Over 65? Covid booster required for France
President Macron has just announced that from 15th December Over 65s will require proof of their Covid19 booster vaccination in order to access the Passe Sanitaire, otherwise testing will be required.
The Covid19 booster information does not appear in the NHS App - and this was their reply in response to a message:
"A domestic COVID Pass is generated for all users who have received a full course of an approved COVID vaccine - irrespective of whether or not they have received a booster vaccination. It is not necessary to demonstrate that you have received a booster dose as part of a domestic certification policy.
We are currently exploring whether and how boosters should be incorporated into the COVID Pass for Travel."
For anyone Over 65, and intending to travel to or through France after that date I would suggest you email the NHS team through the App itself, to ask when they intend to make this information available through the NHS App.

Doesn’t look like that’s been well planned! No doubt it will resolve over time, but bad luck if you get caught up in the interregnum

Further, ignore all the crap coming from NHS and HMG about numbers of peeps not taking the booster. Currently, jabs given by your GP are not registering with the NHS - so my wife and I are getting reminders direct from NHS to book for the booster, despite already having had it at our GP.
On that basis I would suggest that the chances of the booster registering in the app anytime soon are pretty small.

It has gone through onto both of our NHS GP records. I would assume it just requires some code being written so that the Covid travel pass searches for it when you request a travel pass QR code. That was certainly the case some months ago when I first generated one. It put up the message searching for your vaccination records. Hopefully they will provide an update to make it do that again and it will pick up the booster.

Lutz. In France it is 6 months after the second jab (which we have booked on 1st December). After the 15 December, a booster will be mandatory to keep the pass sanitaire current, but only if it is due. In other words, the 6 month interval has not been shortened to get everybody boosted. Your booster (in France) would be due mid March, at which point it will be mandatory. In our case, if we missed our booster shot, then we would be overdue and the 15 Dec would be a cut off date for us. Hope that helps a bit, (and being France, this could change at short notice if the rule is not validated).

Ditto....received same response when asked about our booster jabs being registered on the app...given that we are regularly tested on entering a care home to visit a relation...which is registered on the app....
I do not think requests from a few members of the public are going to improve the pace of making this happen....even if the NHS app team have been given the go ahead to upgrade the app.
A lobby from both clubs would certainly get their attention..

We had our boosters at a Medical Centre chosen from the online booking system & it was on our GP's Patient Record by the time we got home.....
Not sure if this would be sufficient to travel but will hopefully be added to the NHS App before we travel EU next summer.....

We had our boosters last week, on logging into my vaccination record it tells me that I have had 2 covid jabs.
Next to that it says I've had 3 appointments for the jabs and states the days and time I went.
When/if they get round to adding my last one (booster) to the record who knows.
When logging into my GP surgery record I can see my past appointments, what prescriptions I have but that's it there is nothing on there about vaccinations. How do you get to see that kind of thing?

I assume it might be a bit different in Scotland, but here on the NHS App besides get your covid pass, there is view your GP record. If I go into that I get several options, one is consultations and events, which shows everything in chronological order. Under the 3rd Nov there is an entry re my booster, giving all the details.

Just found this Steve, under Your GP health record, shame it's not on same page as NHS Covid Pass, would be so much simpler than having to look in 2 locations on the App..... although both are accessed from the HOME page.
I had previously found it on the App that I can access my GP Surgery, systmonline tpp or the new one they try to promote 'Airmid'.
Not sure if all GP's use similar!!

Thanks for the info. That raises a second question, whether it is possible to get a booster jab in France when one has received the first two elsewhere?
I already had my second jab at a different location to the first one, but at least that was in the same country.

We have friends who have gone back to the UK for the winter and they will be having their booster over there as they have already made inquiries and hope to have it done by end of this month also they have just had the flu jabs there as well, but you may find it easier as you are in Europe hope this helps Lutz.

Thanks Steve, yes it must be. We can log onto Patient Services for our GP this gives us access to see and order prescriptions, past appointments with GP and able to book new appointments. It does not give us any other information about us. To see our vaccines we have to register and log onto NHS Scotland, this only gives us access to the certificate stating how many Covid vaccinations you have had and when. Other than those 2 things we don't get access to anything else regarding our medical records.

Can you not get a booster while in Spain? when we were there we were talking to a couple from the UK on our campsite they said they always get their Flu vaccination from a Spanish medical facility. I know Covid is different but its worth an ask.

Just when we have started planning a winter tour ... this!! There is little information on the UK Gov website ... it states it will be updated when more information becomes available which is little use to those of us planning to go away over Christmas and January. I've emailed my (Conservative) MP and will let you know what response I receive ...

It hasn't TW. You only need to look at some EU countries; I posted on another thread that from last Saturday Holland has reintroduced mask wearing in shops etc, and from tomorrow there will be a partial lockdown. Some countries are experiencing very high rates of infection, and of course going into winter adds to the problems.

Might sound like a lot of trouble but we had a great trip and apart from the mask wearing you wouldnt know there was a problem.
I don't doubt for a minute that when you went "over there" there was no problem; however, as the last 20 months have shown, things can, and do, change, in relation to the rate of infection, and consequently, the measures individual countries take to combat it.
Unfortunately, what was in force when you, or anyone, went 2 months ago, bears no relation to what the situation could be at this moment in time.
The news this evening relating to some EU countries isn't very optimistic

Just been speaking to someone on the Scottish Covid App team. There is currently no way to put the booster on the App and no plans to do so. You can't even get a letter confirming that you have had the booster. They are aware that proof will be needed from 15th December for over 65's and the helpful young lady said that it would probably be nearer 15th December before any system was sorted out.

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of urgency in getting the third jab on the pass in this country. Or deciding wether it is needed by Dec 15th in France.

As he urged those eligible to take up the jabs, Boris Johnson said boosters might be necessary in order to “make life easier” and travel without quarantine and testing. “I think that we will be making plans to add the booster dose to the NHS Covid travel pass,” he said. “But again, I think what the general lesson is for anybody who wants to travel, you can see that getting fully vaccinated with a booster is going to be something that will, on the whole, make your life easier in all kinds of ways including foreign travel.”
From Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, France’s tourism minister:-French over-65s will need a third booster dose to activate the pass from Dec 15 but whether that will apply to foreigners is unclear.
However, final rules on that will be agreed by Dec 15, said Mr Lemoyne.
