Just a quick question. I am hoping to travel through France down to the north of Spain next month. Will my 3 round pin UK standard plug fit the hook-ups in France and Spain, or do I need some kind of adapter?

Probably? Whilst lots of sites have been upgraded to the CEE17 standard there are likely to be sites still using the old two pin sockets for which you will need an adaptor. As above. In 20 years of visiting France we have needed the 2 pin fitting 4 or 5 times in total, but I'd not travel without a short conversion lead.
