Yes FB. Apparently bookings after a certain late date in June 23 are all on hold. It’s to do with the deposit scheme coming online. That’s been delayed twice already now, so now no one can book for next year, after late June. Your guess is as good as everyone else’s as to when things will be allowed. I will try and link you to a thread explaining more 👍

Page 9 of this thread, Rowena’s post, includes another link. Best information is that something will be happening in the next few months 🤷♀️

It's a poor show for the club to be incapable of introducing a booking system with deposits. So many small businesses do it all over the world by using off the peg software. Any medium-sized company has an IT facility with competence for such a task. Why is the management unable to deal with this? If the competence is not there, get some!

I seem to recall someone suggesting they had bought a package used elsewhere in the hospitality industry, but we’re having issues adapting it to requirements🤔 But it’s a long time ago, and I could be wrong. It’ll all get sorted at some point no doubt.

I care not JV.
Incidentally, the price of strawberries and cream at Wimbledon has remained the same since 2010. Wouldn’t it have been nice if the Club Site pitch prices were as they were in 2010😁

R2b posted somewhere the other day that it could well be the current financial situation may have done the job that deposits were designed to do in stopping speculative bookings. I think he made a good point and perhaps the club thinks so too so perhaps they’ll cancel the whole scheme 🙂🤷🏻♂️

Or better still stay with the current system with its USP and flexibility. I believe that the prices being charged will also have a detrimental effect on the "clubs" P&L sheets going forward. Recently we had 3 nights on a private site with facilities etc of equal standard of the CMC @£94.00 that was followed by 3 nights at a CMC site @£152 ,a not insignificant increase.

I thought they did buy an off the shelf solution which was originally used for the Overseas Sites operation. Don't think I have heard they have had problems with that element of the system. The problem of course is that UK campsites will take up far more bandwidth especially as they are allowing pitch surface choice. There must be a serious problem as there seems, as yet, no end in sight? Rather ironically the C&CC booking system offers everything the new CMC system will offer but seems to work perfectly well.

A bit like the bespoke forum software? 😂😂😂

It’s not unusual and it’s not incompetent management. There are many other travel companies which don’t offer bookings so far ahead. For instance train journeys on Eurostar trains from London St Pancras are only available six months in advance.

Wishful thinking jvb. Not going to happen

Nail on head there Brue.
During the initial training sessions we as site staff along with EGH staff were able to identify some potential operational issues which are being sorted. We've had a lot of in depth training since those first sessions which have been well delivered and received, most of us are now pretty confident. In roughly a week we get to start sandpit training alongside the current system, so it won't be long before all change (we have a date, don't ask!)

When are the managers in charge of this change going to wake up and see for whatever reason the the market has changed and demand for pitches significantly reduced on 3 usually very popular I've stayed at since May they are only running at 50/60% capacity and still available to book all through August, to bring in a change now that will probably reduce bookings is shooting themselves in the foot.

Why all this booking so far ahead anyway? Are CAMC members particularly afflicted with FOMO?

No I don't either but I sympathise with anyone who needs to book ahead for family or special events etc. and prefer to use a club site. I expect many booked pitches near the Birmingham Commonwealth Games a year ahead, no doubt there are other events next year which will need early bookings.
Official CAMC updates would be helpful.
Fingers crossed for the new system, I'm glad to hear it is being well trialled first.

Rather than relying on "Members feedback over a period of time" and "Focus Groups" why did the club management not just conduct a simple poll of members views on the subject.
Do you want us to introduce deposits : YES or NO
Personally, to free up pitches, I would have preferred limiting people to having up to say 3 bookings outstanding at any given time with the option to add additional extra ones in a three week period from the date of booking.
That way people would book stays early that were really important as part of their three and top up as the year progresses.

And what would those people like me who book 7-10 sites as part of a tour do?
You've not thought this through, Chelty. In any case, it’s too late now as it’s a done deal. We debated all the various permutations way back the line and nothing came of the suggestions made as the club had already made the decision. In fact you posted similarly last December when I made some points about voting and the club's governance.
