Isn’t it a bit sad when we are excited because they managed to bat out a draw

Very sad indeed, Roger cry  But I have to admit that  it's mainly the same old  names that get the rosettes and plaudits, alas.

One good thing that could come out of this disastrous series is that hopefully we won’t see Rory Burns opening the batting in a test match again, second innings excepted. I’ve watched an awful lot of cricket and a lot of awful cricket  in my nearly 78 years on this earth, but I can’t recall ever seeing an opening batsman in a Test Match get run out in the second over with 2 runs on the board. Surely Burns must have realised that this was his last chance to redeem himself, and that his job was to knuckle down, play himself in and try to craft an innings.

The bowlers are busting a gut to help this team salvage something, they’ve had a good start in both innings, but they’re being let down by the so called batsmen.

Cricket needs a root and branch sort out, and yes I did intend the pun.

Rant over, I’m off to the JSS to get frozen to the marrow watching a team with some real spirit,  currently punching above their weight

Well, result from JSS no worse than t'Alex Roger at least as far as the result goes  wink

Alas the crikit is living up to  { MY } expectations 104 ~~ 5 with an hour to go till Close of Play

    Dammit  107 -- 6 !!

Chance of the Extra Half Hour being taken if another pair of berks are out  !!

At least that will allow Brian to sleep perchance NOT to dream !!

{ As far as Burns &  several others are concerned maybe we will see them regularly out on the Green Sward at the start of play in England  --  only as junior ground staff of course  !

ARRRRGGGGHHHH !!   107 -- 7 ( Icebergs in my coffee fit to sink the Titanic   cry  )

Snivel, snivel, sob, sob, sob  --  Standard performance from England & Wales Test Team !

Two wickets gone before I could get back on !

    123 -- 9

and now it's all over in three days

    124  all out

first wicket went at 68 ( Tea Interval )  and 56 runs later all participants loading their cases etc for the trip home.

    Sickening !!

The result from the JSS was better than I expected . However it was true to form, go in front early then get 10 men behind the ball and ship a late goal and throw away two points

Breaking news from ECB ...... Novak Djokovic to become English batting coach. A spokesman said "we know he isn't from our sport but it did take the Australians 10 days to get him out ". 😁😁.

Glad somebody can find something to laugh about in this unmitigated sporting disaster.

Have heard that several squad members inc Root & Anderson, were having a noisy drink yesterday late evening and it took a visit from Aussie Police to shoo them back into their bedrooms,  finding a bit of "sticktion" very late in the tour !!

I see the ladies followed the men’s example in their first T20 and the much vaunted men’ s crash bang wallop team did their best to keep to the script in their first match.

I can’t think why but I’ve got an alert on my phone for updates in the men’s games and the thing was beeping like a demented doorbell, was it on Friday?

They did  manage to redeem themselves, just, yesterday

I saw in the paper the other day that Jason Roy had been fined by the ECB and banned for two matches. His offence was not disclosed but if it was for impersonating a test cricketer 😀 the ECB could well be looking at a few more fines after the pathetic performance in the latest innings.😱

Had my little Akai radio fully charged and my very comfortable " On Ear " headphones all set up and ready to go today. Listening to Crikit quite a lot whilst feeding the birds, topping up water etcetera. Then had to remove the 'hearing aids' while I drove thro Crewe to get my Spring Booster Jab. Quick turn round, then a short shop in Morrisons before returning home. Put on the tackle to find that the only real change was an increase of about TEN runs and Three wickets lost  surprisedyell.  Since I put the kit back on it has been shewn that the Tail really does wag better if folks are commenting on the gerry hat trick standard  of the batsmen (!) with acidic / sarcastic comments !

As commented on some months / years ago  I guess that the team Management ( HA-HA ) will be thinking of which three bowlers to drop and which batsmen to promote up the order for the next matches against New Zealand in Summer.

Jack Leach to the rescue again. Do I remember him scoring 90 odd in a famous rearguard action a few years ago?

Indeed, Roger,  I suppose they would like to move J.L. lower down the order to reduce any pressure on the batsmen ( undecided ),  but Honourable old goat that I am, such thoughts are below my pay grade !!

Well at least I will be spending Sunday On my knees, praying but FOR rain this time !!

An appalling performance by in the main, a fully deserving team sitting at the bottom of the World Test Match Table or so I believe

Indeed , had the squad any principles then they would have declared before close of play. That would have given WI a simple few runs to get today thus allowing the teams as well as the pitch, a Days rest before England get laughed off the islands.

Leach has { allegedly } nicked one and that's our lot as well as Root's !!.

Now It's a case for  the bowlers to say their good-byes

We may never see their like again.

Trellis,  I've been close to tears many a time over sport in it's many forms but I've just heard the giving of awards etc for the W I Tour & if they as thoroughly defeated players cannot apologise then, sadly, there is no hope for 'em at all.

Even the captain, on whose shoulders it all sits, could not see where it has gone wrong then surely by next week-end the E & W Cricket Board must bite the bullet very hard.

Now What Are The Odds On  THAT  ??

That’s a thought Brian but I detect a flaw, we don’t have anyone who fits the description of “batsman” lower down the order.

My fat finger mistyped “order” and got “ dire” that’s spooky 👻👻

The only thing the vast majority of this team should be awarded is their P 45's.., or loss of central contract....

Well done the ladies ! They were down and out at one point but turned it round to reach the final. Also well done Sophie Ecclestone a sixfer in a limited over match, brilliant .

I remember being at Headingley to watch England women against New Zealand in an ODI and when she was bowling you could hear Sarah Taylor keeping wicket encouraging her with “come on Katy” or good work Katy”

I left the ground puzzled because of course her name wasn’t Katy. It was sometime much later that I realised it wasn’t “Katy” but  “Cakey”. Ecclestone had become Eccles cake😀

    Taken me a while to realise why somebody is posting Happy Things on here, then realised that it's the Ladies making Roger smile and post happily.  So May Be there is real hope for fresh management teams to let Strauss go back into the dark areas { and Brian does not mean Richard Georg of that ilk  wink }
