We need more basic facility sites

There’s a CL In the New Forest offering a whole week for £70. Cheap sites abound.

TDA mused that, when pitch type changes come in, it may well be that awning pitches are more expensive (£1?) and HS prices might also increase (£1?), rather than grass decrease.
I just picked up on that and mused a tad further. She/I (we) were talking about club sites and the upcoming changes...what else could 'we might soon' possibly mean in that context?
of course, folk can do as you remind us several times a day, go elsewhere. Some, including myself, do just that, but others are loyal to the Club and probably want their vanning to be linked to it if possible.
add the above potential increases to the current leccy add ons (up to £2.50 so far?) and an awning HS pitch might soon be £4.50 more than in the recent past.
These rises won't concern me, as I won't be using Club sites, I'll be using sites to suit my requirements, price 'limits', locations and weather pattern...
however, as a CT and CAMC member, none of the above precludes me having an interest in what 'my Club' is doing and what changes they are making going forward...these two things aren't mutually exclusive.
so, irrespective of what sites I use, and where, I'll continue to post my views on CT.....of course, if that's alright with you?

It is all about location though for us. A £70 a week CL would be no more attractive to us than the New Forest Centenary Site, if it’s as remote as that is. So would need to know where it is located. BK and the camping in the forest site are OK in that respect.

I've had 13 nights on non EHU, non facs sites in August...plus 3 months in Spain in the spring using the sun to keep our batteries charged.
im not waiting for the Clubs prices to go down, that's not going to happen. I've made my move...i won't be using club sites going forward. no desire for a 'movement' of any sort.
The thread is about how different type of club sites (no facs and/or no EHU) might help stop prices spirally away from some members.
happy to carry on posting my views on what our club is doing, or not.

Try the C&CC network of Temporary Holiday Sites...usually close to towns (easy walk) open for upto a month at a time, cheap as chips, from £10 a night.
we've just done two this past month, 9 days at Weymouth and 4 days at
Lymington...both walkable to the towns, 'proper sites' nowhere near as close and three times the price or more in August.4 -
We've used several CLs in the NF this year, all within easy cycling of the attractions (Lymington, Bucklers Hard, Beaulieu, Burley etc) and one even walking distance from Highcliffe...
having used the Centenary Site once, we would never go back there...for caravans possibly but found it too remote for us, the cycling wasn't safe like the CLs and THS sites we've used this year.

I can assure you the facilities at Warwick are for the exclusive use of campers as they also are at Uttoxeter where the club leases the site for x number of months per year. Racegoers are not permitted onto the pitching areas at those two sites.
However, use of facilities on racecourse sites has nothing to do with the perceived need for more basic sites.

Thanks for this 👍
We were members of both but dropped C&CC in favour of CAMC some years ago - might be time for a rethink
We have recently booked with freedom camping club too which hasn’t charged us a membership fee

With the C&CC magazine is a supplement Outandabout which I think you need to opt in to receive. This gives a diary by geographic venue along with contact details and directions etc. usually, no need to book, come and go as you please, pay on exit (sometimes by agreement) and head to the next one. People often build a summer tour using this type of site, hosted at rugby and cricket grounds, school playing fields etc hence the proximity to urban areas.
there is also an app Outandaboutlive, not sure if you need to be a member to see the details...might be worth downloading and trying it.
here's a screenshot from the app, this is one THS that we used.

Thank you, & we will be happy to share & respond to them. Personally I think you are missing an opportunity being an authority mind🤷🏻♂️👍🏻

Pitches not being available is not the same as the public having access to site facilities.
No, I mentioned Uttoxeter as a further example of a racecourse site where the facilities are for campers only.
You're drifting way off topic, JV, and I’m leaving it there.

Unfortunately, the uk doesn't have a comprehensive 'safe' set of routes and it's a fact of life that the vast majority of roads will be shared with other traffic to a lesser or greater degree.
Yes, the Sustrans routes steer you away from the heavy traffic and onto quieter roads, some very quiet, but most routes are likely to be a mix of thinner and denser traffic with some (hopefully) being traffic free.
we do plenty of bike miles every week, whether in the van or away, but I realise cycling isn't for everyone and the different levels of confidence will have a bearing on whether a bike (even an electric one) will put certain sites within the range of where you want to go.
we've just had 7 nights on a lovely, quiet site on the western edge of the NF and many of the vanners there had bikes....road bikes, trekking bikes, electric and not, all levels of competence and confidence....one of our pals is a bit nervous, but we see cycling as so much more than just getting us from the van to X.
The van is easy to move to another site and easy to set up so we don't miss not being able to drive 40 miles. If we really wanted to that we would either take the van (for the specific purpose) or move to another site near that point and make that the next stop.
within the context of this thread, and the use of cheaper less frills sites, the THS network puts folk pretty close to urban areas should driving not be desired and bikes not your thing...good for catching busses too.

Going off topic here BB but your quite wrong about the sustrans routes for up here and from others who I'm in contact with from all over the county who share their experience, perhaps it's in just your area? There are numerous cycle routes where no road use is at a minimum or not at all, I can easily cycle, and actually have done 50+ miles from home where the only on road use is a mile to the nearest off road cycle route north and south. From home I can, and have gone as far north at Old Hartley is all off road (and the off road continues northwards), as far south as Bishop Aulkland, as far west as Rookhope. We're just lucky we have all these old railway lines and old pit waggon ways. It would be a good new thread to share routes.

I recall very clearly you posting in past times that the club should have differential prices for grass and hardstanding to encourage their respective uses especially grass which you often said you preferred and now it has come to pass that grass is cheaper you should be happy?
I see it as a discount but you see it it as an extra expense, its all depends on one viewpoint but really it's all up to what one is prepared to pay.
Again another thread here about this rather than use this one.

No one said it wasn't serious but as you said all views should be listened to.
The thing is now harry is what you're going to do next to get what you want into actual pitches?

Since last week of July we've had 22 nights on grass. Yes, I prefer it, but that's just my preference. As HS are relatively expensive to construct, I would expect them to cost a little more as members also see them as a more 'premium' product.
a differential can be made by reducing grass prices or by increasing HS...We'll have to wait and see what, if anything, the club does.
if a pitch that was £x is repriced at more than £x (by whatever amount) that's an increase, whether one can (or chooses to) afford it or not is immaterial to that.
