We need more basic facility sites

I agree but in CT only, not the membership as is being claimed which was my point. As I have said all that is needed now is to convert this support into something concrete.

I believe that's what happened at Cadeside. I was told it was once a much bigger site but for some reason the fac block was flattened and a big chunk of the site became a fenced LV storage compound. Now only 16 pitches are in use.
It's a superb little site too and often full due to its proximity to the M5 which makes it a good place to break a journey. It's dearer than most non fac sites but still fills up.

C&MC just need to cater for all tastes to ensure it cover the full spectrum of users👍🏻

And that's fine...but the rate of SP development is a mile away from that of 'non EHU' pitch development....or non facs for that matter.
Some want less provided the club can keep the price a bit lower, however the option isn't there.
As TDA mentions, we may soon be paying more for an awning pitch or a HS AND upcoming electric surcharges..

You're making it sounds as it has to be paid for like energy increases, there is no we for a start and one only has to pay if you go to a club site, as often said by yourself and many others there are many cheaper campsites out there.
If you don't want to pay club prices for a HS and any electric increase use somewhere that won't charge as much?
I thought it might be paying less for grass btw?

Which I think they are doing and, as I posted before, they have the resources to establish just what the members require.

What a shame that Harry's thread has now degenerated into a silly game of likes which are meaningless in the context they are being used.
I have already expressed my support up thread so I do not see my like as out of context at all.

And a point I raised earlier, what exactly is a basic facility site? Is it a non facility site with/without EHU? Or just not having SP, glamping...
Reading harry's OP again it appears cost maybe the one true determining factor?
PS just noticed your addition, so basic means non facilities? Ok well plenty of sites that do not have them are still in £25 to above £30+ price range.

I have just had a look at the C&CC forum and I cannot find a singel thread discussing low facility sites. I don't think they have any at all but my guess is that because they offer a far wider choice of pitch types on their sites members feel there is no need?

Maybe but the exchange with Arch was regarding SPs, not standard pitches.

See yours as you wish, PD, but I wasn't pointing the finger at any one person. I was commenting on the silliness. I'm surprised you feel you need to defend your 'like'.

Again we now have a new term, low facility site is this what harry means by basic facility site?
So (you know what's coming here) if the CCC appear to offer what harry and others are after why not use them? Why does it have to be under the banner of the club? What does the club banner have that others don't? (I know the answer or me btw but I'm prepared/happy/feel they give VFM... to pay to be under it).

The Club's model is grass or hard standing with EHU. If there was no EHU the site woudl be off grid which the Club does not have.

Why wait for the price to be lowered BB, why not start a movement based on a civic attitude & even better a save the planet attitude. You have rightly vaunted the use of own generated power now go the extra step by actually showing how committed to this non grid way you are👍🏻🙅🏼♂️🎊🎉🪄

.....except at Steamer Quay. I think you forgot that one again.

Sorry for the long winded post but the OP caught my attention and I thought I might share my experiences
I bought my first caravan in 1984 - it was very basic with a foot pump for water and gas lights - we used farmers fields back then and had no need for EHU - we weren’t member of any clubs
Mid 90s we joined CC and C&CC and used CLs with our first deluxe all singing and dancing twin axle. We had 3 kids and EHU was essential. We all loved CLs even the kids. When the kids flew the nest the 2 of us continued to enjoy CLs until 2015 in various caravans.
2019 we bought our 1st motorhome and for the first time ever tried club sites for the convenience of walking instead of driving into locations. After many years staying on farms we found them not to our liking I’m afraid - too much like static caravan sites or holiday parks - and the prices!
In all our years vanning we never needed facilities bar the EHU, tap and CP but in recent years CLs with EHU are becoming very expensive and difficult to find space due to increased popularity so I’ve now added an inverter, gas tank and additional solar so we can take advantage of off grid CLs which are not as busy
We recently did 11 nights off grid using solar and £11 of gas (mainly for the fridge) despite the hot weather and paid £5 per night for pitches. We still showered, watched tv, used coffee machine and microwave so definitely not slumming it.
I was sceptical spending the money on off grid equipment but now convinced it will pay back in droves and we have as much space around us as we want
If we still had a caravan we would want fully serviced pitches where possible but now with a fully equipped Moho all we want is somewhere to park with a tap and CP when necessary
I think everyone has different needs and many like shower blocks and serviced hard standings but for me especially with the increased glamping expansion it’s moving away from the club I joined years ago - more Haven than CC now
I’m increasingly looking for alternative places to stay not connected to CAMC and considering lapsing my membership

It does as if people are going to ask the club for something then it has to be clear. a basic site to me is no EHU, no facilities. Not what the OP is after?

Early on in this thread Black Knowl was used as an example of a SP at £48.10. So is it possible to get the New Forest Black Knowl experience at a Basic pitch cost and the answer is Yes, Camping in the Forest run the Aldridge Hill site, which is on the same approach road as Black Knowl. This site doesn't have a toilet block or a shower block, there are no set pitches and you even get to share your stay with the New Forest horses, ponies and cows as they are free to roam the site. So how much per night does this basic site cost in High Season, which the BK cost was and its £27, for 2 adults and 2 children. Not the low cost which some people are saying basic pitches should.
My conclusion from this that the pitch price does reflect the facilities being offered but location, location, location also has a big impact.
Let's just accept that there are many ways to enjoy our hobby of touring and that the only right way to tour is the way that's right for you.

The club leases the site, as I understand it, just as they lease many others such as racecourse sites.
