UK sites with metered electricity

With regards to your first paragraph, I am glad to see the club being pro-active and forward thinking with the provision of static accommodation. It’s clear the days of decent tow cars and MHs are numbered unless technology makes huge strides so the static accommodation could well be the future which enables the club to keep going.
There seems to currently be a demand for serviced pitches and if installed during a refurbishment, the additional cost to the club would be minimal and I suggest the returns on that outlay would quickly outstrip the cost involved.
The cost of installing metered hook ups has been declared by the club to be massive and it’s not just installation that has to be paid for but ongoing maintenance and operational outgoings. Then there are the legal implications and the rigmarole of complying - every hour spent filling in forms adds to staff costs and reflects on the end user, that’s you and I. The input required from a 5 van site such as Poole or CG is but a spot in the ocean compared with each club site, let alone the network as a whole.

It will be plain to see when an EV of hybrid is on charge. Would you risk being booted off the site by not paying a few quid? I wouldn’t.

I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't a fair number who will take the chance of not being found out, by hooking up over the hours of darkness.

Id like to think our members are better than that👍🏻

Really? in winter that might work, but most times you have to wait till it gets dark then get up before it gets light to hide all the evidence. Also wardens do walk around at night. But of course it would give rise to totally new thread titles on here to replace seeing awning heaters left on.
Well if what you say is true, which I doubt, that puts not opting for EHU out as well

If you don't need all the club offers then why do you keep using them so much and why be so focused with getting meters installed on club sites? I recall a previous post where you said that number of club sites for you was quite high? Why not use those simpler sites and where meters are more common?
Why are you so obsessed with my site usage Corners? Not for the first time either, it adds nothing to the discussion.

Just a thought, particularly for those with hybrid vehicles, which can be more realistically charged through the caravan. I know there is an additional charge because of posting on here. However, I have never noticed it advertised. As they are just plugging into the caravan, which they would do with any other appliance, some truly may not realise.

CPES a partner Company to the Club who already supply the Clubs bollards and no doubt other electrical items and services now have >this product< available.

Excellent PD, there’s an easy hassle free non bothering wardens kinda way to go👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Probably the easiest way to go about doing it, if they ever do. However, I think it would also require a machine on site for top ups, otherwise the site staff would be spending lots of time topping up cards. Alternatively it could be done via an app, but currently many aren’t using that sort of technology. Perhaps by the time the CC get round to it, you will just have to hold your phone to the meter to activate it and be charged for your use.🤔

If I have read it correctly you still have to add credit to the card before use? Pity they don't go a stage further and just allow a contactless credit card transaction direct to the bollard. I appreciate that would be more complicated in terms of WiFi/Mobile signal. Having a cars to which you add credit is fine if it doesn't involve needing to go to site reception to top up. Perhaps it can be done online?

Must admit I wouldn’t be over keen on just dabbing my credit card on the site post. Especially now it’s a £100 limit. Back pre covid, when we used to go to London, I much preferred to charge up a visitor Oyster card, rather than using my contactless credit card on the touch plates at stations.

There is a company that does such meters but as I understand it, it is only for landlord and single tenant relationships. They also provide the meters for a deposit but make other fixed charges In the case of the Club there would be multiple users of the same meter.
I don't think with such systems you get a refund of unused credit?

I saw this happen on Sunday (21st) ...but not by any wardens ...or anyone else as the EV covered the view of the outlet. Fully charged his EV from a designated outlet on his RV, hooked up and followed me off site. I assume he had arranged this 'charge' with the warden the day before....as we left site slightly before 'opening hours'.
Whilst we are discussing metered electric...I wonder what those members with awning heaters think of paying for electric. Couldn't help noticing over the weekend that two RV's had awning heaters...

I don't want to turn this into an ev thread but full ev users have already paid for Inc.electrcity then have to pay £7 more whilst adjusting van usage downwards. At least the other club recognise this state of affairs. You can't use more than the supply you've already paid for. Metering would solve any issues and ev users would still have to adjust van usage v charge usage.

I read further on the website. It can be done on credit card with refund of unused part.

Sounds the ideal system?

I'm not and other have posted on it as well. I would say it does add.
The thing you're posting daily on having meters on club sites but say you now don't need clubs sites, it just doesn't add up PD? If you used club sites a lot then it would make sense?

The pay as you go meter is just that and I expect they are inspected. C Grange read the meters when we stayed but I don't know if this has changed since their upgrade. Details will be on the CL site pages. If you were running a CL JVB you would no doubt factor all extra costs into the nightly charge otherwise you would make a loss.
Next year, when utility contracts get renewed we will no doubt see price rises on CAMC sites due to the very big rise in supply costs. Every user contributes to rising costs. We are on a dual fuel contract at home, we will see big rises when this comes to an end.

Looking at the condition that some "members" leave the toilet blocks in I wouldn't put it past some taking full advantage of "free" electricity to charge their vehicles, I'm sorry to say.

That sounds like an argument for provision of more non facility sites, Nellie😁

All for it, TW, with metered electric!.
