We have no problem with paying a deposit, we had to do that when we joined the Club 39 years ago. The issue we have is if this new system is going live for the 2022 season where does it leave us with existing bookings for 2022? We always pitch on a hardstanding for various reasons but could now find that all the hardstandings are booked under the new system. Will we be given the choice on our current bookings to book a hardstanding or will we have to accept grass as they are all booked, remembering we have been encouraged to book 12 months ahead.

Not sure it’s mentioned anywhere , but what if you need to shorten your stay either at short notice or within the cancellation period. Would you still be penalised ?, or would the whole deposit be allocated to the shortened stay?

We need to wait for the fine detail, GG, and patience is needed.

Talking of spin, as Harry did, the whole package is full of it and has been spun towards doing what the members want. Really? I’ve not seen many on here saying it’s what they want other than those whom the current system does not suit. Has the club bowed to the wishes of those folks and ignored the rest of us?
I don’t have a problem with the proposals but a more upfront approach in explaining the business sense of bringing the booking system in line with the rest of the industry would have been more credible rather than telling us it’s what we wanted.

Let’s see how many new posters we can spot😃

I was thinking the same it said:
Why are you making these changes?
...Over the past few years we've been gathering your feedback all with the aim of understanding how you feel the current booking system could be improved...
Who provided feedback?
Members, Site Staff and Committee Members have all been involved in providing feedback:Over 100,000 new and longer-standing members we're invited to share their views over recent years
5 Focus Groups and 22 User Experience testing sessions have been held with members
All Site Staff (900) were surveyed and all Committee Members were consultedNow you would think that someone on CT would have been part of the first two? Ok I assume that they were sworn to secrecy (but that never really works) but would anyone like to own up now?
I can think of one possible member though...

Harry
One would hope we will now find a warden at the entrance, especially on bigger sites, fast tracking in members that have paid in advance with the advice to return to the office to give their pitch number and pick up the blipper for the barrier and toilet key if used? I just hope the saved time is not used to spend more time telling us how to pitch to the peg

They’ve really pushed the member feedback angle but I’m convinced it’s far from the whole story. We're not stupid and we know the club will have its own reasons for doing this.
I’ll let you work out the odds of someone here having been involved😀

It really isn't fair!
I've tried to think of a speculative booking that I should make for next year and I can't think of anywhere that I might want to be spending on a club site. That's not to say I won't be but I guess I'll just have to go with the flow and hopefully if the system does what it is supposed to do I'll be more able to find a pitch available.
That is if all of those people who will now be making speculative bookings to avoid having to pay a deposit haven't taken them. Then again as we're approaching December there isn't much of 2022 that hasn't already been accessible to speculative bookers is there?
Where's me CL directory???

Except that the deposits won't start till the new booking system kicks in and has any date been given? So you might have a few months of 2023 to book something?

Yes indeed, so the effects of this regarding reducing speculative booking won't be felt for quite some time?

That’s why there is a MWD because sites are quiet due to folk being at work so the club tries to entice others to fill the pitches.

That system you evisage could be "interesting?"on one couple and even two couple sites ,as those will only be one couple for several days
It the winter months even multi staffed sites could be down to one couple
so the busy w/ends Friday would still have queues

Once the new system starts, any booking after that date, be it in 2022, or 2023, will be subject to the new system. So, to avoid deposits, but not be able to choose your pitch type, you can book now, right up to December 2022. If you alter a booking after April 2022, it will be under new system. So, to guarantee a holiday, book ASAP. To guarantee a pitch type, wait until April 2022, in the hope that there will actually be any pitches left!
I think that’s how it works🤔
Chatsworth is out though. Every single weekend, every type of pitch, is now booked.

The only way it will be possible to end the queuing at the gates, is to allow booking of a specific pitch. That way, there is no need for the cavalry charge to get to a certain pitch on site, outfits can trickle in as they want, post noon/1pm, without a poor member of staff stuck out in all weathers dealing with queue.
I looked at the proposed new plans for Lady Margaret Park the other day, sure it had two lanes going in, but not certain🤔

A couple is two people. One in the office, and at peak arrival time the other one outside waving the pre paid visitors in.
