Hoopoes on the campsite!
We’re at Camping L’Amfora, arrived yesterday. Amazed to see Hoopoes hanging round the pitches, along with the usual suspects, picking up crumbs.
Campsite reception informed that there was an ongoing project in the area, with nest boxes being put up on suitable spots on campsites all along the coast, and has been very successful.

There is a pied blackbird on the site we are on at present, not seen one of those in a while. Spotted a hedgehog our for an evening stroll last night and heard a couple of Little Owls too.

Know where I will be going Tuesday when I get home, and it won’t be going to storage yard to wash the van. All roads will lead to Trimmingham. Amazing really as it was just about the same time last year about 9 bee-eaters showed up in Yarmouth. Makes you wonder if they are the same birds

Saw 4 of the Bee eaters this morning, beautiful birds. Birds are nesting about 200 yards from the viewing point. The temporary RSPB is well organised with a one way system, plenty of parking and toilet facility. Lots of staff keeping things running smoothly. The viewing point is about 200 yards from the car park along an uneven grass track

Good to hear you saw them OneP. They are indeed beautiful birds with their distinctive chirrup.
Rollers in Cornwall, Bee-Eaters in Norfolk, Black Winged Stilts in Yorkshire, Cattle Egrets all over the place. Things are certainly taking on a continental flavour.

Had 2 male Golden Orioles flying around our field and then a parent Kestrel female flying around with 2 young Kestrels and a Broad Bodied Yellow Underwing female moth on my car bonnet all in the space of 1 hour lovely to see and a yellow theme what is next.
Great photos Oneputt will have to go down by the river Lot or Cele to see Kingfishers and that was the name of our last place in Somerset and I forgot to bring the name board with me as a friends daughter did it for us as she was good at art heyho but do have some photos of it.

Saw a Hummingbird Hawk Moth yesterday, at local Nursery. Haven5 seen one for a while, always interesting.

Local birds today. Lots of Bluetit hatchlings on the feeders, counted 8 at one point. Young swallows being fed on the telegraph wire. Most odd, our weather vane had a lightning hit! It has left a bare shining steel patch surrounded by soot! Glad none of us were nearby.

Didn't set out to specifically look for birds today but we managed to see a magnificent Goshawk flying just above the tree canopy at Mount Grace Priory today. Fascinating as a couple of minutes later we also saw a Sparrowhawk and the difference in size was quite marked.
Having coffee we saw a Spotted Flycatcher going about its business of catching flies.

Yesterday when out walking by the site I heard what I took to be a shepherd whistling his sheep dog rounding up sheep, although it seemed to be coming from different directions. I turned out to be Red Kite, being harassed by a couple of crows.

Second Attempt
Took delivery today of a stock of wild bird foods ~~ darn nearly gave myself a hernia getting it all into the workshop ( shed ) and thence into relative storage tubs. Having done that I decided to clean and refill all the feeders as well as the bird bath. To recover, I had a light lunch and watched some Wimbledon as well as Tour de F but found that a load of cobbles.
Gentle snooze to avoid watching Evening News then went for a stroll round the estate
but truly, the only things I saw were a series of empty bird feeders and a Half Dozen or so chubby little starling chicks snoozing on my workshop roof.Oh, there are times .............

Good day out today. Lots of Red Kites, Buzzards and Ravens seen our morning walk then after lunch we parked up with a view of the Osprey's nest at Llyn Clwyedog where we could see the parents flying round and perched up on the camera post, and also see at least one of the chicks exercising it's wings. I could really have done with a high powered telescope to get a better view, but made do with my bins.

Visited the WWT Steart Marshes this afternoon, not much about apart from a group of 7 Heron's on one of the islands and a lone Shelduck.
However walking back we were lucky to get some great views of a Male Marsh Harrier and then a Kestrel just by the car park.

We visited a couple of small nature reserves close to Welshpool today. As well as the usual Buzzards and Red Kites we saw a couple of Little Egrets and one Great White Egret, a Great Crested Grebe with a couple chicks, Lapwings, Sand Martins, numerous Grey Herons, Reed Warblers, and a Little Ringed Plover. There were lots of butterflies including Comma, but most wouldn't settling long enough to properly identify.During a walk along by the canal I spotted Roe Deer family, a Buck with a Doe and a Fawn feeding together.

Our cottage overlooked the River Rothay and when we opened our upstairs bedroom curtains this morning we saw 11 Red Breasted Mergansers floating around below us, some of them preening their feathers, some diving for fish, which was great to see as you could follow them as they chased the fish (and usually caught them). I assume some of them were juveniles as they all had the ginger crest. No adult males with them. We watched them for about 10 minutes before they disappeared upstream.

Drove over to Stanton Novers where 2 x Honey Buzzards have been spotted for the last few days. No luck for us although we did find out later we were in the wrong spot. The count for these lovely birds has now risen to 4. Another visit called for tomorrow.
Continued on to the coast, to Trimingham quarry to look in on the Bee eaters, saw 5 flying and perched on cables. Spoke to the RSPB information guy and he thinks there maybe 1 chick and possibly a second. Good news indeed but still a long way to go.

Saw this crawling along a compressed footpath - it was slim and about an inch long and appeared to have only 6 legs that I could see - the front ones quite short. It seemed to have 'antlers' . I've no idea what it was so if anyone has any ideas or maybe where to look on www I'd be grateful. I have emailed local butterfly/moth group as I thought it might be moth related but the site said may take some time to get back to queries

I saw one of those many years ago. It's a moth caterpillar but I've forgotten which one.

Rusty Tussock Moth. As a Moth it looks like it has eyes on the bottom of its wings👍🏻😊
