New Site Booking System

It is all very well for people to suggest the Club should try other things before introducing deposits. The bad news as far as that is concerned is that they have already made up their minds that a deposit will be taken, so I suspect no going backwards?
Perhaps worth considering is that the new system does give the Club options for the future administration. The time period for refundable deposits could be extended to 31 days. They could in future demand the site fees to be paid in full at the cut off point for a refundable deposit. Not saying they will but the option is there as is the possibility of a larger deposit.

simply by extending the valid cancellation period out to 21 days, some of those (perhaps vocal ones...) who find it hard to take them up at short notice might have got a better deal on grabbing those missing days.
certainly something that could have been tried before going to the vast expense of 'all change'...
True it could have been tried. It had been suggested many times on here but I don't believe it would have made a great deal of difference especially to those like me who, on seeing a site full, curse silently and book elsewhere.

BTW, there are a couple of polls on a couple of unofficial CMC member Facebook pages. I thought this might be interesting on one vote so far. You may want to right click to open in a new tab.

I think a lot of members think it will free up pitches and it could well do but I do think along the same lines as SteveL a few posts ago, that with deposits the club will lose its USP and those free pitches may come from members choosing to go elsewhere to C&CC and Independents. We've certainly seen more activity on CLs this year but I think some of that may tail off when (hopefully) Covid issue dies down.
Only time will tell and if paying guests go down in 2023, when the first full year will be going then you may see a reversal of thinking as I can't see them reducing prices any time soon.

Why the big debate🤷🏻♂️ It’s a done deal-gum beating won’t change a thing. The old way had folk queueing up to condemn the sitting on pitches ‘selfishly’ thing, it’s time for a change obviously. Suck it & see👍🏻.
Btw, +1 Tinster👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻2 -
Good stuff, having just had a great weekend at a not fully booked Chatsworth I reckon this change is overdue, done deal crack on.
One question that I can't find the answer to. If the new system is introduced on 31 Mar for example, will all those with existing bookings post that date be asked to pay their deposits? That should free up some space and perhaps create a new discussion thread

We are in the couldn’t care less camp. Only downside for us will be if it has more folks using CLs.

From the FAQs on the new system.
“What if I have already made a booking, will you be asking for a deposit when the system is launched?
Existing bookings will be migrated onto the new system, meaning no deposit is payable and payment before arrival will not be an option.”3 -
Well, there’s nothing like a bit of controversy to persuade people to post. It’s a shame they don’t bother the rest of the time. 😕

Reading the AGM report in the latest magazine, it is not suprising there has been such difficulties that some have found with sites being busy
When we have had many members doing staycations and having 61000 new members ,that have joined,
I don't think deposits will have very much of a difference at most of the "honey pot sites" except a few may hold back with there bookings

Evening
Contrary to what some of the negative posters on this and other forums believe, it's not about cramming a pitch in every available space. The sites I've visited that have reduced pitches is down to creating more space where the bare minimum just didn't look right. Anyone who's been to my current site will know what spacious means
We've had another zoom meeting today with updates on the new system. Very positive and in my opinion a big step forward. The website and new app will be much more user friendly for us members. Can't say anymore.
Time for pork chops with my home made apple sauce

I’m afraid you’ll have to explain, SamRo, as I don’t understand "rsd" or the point you’re making in response to my general comment which followed on from your earlier post🤷🏻♂️

Grass pitches often shuffle a bit to give the grass chance to recover but the wardens will always ensure the correct spacing is maintained.

"....where grass pitches are lost when hardstands are installed"
You've never managed to explain this one properly despite being asked many times....

Some time back when booking types of pitches was a trail CAMC, as far as I can recall, said it was pulled due to confusion. I did not book a pitch on those trial sites so don’t know how that system operated to cause that confusion
If anyone has come by any info as to how the club are going to avoid the confusion problem again, especially as they plan to run 2 booking systems side by side for a while, it would be great if they could post on here. I have looked at the info and Q & A but seen nothing regarding this.
Just maybe this is one of the bits to be finalised but the sooner members are informed the less confusion there is likely to be for all.
All I can think of at this moment in time. For deposit paying members-coning off pitches and allowing them to choose their booked type on arrival, maybe even allocating pitch numbers at time of booking or taking you to a booked pitch type on arrival. Non-deposit paying members being allowed to choose on arrival from those that remain.
