If folks are arriving early at a Site, (clearly they are according to PD’s latest post) are they asked to go away, or simply left to queue up? Does it vary from Site to Site?

TDA. People who like to arrive on time often arrive together so this is a familiar sight at 1pm. I've no problems with anyone choosing to arrive for 1pm or even a short while earlier but on some sites it can be quite a queue and very early arrivals are unnecessary, everyone gets on to the site  reasonably quickly. I don't think it's a problem for us as site users but it's more of an access problem on some sites. The few who might get there very early in the hope of an early pitch can be sorted at the manager's discretion. Early arrival doesn't mean "best pitch."

We were last to arrive on a site one August Bank Holiday, we had a lovely sea view pitch when the last one out left late!

At Commons Wood they are met with a notice telling them earliest arrival 1300 if earlier please leave and return at 1309 or later(or words very similar)

At FM if staff are available they are let in the first barrier to wait until near 1300 as they will block the footpath and Ham lane if not ,and the site gets a call from their landlord if so

We travel down the A30 to Cornwall almost every month. There are dozens of very long lay-bys, set back from the road and only rarely will you see HGVs in them, at least when we travel through (8 to 9 am). Ample opportunity for caravans and MHs  to stop off, which many, many do. smile

Exactly why I posted the comment, M.👍🏻

There is plenty of scope for LVs to pass away a couple of hours or so.

A bit late for LVs travelling overnight when the HGVs have left for their first deliveries to beat the holiday maker rushlaughing

Presently on a CL near Moreton in Marsh, passed the entrance to the Club site at 12.27, 4 cars+ caravans in entrance, last one barely clear of the road.

First one was attempting to make a U turn at barrier, warden in hi-vis assisting last one to reverse a bit......either onto road or just to get room to turn.........so 1pm arrival time is being ignored and offenders are being sent away.

We passed 2-3 empty lay-bys within 6 miles on our way north on the A44, and met 2 more outfits heading south, possibly to the site.

I don't understand. If you're travelling down overnight, which I understand many do, and you're aiming for a 1pm arrival time how can that be too late? When was the last time you travelled down that way? Did you actually witness all these HGVs commandeering the lay-bys? undecided

Um ... but you just said 8 to 9 am was "A bit late for LVs travelling overnight when the HGVs have left for their first deliveries to beat the holiday maker rush"

So how come the HGV was still there "mid morning"? undecided

That'd be 3 years ago then, not 2? An easy mistake to make! (But a bit embarrassing when you've just mentioned getting facts right")  laughing

Exactly, if the HGVs have left by then for their first deliveries (you did say that didn't you?) what are they still doing there mid morning? undecided

Edit - I specifically said 8 to 9 am. As you said - Always pays to read posts carefully before replying! laughing

Its is a shame that this thread has been turned into an attempt by some to score points and not reading their own and others posts before the attempt

Maybe they will realise if they read their own posts and then properly read my posts there is not one  time when I have said anything but shown how they are as happens not reading posts correctly

But then of couse as posted by others that when some are in the wrong  others who also hate to be in the wrong jump in ,to without any success ttry to make it worse with their own childish  posts

And even though I know this post will be reported by those very same postersyell
