Can no longer afford

We have been using this site since the 1980s a all-time of the year but this is the first time we have and others we know who use this site noted just how quiet it is and was the same last weekend
Very few (it seems) families mostly couples and grandparents with children

As said elsewhere we're not in receipt of emails, just one to date, so are spared the holiday suggestions. But it's probably going to reap a few takers. I agree about the NF but some seem to love it?!
On the other hand, like the C&Cc tactics, a few special offers might work....

Ditto with the emails...a well known (especially with signed up emails) marketing strategy which will draw in a percentage of recipients. The Club ?? has a captive audience for these marketing emails...although I'm not privy to the number of members who have ticked the email preference box..

+1 my sentiments entirely

That doesn’t seem much of an offer. I thought it seemed a lot compared to what we just paid at Poolsbrook, (although they are totally different sites) so had a look. I can only get 43.20 for a standard pitch and £48.10 for a service pitch.
edit
That figure would be correct if you included two children.

Must admit I didn't look at it in detail as it seemed massively more expensive than the £28 a night we paid in early July last year. It does beg the question that if they seem to be personally tailoring the offers that they don't realise that we have for the past 28 years only gone away as a couple!!!

Feeling left out as no-one has invited me to take up an offer, well none I can talk about on here anyway.
Just so I didn't miss out on rejecting said offer I looked at Chester site and decided I could save the £140+ for 3 nights and use it to pay for 1½ tyres for the car.
There, I feel better now.

The C&CC seem to be getting round staff shortages by employing what I think were students at one large site I stayed on a few weeks ago. There were at least two helping the site managers.
I found the New Forest site very sterile for the what is alternatively available there. Yes its a tidy site in the Club mold but not my cup of tea and I cannot see me using it again.

I thought I would dip my toe on a fairly local site for 4 nights this month. Checked Barnard Caste. Many spaces available for each remaining August week, all mid week. Cost 4 nights £162.42p, MH, 2 peopl over £40/night, standard pitch with electric. No chance! No wonder so much space.

Reading through these comments I thought I would just check availability at Moreton in Marsh site. We used to go there around 3 times each year, always once in September, for that month we always had to book months in advance to be able to get a pitch for a couple of weeks break. On checking I was very surprised to find there are still plenty of free nights, even at weekends. There still seem to be plenty of tourers on the roads so maybe prices are making members look elsewhere.

I suppose with today's news from the Bank of England about inflation and where it is heading, especially the RPI measure I imagine that is going to put even more pressure on campsite prices for next year. If prices for next year increase in line with inflation we could see increases of between 10 and 15 percent. That is really going to hurt!

It isn't going to hurt me as I have no intention of paying such silly prices for a patch of grass/gravel. Increasingly it seems that people are seeking cheaper alternatives or going 'over there' where they seem to know which side their bread is buttered when it comes to pricing. CAMC seem determined to pursue the law of diminishing returns.

One thing I have also noticed is that there is no 50% midweek discount after December 2022, nothing at all showing for 2023.
We will remain members, but only for the CLs; at one point we used main club sites quite a bit, but haven't used one since March now.
Must say that every cloud has a silver lining though: had it not been for, what I consider, expensive club site prices, we wouldn't have discovered some of the nice CLs we've stayed on. We had used CLs before, but not as much as in the last couple of years, so in that way CAMC has done us a favour!

Just checked Cayton Village site...The one that's just had a massive multi million £ refurb after purchase a couple of years ago...apart from the few grass pitches and the odd service/premium..all dates, all pitches are available throughout Aug/Sept...thats if, as a couple you are happy to pay £302.40 for a std pitch w/c 12-19 Aug...
Nearly forgot...as DK mentioned you can also spend £900 on a weeks Glamping Hol..

£52.10 for a night throughout August on a (do we really need these?) 'premium pitch'. I'd want a lot more than even butler service for that price.

What is the point of these Premium Pitches?
Why do we need a place to put a disposable BBQ? Some shops are banning their sale anyway.
Why do we need a picnic table and benches? Does anyone go away in caravan or MH without their own table and chairs?
Hedges between pitches......nice to have but not essential.
An ordinary serviced pitch would be the most we would ever use, though not at the prices the Club is charging these days!
I really cannot see us ever using a full facility Club site again.

I assume there research shows there is a demand for the premium pitches or they wouldn’t have included them in site revamps. We quite like club sites and will continue using them if they are in the right place. We will be using 10 on our September / October tour as well as C&CC sites and some private.

Yes, we like, or liked, Club sites too, always used to use them, but prices are now well beyond what we find to offer good value.
Who are they asking about what people want on a site? Certainly we have never been asked. We now find better value on smaller private sites, and, of course, CLs. Using CLs is the only reason we remain members.
Would be interesting to see what research has been done, and whether those who have been asked really represent members as a whole.
For us, the site is only a base, we do not spend a lot of time on site, so fancy facilities are not required, and certainly not these premium pitches!

The Club is going back to it’s roots. Touring for those with money.

If you can't see the point then there is no point and they won't appeal and therefore you won't use them.
For me I can see the point and simply they enhance my time away. Or I can't see the point of using anything else but it's everyone's choice and I wouldn't deem to say otherwise.
From what I've seen actually on sites they are very Popular

It was disconcerting to see a post by warden JK that the handbook is no longer to be published. If this is the case it could have a significant impact on CLs and members ability to book them. Since a significant proportion of posters have indicated that the CL network is the only thing keeping them members, could this latest 'alleged' development mean an exodus is likely?
If so, CAMC is going to change substantially from its original purpose. The idea of a basic provision, either by club sites or CLs, of pitches for members is being ditched in favour of up-market and more expensive/profitable products.
