Server Errors

Is there a problem with the site generally or is the problem confined to CT.? I haven’t booked a site in a while, but I’ve researched a few and been quoted for european breakdown cover (wow, expensive!). In all cases the website performed as it always has, ok. However, try and load anything from the CT discussion menu and it might load immediately 10% of the time, but more likely it’ll just hang indefinitely or take several minutes to load only to repeat the delay on the next key stroke. Watching a blue line can become a tad tedious!
Given this has been going on now for weeks (months?) it’s difficult to reach any other conclusion than they don’t care and/or have an incompetence problem.

Same here brue. The whole site seemed to be affected and still running very slowly. It doesn’t bode well for the introduction of this new booking system, if it’s going to happen. April is rapidly approaching. I’m certainly not keen on sites that are prone to hang up when trying to do a credit card transaction.

I was just wondering the same thing, wasn't it supposed to go live in April?

I haven't bothered with CT for a while now, but have tried to research CLs in the past 3-4 days. It's unbelievable how long pages take to load. First of all once a county is selected, plus the criteria (EHU, HS and that sort of thing) takes ages before a list of CLs appears. When clicking on a CL within the list, the wait is endless, so much so, that a few times I've had the message "Timed out". It beggars belief that this is still going on 6 weeks after this thread was started, but in reality it's been going on far longer than that. I feel sorry for the CL owners; I have tried to google individual CLs, to see if they have their own website, but while some have, quite a few more haven't. The SD is over a year old now, so not100% reliable as to whether a CL is still in the system, and as well as that, I do like to read reviews of CLs.
As SteveL said upthread, a website prone to freezing/sticking, call it what you like, is worrying when having to use it for financial transactions, as we will have to do before long when booking club sites.

Judging by the level of activity on here these days, I think it’s RIP CT.
When the only fervent discussion is about white pegs it’s probably time to call it a day. Maybe just have a social chat room instead for those so inclined with lots of time to kill waiting for content to load.

And off topic too at the moment, SB!!!

Perhaps the comments on here generally are too radical for CAMCs palate. Strangle it with poor connectivity and you have Putinesque censorship.

That’s quite a conspiracy theory GT, but wither on the vine is as good as any other. However, if anybody else you paid a subscription to to provide a service didn’t sort it out or communicate with you after several weeks or longer, you might rightly form the opinion that they couldn’t care less about you or their obligations.

I don't imagine many members pay their subscriptions with the main purpose of using Club Together? People pay their subs to use the Club sites and perhaps the other services offered by the Club. In the scheme of things CT is a peripheral nice to have? We all know there are major changes going on with the Club's booking system which no doubt is impacting on the online systems across the board. Be that server power/space or staffing limitations. What should the Club concentrate on the new booking system which will impact on the majority of members or CT which probably impact on a minority? None of us know whether the choice is that black and white but if it is I for one would suggest the main web site is the important one to get right, at least first?
Having said all that I have found CT reasonably OK yesterday and today. Sometimes its slow and I just leave the little CMC whirly bit going and go off and look at other things, when it settles down I go back to it.

These problems pre-date some of the IT changes that are presumably currently underway, but your reply sort of misses my point. CMC probably appreciates customers who are very patient, forgiving and happy to be kept in the dark. If the Club offers a range of services in return for a fee, it should consistently offer all of them, not just some.

I have to say I find your expectation of this site very different to mine and I think many others. This site is not fit for purpose as far as I am concerned. I have had times when I have been unable to book on line, alter a booking on line, search out a C L on line . If I can't access C T that isn't the end of the world to me, annoying yes, but I do expect to be able to organise my holidays, the very purpose of us joining the Club.

I think I was probably agreeing with you? Of course the priority should be getting the main website right, which I think is what I said. I was just pointing out that the main website/booking system should have priority over Club Together the forum. However when you read some of the posts on the subject some seem to be giving CT too high a priority in the scheme of things. It works after a fashion but I think we all know that the Forum Software is well past its sell by date, if it ever was within sell by date, which is probably causing many problems of compatibility. Some suggest that CT is being allowed to wither on the vine but I don't think that is the case, it is more about priorities which first and foremost I imagine the new booking system to be?

David, I admire your loyalty to the Club, but fact is after all this time and persistent negative feedback they should be getting it right by now. There is no point in taking a few hours fleeting improvement as evidence of a solution been put in place. I obviously don’t think CT is the most important aspect, but it’s part of the membership package and it should work. It clearly doesn’t, witness the countless number of members who have taken the trouble here to tell them!

I suspect when the new booking system comes on line there will be many members who don't usually use the forum wanting to express opinions, ask questions, complain etc and I'll be interested to see if this section of the web site holds up under pressure. By the way it's working ok just now but as usual not reliable and anyone with a frustration over the pending "new system" will be even more frustrated when they try the CAMC forum for the first time!

When I found it was working well this morning i thought it was an April's fool joke, but it still appears to be fine tonight

Have just this minute got the dreaded server error message, so it's no longer fine tonight, although perhaps a bit faster in sending out the error message.

In the absence of any information, unfortunately we can only guess. It might just be random chance, or someone might have actually done something. A little note on here stating, you will hopefully start to notice some improvements would be nice, if that is indeed the case.
If they are releasing this new booking system anytime soon, I would have thought IT would be working weekends.1 -
I agree with you. It is much better today, but 1 swallow and all that….🤞
