Sort of correct, my daughter who lives in Spain was with us for some weeks a short while ago, she ordered tests via Boots to be delivered to our UK address before she left Spain.

When you order the tests on line you are given a reference number, this number has to be quoted on the online passenger locator from which you have to complete before turning up for your ferry/tunnel. You can order your tests now, just keep a note of the order reference, it is not difficult, my daughter had no problems laughing

Cash - we have already plus loads on the Caxton card

Sun cream - already in the van

Clothes for 4 seasons - mine is in the van, OH still to do

A meal - our tunnel is in the morning so will have plenty of time for shopping once we get there, but I will have something in the van even if its basic.

    coolsmilelaughing

TG I would have thought you could use your Nationwide Debit card for no fee withdrawals. We stopped using Caxton when we took out a Flex Plus account.

Just as a matter of interest what is the fee for Caxton these days?

    Enjoy the journeys, all...

slightly green-eyed here, but have been 'about' for several trips so far this year.

off with family this morning for a 'lodge experience'....not CC....

stay safe and keep in touch.

    BB.

Thanks David, I tried to reply to WN last night but got the 'under maintenance' warning.

We tend to use Credit card for most things while away and the Caxton for cash and food shopping. We both have one and they are fully loaded as the exchange rate was good recently. We still have some cash left from our trip to Lanzarote last year.

Have you seen the news from Schengen info, they have put Spain down from dark red to red, as the numbers are falling, vaccination is up and the Beta variant is looking to be under control.

Are you going straight to France upon arrival? think I would spend a bit of time in northern Spain probably do my food shopping there, its cheaper than Francelaughingwink

Depends on situation but we might go over the border to the bay of Roses towards the end of September if we are down that way. Still not sure where we are going.

Cheers David, if we do go we may well be staying at L'Amfora. We've stayed there a few times now and quite like it. We started using it when we had camping cheques to use, I believe they take the night vouchers now, we have some of them to use uplaughing

I do know both the sites you mentioned, Aquarius had new roads laid a few years ago, it did make a difference. I know what you mean about the rallies.

Thank you to both AD and TG.

We're always there too early for L'Amfora so tend to end up in Les Medes.

    Any update on this, David?

Genuine question because the inconvenience of all the hoops the government seem to insist on folk going through to get abroad is the one thing holding me back from booking for October. Read a report yesterday claiming that thousands of tests are going unchecked. frown

A bit of snobbishness here on rallies at Aquarius- the camping and caravan club rally was not there last year nor I expect this. About 30 (at peak) units attended but were in an area of the site not passed by general campers. I note no mention was made of CCMH rallies held on Dunas.! Last year the beach at St Pere was quieter than any time  in the last 30 years. Palmeros site is further from the beach, Gaviotte is like Aquarius and Dunas, all access directly onto the beach. All St pere sites are of excellent quality. You take your pick.

I regularly attend club rallies-did two weeks in June and two more coming up in September.

But, I would not choose to go to a site abroad where a rally was being held.

Have stayed on 4 French sites in the past 2 weeks and visits to bars and a couple of restaurants. NHS vaccination certificate accepted everywhere (paper) - no problems. The most annoying thing is having to wear a mask in towns and at scenic locations e.g. Talmont (near Royan) masks obligatory throughout the village.not good in 28 degrees. Puts you off site seeing!

I thought that too Allan, but we arrived at Twin Lakes in Charente Maritime a few years ago and found ourselves in the middle of a UK Motorhome Fun rally - and what welcoming people they were. “Come and pitch by the lake with us, here’s the code for the wi-fi , will you come to our quiz night this evening, we will all be by the open air bar at 7pm., there’s food there if you want to join us “, and so on. All really nice people.

So far we have avoided rallies, not that we don't like being sociable we do. We just like to be independent.

After 45 years with the military OH likes to do his own thing laughing

We might look at a rally once they start up again abroad, probably Spain or Portugal but just for a week as a test.

The last time we were at L'Amfora there was a small rally at Aquarius next door, we went and had a look around it looked ok to me, the site wasn't full as it was May time.

Las Dunas was the site we used to go to with our 2 boys back in the 80s they loved it as there was always things organised for the children.

Starting to plan what staples to take to France next week. It is amazing how much would either be dairy meat or products containing dairy or meat.

Staying overnight at Blackhorse Farm and taking a mid-morning Eurotunnel. I suppose we will have to ditch any milk and butter we have brought for Sunday night and Monday morning.

The supermarket near our favourite first stop in Neufchâtel en Bray (Camping St Hilaire) will get more of our euros than usual.

Not just meat and dairy, ( no cheese, mayo, salad cream, bacon eggs) fruit and veg are not allowed either.

I've been doing some checking, bananas and pineapple are ok as are fish 😁

We have 5 nights in the UK on our way down so all we have in the van will be gone. Just buy fresh once over there. Might have to ditch a few things but not a lot.

Thanks AD, heard from someone who went over this morning Portsmouth to Caen, they had no issues either, no checks to them though some were checked. Paperwork all accepted no problem.

    All good to hear.
