New Site Booking System

Don't forget though Arch, that it will be done in date of booking order. Oldest bookings get the gravel.
Jk

If members chose to bury their heads in the sand then they only have themselves to blame. Bleating at the 11th hour will be a complete waste of time, it is already a done deal and I cannot see the Club doing any back pedalling at this late stage.

It works for Apple & Google, they’ve been doing it for yeas👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙂

Check it hasn’t been junked or you may have stopped mail. I’ve been receiving at least 1 per week👍🏻

Exactly some members will never believe in preplanning their leisure time, (the opportunity to cancel bookings is still part of the new up & coming system) .
These members will be the ones that shouted for deposits thinking it would magic up availability where previously none was available when they wanted it.
They are going to be mightily disappointed still, especially now it's basically been confirmed that the bookings made earlier get the H/S pitches on their preferred dates/site.
We've only booked one site in October so far, but knowing this information ref H/S allocated for the early bookers may well be the catalyst to pre book more & deal with cancellations or amendments at a later date.
Ps.
Deposits are just part of the bookings game now.

Well I have made 7 campsite bookings,(not all Club sites) 2 ferry crossings and one hotel booking all in the past 2 weeks. Just about got my year mapped out for the longer away stints.

Surely it’s a case of keeping members informed. They might be very happy with the changes but a heads up is never a bad idea. Not everyone has lots of time to spend searching out information. Certainly when I was working I had no interest in anything but making bookings, so a banner on the booking site would have been the only way I would have found out before implementation.

But how hard do you try? What ever did we do before the internet? I may not have read the magazine from cover to cover but the very least I did was to seek out news items when I led a much more busy life than today. Sorry I have little sympathy for those who don't help themselves.

What ever did we do before the internet?
But we do have the internet PD. At one time written communication wouldn’t have been commonplace and folk had to rely on the spoken word. Times change and whilst I agree that some don’t help themselves, there is nothing wrong with the club making it a bit easier for members to get information.
There is a link in the newsletter to website information and one was given in a thread, but there is nothing obvious in the menus to click on to get that information. If I was looking for new stuff I would click on news and events, then latest news. The last topic on that was about Wifi improvements posted on 29/12 going right back to September, there is nothing about the new booking system.0 -
If anyone is not receiving updates they need to go to their "My Profile" and then "Update communication preferences" follow the link and answer the security questions and then you can select the type of communications you want to receive. They seem to be set to automatically get them unless you opt out by ticking the boxes. Perhaps those not getting these communications should check out their profile?

I opted out originally but since I opted back for newsletters etc (probably a year ago) I haven't received any communications at all. Some of my preferences vary and I've just checked the list again and it's all still there but doesn't appear to work for me.

Agree JVB66, what news letter. Are we members of this club or not or is it just individuals who receive news letters.
I only found out about the changes when reading the January magazine and even that was on page 25.
For future reference, where would we get to see these news letters as it is not even highlighted under ‘NEWS’ or any other index in the magazine?

My question is answered thanks. But not happy if the club send via a system that only members who agree to emails.

I would be more upset getting emails that I didn’t want-choice is king👍🏻. If I get unsolicited mail I complain until they stop.

Just checked my profile preferences and guess what, all my boxes are unchecked to receive emails and yet, in over 10 years of membership, I am still waiting for my first.
Whoever is in charge of this system, are you reading this as I am not in the minority.

By the posts on here it seems it could well be that those who do receive them are in the minority I have just rechecked my preferences and there is no reason that I can see as to why I do not receive emails like news letters, any mors

One would have expected to read about any major changes such as this in our ‘News and Events’ section. However, if you look for the latest news, you will only find this posted on 29/12/2021 ‘Latest update on our Wi-Fi improvement project’ and the one prior to this dated 24/11/2021 ‘Sponsorship’.
Are the club trying to hide this change from as many members as possible in fear of losing them?

The club are steamrollering in these changes under the pretext that we want them, fully expecting the membership to roll over and accept them, I think a great number of the million members will be shocked when they do a booking post launch date.

I had a ride on a steamroller once.

At least he’s not one of those throwing themselves in front of it.😀

When you checked and saved the unchanged list, did you get an email saying you had updated your preferences? I just checked mine and didn’t make any changes but received an email. If you are not getting the update email, it may well have gone to spam with the rest of the newsletters etc.
