I am hoping to put something together for myself LLM, will be happy to share it once done. Only basic, probably by County, and include some basic info about each Site. I need to wind the Mac Book up first though.

Just an update from my last post. I am halfway through putting together a basic list of the sites mentioned on this thread. It will be done on a County/area basis, with a bit of information about each Site, and details of website address or telephone number. Happy to share it with anyone interested, once I have got it sorted. In the meantime, if anyone has any other nice small private sites they would like to recommend, please just add a post, preferably with a website link if possible, but not essential. Currently got nothing for Scotland, but I know some of you have some great knowledge about sites up there. 👍

This used to be a CL and a small commercial site, but it looks as if Duncan has combined the 2 sites. There is also a rally field adjacent. Great views over the Fifth of Forth towards the N Berwick coast.

We walked past this site just outside the village of Birchover near Matlock last week. Looked very nice, peaceful setting (apart from the peacocks!) and great views over the valley. A bit away from the more popular Peak District spots but with some good walks nearby.
(Don't be put off by the huge camping field which we were told only gets filled up during a festival weekend!

Here's one that I recommended to KjellNN for a stay near Ruthin in Denbighshire. Not been myself but I have had it recommended to me by a club member who lives n the village.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned Barley Meadow Touring Park, a few miles East of Okehampton and is ideally located close to the A30 so is an ideal stop on the way to Cornwall.
The park is beautifully landscaped, hardstanding and grass pitches, tents allowed. Absolutely first class facilities. Dogs allowed but Adult only. Pricing is simple as there are only two seasons- High season is July and August and the few days around the normal Bank Holidays. All other times is Low season.
We will definitely use again if we are passing by.

Here's one in Mid Wales that was pointed out to us by WN when we needed a site with Hardstanding.

It is a small commercial site that used to be a C&CC CS but is no longer. There are about 15 seasonal vans on site but also a number of H/ S pitches with EHU, grass pitches and a tent area. There are 2 toilets and a separate single shower/toilet. It is just over 1/4 ml off the A44 a mile outside of Llanguric. There are walks into the forest and along the R.Wye from the site.

Here's another for the list. Tagg Lane Dairy, Monyash, Bakewell, Derbyshire.
It used to be CL (closed as such this year) and is now a 12 pitch site, 5 of which are Hardstanding. I've not stayed there but It does look a nice site.

The problem with Tagg Lane Nellie is the noise from the nearby A515. We’ve stayed at a CL just a tad further along and the quarry lorries can be quite noisy from very early on. To be fair the previous CL was nearer to the road than their new site but, personally, I would find the noise intrusive. Each to their own though.

Here’s a lovely spot at Siblyback lake and away from the crowds in Cornwall. Four grass pitches and four hard standing - electricity available and optional, toilets too and a really good cafe now run by the Olive and Co. team from Liskeard. Motor homes the size of the ones in the photo can get in but the access is impossible for caravans. Don’t even try. Popular at weekends but hardly anyone there midweek today. 👍Thanks for that one EuroT. We used to visit Siblyback for windsurfing and canoeing many years ago. Bodmin Moor is a bit like Dartmoor for larger vehicles, you have to know your way on and off. Some tiny little roads😁

Yes indeed, and that driver has my full admiration.
But bearing in mind that the approach road to Cirencester Club site generated 351 posts last month - many of them anguished - I can only repeat my sincere advice not to try to get to Siblyback with a caravan.

I would like to add this rural camp site to the list, I haven't stayed there but one of our daughters was visiting Wookey Farm yesterday and had a lovely time seeing the goats (her friend is helping there just now.) We had some very nice Goats Cheese Brie to sample. The site is a "low impact, eco" venue. Wookey Hole is a very interesting place to visit with NT Ebor Gorge alongside, the Mendips as a backdrop and Cheddar just down the road. Ideal for a laid back relaxed break!

New Hall Farm
Edingley, near Southwell, Nottinghamshire.
A really quiet peaceful site. At night, it is absolutely silent, except for the occasional owl. Site is near top of Edingley Hill, with wonderful views. Plenty of trees around. Lots of walks from the site – with leaflets in the information centre, or just ask the owner or warden.
Adults only.
About 25 pitches. Some grass, some hardstanding.
Some with electricity, some without.
Takes motorhomes/caravans/tents.
Very clean toilet block with showers. Currently lots of Covid precautions – sanitiser everywhere.
Outdoor, but covered dish wash area, hot & cold water.
Rubbish in appropriate recycling bins.
Toilet waste point.
Grey water into the hedges.
Two water taps. If you want to fill your tank with a hose, you will need a long hose, as you cant get close up. We arrived with a full tank, and would have topped up with watering can if necessary.
Dogs are allowed – on leads, and provided they don’t yap or bark! And it worked. Having been on too many CMC sites with yappy dogs, this really added to the peace and quiet.
On arrival your pitch number is on a board, so you can pitch up if no one around.(remember this is a working farm) Great welcome from the owner later on. The hardstandings are just big enough for your van, with awning or chairs on adjoining grass.
We will definitely return if visiting the area again.

Just returned from a very enjoyable break staying at Hunters Hamlet Touring Park near Abergele in North Wales.
Great site with a choice of pitches. If you can manage with 10amp electricity then I would say pitches 4 to 11 are the best ones for views. These are generally on hardstanding. We were on Pitch 5 and the views were outstanding. Serviced pitches with 16amp electricity are also available (pitches 16 -30) It was fun to watch a local sheepdog trainer every morning with a number of dogs.
The site is not ideal if you are the kind of person who wants to leave his motorhome static but there were a number of campervans who went out every day and returned later. Nowhere to walk to from site but it is quite central for the area. We visited St Asaph, Rhyl ( only drove through Towyn, definitely not a place to stop!). To the west are the small beach resorts resorts of Colwyn Bay, Rhos on Sea and the jewel in the crown of Llandudno - what a fabulous place.

This is a great little site Uphill Wharf easy route from M5 J21 or J22 so good stopover or exploring N Somerset, Bristol area. Final approach might not suit big outfit, but can be done with care.

Just returned from a very enjoyable break staying at Hunters Hamlet Touring Park near Abergele in North Wales.
Thanks for that Mikey. I stopped at Plas Farm just a bit further along a few years ago and it was OK but not great so been looking at Hunters for a short break.
Good to see that a) Wifi is free and b) their fairness in only increasing prices for the actual Easter weekend is great to see, as is their fair pricing structure.

For those still active there is the Old Hill Inn at the foot of Ingleborough. Reviewed in the Guardian today which might put some people off. But it has 8 or maybe 10 pitches so far too big for “we only go to CLs” crowd, and there’s a danger of non members being there.. Restaurant is said to be more Michelin than pub food - have I lost the rest of you now.? Anyway there are reviews on UKCS - some say it’s listed under Ingleton and others say Chapel le Dale. I would certainly go if I were younger . Alas.
