Pathetic Club Wi Fi

I totally agree that the wording on the CC internet information could be made a lot clearer. However, I think expecting speeds of 100 mbps for £30 a year unrealistic. I suspect your 600 mbps package somewhat more expensive. I’ve not used the paid service for a couple of years, but when we did I recorded up to 14 mbps on a gold site when everyone was out. When they returned for the evening that dropped to 2 mbps.

The big mistake the club made ,was when they said the wifi service was being up graded with a tie up with BT ,and saying that now streaming would be possible ,instead of leaving it as just an email and websearch only ,and as you say when the site wifi is not being used much it is fine ,but when then evetyone? starts to use it it cannot now cope as it is a whole "village" going on line that could be over 200 units ,
And do i understand that there is now equipment ,available that can also boost the signal to a unit over and above what is expected ?

I don't know how long the Club have had site WiFi but I imagine it must go back to at least 2008 as I had a recall having a problem with it at Sandringham and the Club set me a site night voucher! The point is the expectations for WiFi back then was materially different to what it is now. With the fairly recent advent of widespread TV on demand, peoples expectations of what WiFi have changed. Along with higher speed data on phones the Club's WiFi speeds will seem archaic to many. I am not sure what the answer is, the Club may have to think about 1000mpbs connections on site?

Can that be done on most sites that are not very near any fibre cables being very rural ,as stated else where ?,it is as i understand 100mpbs is at the entry point of the site, not when it could be a 200plus "village" of LVs wanting to log on

Whatever contract/PAYG one is on, the experience will, provided there is a phone signal, surpass CAMC Wifi.

No problem here BB but just pointing out that we are all different s are our requirements. My dumb mobile is in my front right pocket 24/7. Any smart phone that I have seen would not be as I crawl amongst garden plants pruning etc. That being the case and as I initiate very few calls it suits me to not have a contact. When away we have trips of 5, 5or 6, 7 weeks and 15 nights in December a total of around 18 weeks.

why bother with slow club WiFi?
Unfortunately those speeds are not always the case, even in areas that are not that remote. Currently our EE, O2 and the site wifi (C&CC) are showing about 1.5 mbps. Took ages to download my Telegraph☹️. Until the weekend folk arrived the site was the best of the bunch, however now that keeps dropping out. Last site we had similar to your figures but not now.

Yes I use a mifi and find it very useful whilst away. For us having a 12 month access to club wifi has also been useful and economical. Probably used 55 nights when touring plus 15 nights in December.
As I said BB we all have differing needs and requirements. For us a TV on tour is pointless (yet for some reason we carry one?).
