New Site Booking System

I don't think anyone knows that yet? Even now, before the changes, some busy sites will check your booking without getting out of your car/motorhome and ask you to go and find a pitch and return to reception to pay. Obviously in the future under the new system most will have paid the day before but will need to go back to reception to collect a barrier fob or perhaps a toilet key/code for the few sites that have that. I suppose it depends whether you have to return to reception immediately you have put the unit of the chosen pitch or whether you can fully set up before but I suspect the requirement will be to let reception know as soon as possible? One could imagine that in the future the site staff could scan your membership card and vehicle registration number and that would be it. Any security fobs could be handed out at the same time. Perhaps I am getting too far ahead of myself

Sadly the same queues are still going to be seen at official “site arrival” times. It might even be worse as even pre payers will be desperate to get either the perfect grass pitch, or the perfect HS pitch. I said earlier in thread that I thought I had seen plans for a “third Lane” into Site for new development at Lady Margaret Park.

Only two, third is to get out, then stop to return barrier card I suppose.

Quite a few sites do have an "arrivals" barrier lane and a "residents" barrier lane, makes sense. The barrier at LMP is quite a bit further into the site at present. Away from the congested arrivals area. Even so, the narrow access lane can get blocked by the rush hour arrivals queuing.

You can't really bypass checking in on any sites (except some CLs where everything is sorted beforehand) even on pre-paid sites like the C&CC system. Someone has to book you in, hand over site details, paperwork etc but you are spared going in to the office or going back to the office as someone keeps an eye on the pitch you have chosen and relays this to the office. After that the site office knows what is available. At present with CAMC it very much depends on people returning to the ofiice with their pitch number and often no-one marks up pitches which are available. Hopefully this system will be improved?

There won't be any bypassing the check in. Prepayment will just make it a bit swifter. If you just drove in how would we know who's on site and where and when? We are working on other ways to get everyone in in a timely fashion

It won't.

With the ccc system of taking the arrival to the pitch ,I would expect the pitch number to to be relayed to the office ,if they have security barriers ,the arrival still has to go and fetch a numbered barrier card/fob to get in and out ,,also site info,I have yet to be given such when shown to a pitch

Electronic receipts, maps, rules etc......would make sense. Save the odd tree as well. Some Sites print receipt onto a map reverse but not all. And I ‘ve lost count of how many Dog leaflets have been foisted upon us, despite explaining we always have one in MH.

One of the commercial sites I use you just pick up the paperworik off an arrivals board and go to your allocated pitch of the type you booked. This is clearly displayed on the front of the envelope. This is pretty much the same as the last C&CC site I was on except I was given the envelope at the barrier and taken to a pitching area to chose my pitch from those not in use.

Yet I expect we will have people moaning for years that they have been disenfranchised by it happening, like the moaning about booking more than one site for same dates.

It should work as the minimum spacing required between grass or HS pitches would be the same. Where that falls down is that more recently laid down HSs are much wider in our observation, and you are often asked to ensure everything is on the HS, nothing on the grass. Makes life easier for the wardens when cutting the grass.
So installing wider HSs means fewer pitches afterwards. Many HSs are on the small side for today's vans.

They certainly note your pitch number. So far all have had key pad barriers, so no need to collect a fob. Code was on the welcome info leaflet we were given on all sites. In most cases we have also been provided with site info and local information by the pitch guide. It probably depends on how busy they are.

Our experience too PD. Nobody seems to bother to lift groundsheets daily these days, and even on non awning pitches there are often groundsheets laid outside entrance doors, something which is very common abroad and results in bare muddy patches.

We have done this at one or two Club Sites. Our information was all in an envelope, including map showing potentially vacant pitches, when we rolled into Exeter. Pinned to reception door. Easy peasy. It’s the requirement for barriers on Sites that makes life difficult. A sign of the times sadly.

Yes, that’s the problem with being able/having to book a pitch type well ahead of the holiday. I doubt few would risk booking a grass pitch on an unknown site months in advance.

Yes before covid what that has to do with it? Not seen any any cc sites that Key. have to be put in buckets .of disinfectant I would hope as when we have stayed on cc sites that anything that is handled by others is cleaned before other have them

A move to ANPR at some point?
The commercial site we used last week had this.
The commercial site we are using at New Year has this.no barrier fobs, keys etc and with most commercials requiring a deposit, a balance payment and a pitch selection/allocation prior to arrival, there ain't a lot for reception to do....wave?
