It has been in this thread about more staff? Just hilighting the problems of recruitment at this time

The real problem is finding folk of the right calibre and quality. I’m sure with fuel prices as they are only folk living pretty much next to a site will find it attractive and then only if the hours, hourly rate, working conditions and promotion prospects are conducive. Many of those who were in the leisure industry, and very good at it may I add, have left this island! Not that many were in this particular ‘field’. But recruitment in rural areas now is a considerable challenge I’d think!

That is always the point with HR recruitment, Micky, finding the right people for the job. I’m sure the club will employ staff qualified to CIPD levels or beyond and they will know and understand the issues involved in recruitment rather than relying on hearsay from folk met down the pub.

Can you clarify why you refer to potential staff living locally? Wardens live on site so travel costs aren’t really an issue and, yes, they are often from the region in which they are based but don’t need to be. Were you maybe thinking of the club employing local folk on a part time basis to perhaps clean the facility blocks and cut the grass, for example, which would release the site managers to deal with those arriving early?

Yes, hence my partime/adhoc/single person comments. No way can a full time couple be cost effective to meet the needs of a few arriving a few hours before the current arrival hour rule. Even finding those Saturday girls, paper boys or pot washers to transfer their skills and do a job in rural areas will be almost impossible I’d think. Many apologies for those outdated and political incorrect notions but really, employing folk these days is not as easy as yesteryear! Rightly so me thinks! Although those who have subsequently been forced to leave our shores were very much valued in my opinion!

I see, although I thought you dismissed that idea saying it wouldn’t work. The thought does have merits possibly worth investigating.

I’ll just correct one comment - employing the right staff was never easy which is why HR recruitment staff (should) undergo specialist training to obtain the right result.

Yes, themselves, and have a proper grasp of the challenges and constraints!  As for If it would work or not this  is very much down to getting things right! It’s all about at what cost. Now there is the real challenge! Right is a very elusive concept and I’m not convinced that can be squared to everyone’s or even the majority of us members, satisfaction!

Work or not, Micky, it doesn’t address the root cause of the problem - people ignoring the earliest arrival time .

No matter how many staff you have carrying out various tasks, there will still be congestion if no pitches are available for early arrivals.

I think the crux of the matter is to find a way of dealing with the 'offenders' in a way sufficiently effective to stop them repeating the practice.

Absolutely Rocky, Forgive me, but I’m not as eloquent as I’d wish but the solution to this conundrum is really not easy as some suggest.  There are so many more complex and interrelated issues here than just moving times or chucking extra staff or money at it. The lack of understanding of this issue  amongst some astounds me! You are right, just keep turning them away. Mind you, I’d put money on being able to gain early access by folk buying the privilege, just mark my words, it’ll probably come, sadly! Thing is will it apply to those arriving a few hours earlier or 5, 10 minutes earlier than the stipulated time! Still they will come! The same arguments will rumble! Let’s see if it doesn’t!

    I'll take it as a compliment😊

Yep, wait and see. I doubt anyone in CAMC will take any notice of our thoughts anyway🤷🏻‍♂️

Nothing any one has said has convinced me than 5 units arriving at 11.00 am would not find 5 empty spaces.

It would depend on the site and what condition pitches were in undecided

And on sites where the office is closed?

So what has convinced you that this you are correct? You claim to never use club sites so I'm puzzled as to what you're basing this on or why you want the change? Can you absolutely guarantee it? Every single time?

But it's pointless, the club has set out its arrival time, if that time doesn't suit  anyone then as you have said plenty of other sites out there? But apart from CLs how many comparable sites have arrivals at any time? You're making it sound as if the club is the only one which such times?

I'm not convinced this is a major problem but if it is CAMC could add to the booking information please don't arrive before stated time.

On all site bookings access statements are provided this provides a clue to the limited arrival and parking spaces on each site.

I note CAMC concentrate on reminding people about cancellations which is probably still the major issue. Site managers can turn away early arrivals, if this becomes the norm it might help but I generally think all arrivals should be dealt with at the site manager's discretion to avoid disruption to their working day.

It's  probably just as disruptive when people arrive very late, just a thought for those with long working days!

Well this thread has gone full circle I see.

The problem is still the same be it a 12.00 or 13.00 arrival time, some folk will still push the boundaries.

How to prevent it, get the message out there to every member, make sure on the booking confirmation it clearly says in BOLD  and maybe red letters what the arrival time is and state early arrivals will be turned away. Repeat offenders will have future bookings cancelled.

Maybe a bit hard-line for some but if it is a major problem as some say it is (we rarely arrive until mid afternoon) then stop pussy footing around it and deal with it.

Once pitch type is introduced it may well solve the problem 🤔

Several sites now employ grounds persons  to help out on busy sites  but it seems to be at the expense of assistant manager couples

A couple of sites  may stil have contractors to clean the facilities ,but it was not working at Hillhead last time we stayed as the site staff had at times to leave what else they were doing as contractors staff were.not arriving or late

And as for employing locals how many days would that be for and how would it be rostered it all sounds so simple untill trying to get it to work

Maybe they'd arrived using public transport & had the option of arriving a little early or really late ....

We really don’t know do we! What we do know is that 1pm is the earliest arrival time on the vast majority of club sites!

I'm not sure what your point is here with this?

However slick and sophisticated the booking system can be or is, even as you suggest, will it ensure people won't arrive earlier than 1pm? Which is what this thread is about?

Have you posted in the wrong thread?

Not really, why? On sites where there isn't a lot of choices, ie all HS and all awning there are still people who arrive early. And really you didn't mention any of that in your post:

I was also able to view all the available rooms in my chosen category and hotel, seeing about 15 pictures of each and a video

So you didn't really book a specific room just a category. Just like the club now and even more refined when the new system comes into play.

Btw did you really think that seeing 15 different pictures of a club pitch (and a video) is either needed (the site plan does that) and will mean people won't arrive early?

And how will payment methods ...payment method, including cancellation near as just two hours before my chosen arrival time. I chose 24 hours and payment on arrival, no deposit and left my CC detail... will also help or ensure that also don't arrive early.

Again to pay before arrival is also coming into play with the club so you'll be happy

I'm sure you'll try and justify somehow but I really think you posted in the wrong threadsmile
