Caen crossing

I usually go this route and exit from the port has always been quick and easy.  Now with Brexit and all the bureaucracy that entails has anyone any experience of what has changed eg checks on car & van , paperwork etc etc.before leaving port and if this is causing long delays..

We travelled that route mid January to attend a funeral. Not many cars never mind RVs or caravans.

Only checks we had was at Portsmouth, for form d'honneur and covid pass and PCR test etc. The customs at P'mouth checked every car though. But they did have a lot of time to do it.

Same thing coming back. No problems.

If everyone has their paperwork and necessary covid stuff then it doesn't add a great deal of time. Best to save your covid stuff as download though as wifi wasn't working at the booth. We printed everything off just in case.

Don't know when you are going so delays may be expected if at a busy time.

From 12th Feb, PCR or antigen tests no longer required for vaccinated passengers for entry into France.

Have been trough Caen a few times since the Brexit disaster. The checks at Caen are not hugely problematic. The main matter is to have all the necessary documentation ready for the passport control. Do not worry about the dairy/ meat produce issues, they dont check individual caravanners

A question to where next or anyone who knows.  Can you tell me how and where you give the infomation to the french authorities on having sufficient funds for your time in France.   We travel as free people no bookings with stay and go to decisions on the spot.  I can't believe you have to show them a handful of cash so what do they require?.  No one, even the Club, cannot seem to answer this question.

It’s an easy one to answer.  There are no questions or enquiries about your financial standing for tourists or holiday makers - only if you are applying for a long stay visa or for resident status.

    As ET says.

We weren't asked any such questions. We weren't even stopped in Caen and only saw 2 cars ahead of us pulled over for custom checks, one British and one French.
