Any advice on spending January/Feb in Spain or Portugal in a motor home, would be very welcome. Covid permitting of course. Routes, ferries, sites, lots to think about. Would love to here from people who've done this themselves.

Hi Wendy, I was always a fly to Thailand for the winter man, but those who go to Spain in January will give you the three most popular choices of routes.

Some with iron stomachs take the ferry from Portsmouth across the Bay of Biscay to Bilbao - although it might mean two nights on board. Others, especially those with dogs, take the tunnel and start driving from Calais - usually towards Bordeaux to reach the Spanish border at Hendaye.  And if I were ever tempted to go it would be the Portsmouth to St Malo overnight ferry and then to drive down the west coast of France.

Campsites along the way are not plentiful in January but there are enough, but with a motorhome you will have a good choice of Aires as well. Campsites on the coast of Spain tend to be huge and to my mind unappealing, but others will surely come along and contradict me. This  Club has a list of ones they recommend and Brittany Ferries has some well priced packages of ferry plus site. Look at both.

But before Covid happened the Thai Airways service always great. I do miss it. Enjoy your planning.
