put a figure on it but I think/suspect that far more MHs that use 'traditional' sites than off grid or really very basic sites?
Yes when I've been on club sites motorhomes are quite often in the majority (I'm sure that was the case when you were at Melrose) and that is true of service pitches too so as said the club must be doing something right.
But you can't deny that the club with about 10% of campsites nationally actually attracts 44% of motorhomes owners to join. That is pretty good I think.

I am a member of CAMC...I use CLs as their sites don't give me what I want. As PeeDee says, there may well be 'many' like me. I certainly see plenty of MH on CLs
I am a member of C&CC...I use their sites because they do give me what I want (pitch choice, age discount, use of EHU or not), CS and THS sites. I also see loads of vans using THS sites because they give folk what they want, cheap pitches, a non EHU facility that are close to towns and don't require bookings or 'arrival time' queues.

I said 'might' and while I don't speak for you, I speak for me...so 'one all' so far😉
I see many (scores) of vans on THS sites who need to be members of C&CC yet might never use a Club site.
Similarly, I see many (usually two or three out of the other four CL users) MH on the CLs I use. As above, these folk need to be members of CAMC AND drive a MH but 'might' rarely/never use a Club site.
who knows the numbers? but being a member and owning a MH certainly doesn't mean one is a committed Club site user.
I don't see any sort of divide...other then the Club did trumpet its 'change' loudly, yet, other than the logo and web script narratives, what physically changed, regarding the new 'inclusive' provision for MHs?

+1, that’s the nub of it right there JV👍🏻

You're right bb, there are many members who own a motorhome and don't use club sites, but, there are many more that do. I could provide some numbers but that would probably just spoil the fun.

Haven’t read all the thread as this type of thread appears frequently often discussed by the same posters but I don’t see any booking /entry system to pitches as being better than another as the OP suggests - just different
CCP is as I understand it runs the IT system on behalf of the site ‘owner’ – I don’t think they run any in the UK but I may be wrong. I sort of remember that they may come to the UK but have not seen/heard anything since.
Having said that the CCP system (24/7 entry – departure etc) is not something I myself would like to see on CAMC sites as I personally feel there are less expensive/more basic pitch providers out there although with less flexible entry/exit time for those who want to use them.
Choice is there for all LV users - Rallies, CL’s, CS’s and THS’s etc even some basic sites providing you are a member of both clubs - but some of these are not available all year round.
Who knows what may be available to CAMC members when the ‘new booking experience’ goes live.

I agree re same faces posting👍🏻. It’s a good job really or CT would have nothing but silence, lurkers tend to read but not post other than when they need to complain prices have risen or a name change or ‘I don’t want meters’ or ‘I want meters’ etc. it would be a good community if others would engage not just read. We had that engagement up to a few years ago🤷🏻♂️🙁

PD where do you get that figure from? I can't find any reference to it anywhere doing a few searches, not to say you're wrong but I'd like to know where that number is? I've searched the government's Vehicle licensing statistics but I can't find any mention of motorhomes?
The closest I've come is the NCC who say about 225,000 in use which of course isn't the sam.

Last time I said something similar I was told off by one of the lurkers but at least it proved his ability to post😄.
It's a great shame the membership doesn't make greater use of the forum and that the club appears to favour FB where I believe they respond quickly.

It’s a fact from both of us. We’ve seen the days of fun, support & camaraderie👍🏻

Aye, back in the day it was different for sure.

Yes sadly in some threads now it is the place for anti-club sentiments and at any opportunity no matter what. Always there are better sites out there and anyone using a club site is a target for ridicule.
The club is not perfect or right all the time however no matter course or decision it takes it appears that some posters the opposite view must be taken. A case in point in this thread, before ANPR was going to be introduced one poster strongly suggested that was the way forward, when it was the very same poster then says it's the wrong system. No matter what the club is in the wrong - always.
As mostly these posters rarely, if at all, use club sites, and it appears to be a badge of honour to say so and say so often several times over in one week. Often it's found out they are still using club sites.
Posters lament the state of CT, and here I agree, yet we all keep coming back?
Luckily those that do use club sites with whatever outfit appear to really like them, but that view cannot be correct to some.
Also fortunately there are still places on CT where there is support and camaraderie (as Trig would say - was that the Italian poster?) is still there. Questions asked and almost within minutes answers are freely given. Help and personal wishes are often stated when needed, best wishes abound.

An observation from a relative CT newbie, you may agree with me or you may not, but I won't be offended it you don't as everyone is entitled to air they opinions.
Many a good debate on CT soon degenerates into verbal air hockey between some of the established contributers which results in Content Being Removed and threads being locked. This is a public forum open for all to see. Why would the lurkers when they see this want to get involved.
3 -
I don't mind debate and I don't expect anyone to agree with what I'm replying but nice when that happens/
However what leads to content being removed and threads locked is not polite and respectful debate, it is when personal remarks are made and/or posts break CT guidelines.
If one disagrees please come back with some counter points and the thread goes on.
1 -
It was some of the lurkers becoming active posters that introduced the combative attitude GE🤷🏻♂️. If you study the verbal hockey you will see that some introduce ‘anti’ posts to steer the posts to confrontation with super negativity. I’m personally glad you chose to actively engage as your input is both respectful & worthwhile👍🏻 Your attitude is one of positivity.

I’ll not disagree with you. In fact, you back up the comments made by Corners about the dissention that takes place while others attempt to make valid posts.
It does seem odd though that the read only members are willing to contribute when something they consider to be major such as deposits or the name change happens. If they post at those times, why not at others? I assume they consider the rest to be merely trivia🤷🏻♂️
